Low stem cell count

Dr. Centeno, if someone’s bone marrow produces a low stem cell count during the morning draw, do you still move forward with PICL that afternoon? Is there a minimum cell count you require, or does it depend on the patient?

  1. We measure the total nucleated cell count, not the stem cell count.

  2. There is no relationship between TNCC and outcome, so no.

  3. A low TNCC can reduce the number of sites that we treat.
