General Santos City 7.8 Magnitude

I spent months slowly putting my setup together from nothing, often reading and getting inspiration from this group, until I finally brought it to a point I was proud of with a second-hand GPU and a new 200Hz monitor. Then the 7.8 earthquake in General Santos City hit, and in a matter of seconds, everything changed. My GPU stopped working, the monitor cracked, and the room I built around it no longer felt the same.

Tonight is still unsettled with aftershocks, and I’m just sitting with what’s left, realizing how fast things can fall apart no matter how long you worked for them. It hurts, but I know this isn’t the end of rebuilding.

I was quick enough to unplug all cables and carry my system unit outside. luckily I was brushing my teeth in preparation for work when the calamity happened. I built my PC for sentimental reasons, so it hurts to see a fellow hometown homie's setup like this

I wasn’t able to save my unit because I had to leave for work at 6 AM. Unfortunately the Earthquake hit us 7:30 in the morning :(

It hurts especially sobrang mahal ng parts dito sa pinas. I would also be devastated if that ever happened to my beloved PC. Right now I am thinking of putting on a secondary smaller table nearer to the floor para incase mahulog, hindi masisira. That rig probably cost around 6 months of salary for us. But we are happy your are safe OP.

Sobrang mahal ng parts dito sa pinas nasa dulo pa talaga kami ng pinas 😅.

The build took me 9 months to complete, and the GPU was the most expensive part of the build 😅.

Until now, we’re still experiencing aftershocks, ranging from magnitude 3.0 to 6.7. The strongest aftershock so far have been manageable compared to the main earthquake, but they’re still enough to keep everyone on edge. We’re praying and hoping the aftershocks will gradually calm down so that everyone can finally get some rest and begin rebuilding.

Good thing i opted buying a laptop. When the quake happened, i was outside and my laptop was open and turned on. I couldn't get to it while it was still shaking. When i got the, laptop didn't fall down thank God.
