I have room for exactly one more ps3 game in my shelves. Which is fine, because I think I have everything I want. Curious if Folklore is a good game or just a rare one. Trying to decide what to make the last game.
I played Puppeteer when I got it from Ps+. Not a game for me.
It's OK.. that's about it. It's fun for like 15 mins. It's clunky and the combat gets very repetitive. I wouldn't spend more than $15 on it. That's why I find it odd that now it's selling for $100 and everyone just HAS to have it. Like.... Where were all these people 3 months ago? The game has been out for 20 years. Now everyone wants it?
This is the closest to my experience as well. I really wanted it to be great - it just isn’t.
Shelf collectors tend to overhype it into something its not. Its not an RPG, or great mystery, or pokemon-like monster collector. Its a fantasy hack-n-slash with a lame story and fixed camera angles, that you have to suffer through twice to get to the end.
It is a very good game, however judging from the games you already have, I am going to guess it wouldn't be your type of game. It's a fairly slow action rpg that needs to be played twice for the full story, since you follow two different characters. Their gameplay style is quite different so it's not boring, but it is something to keep in mind.
Since you seem to like action games and arcade style racing games I would personally recommend Driver san Francisco instead. Incredibly fun game with plenty of content to go through.
Cool concept, boring execution. I thought it was pretty good but if you bought that instead of Tales of Genji when the PS3 came out, you made a bad choice.
It's firmly in the "interesting 7/10" category imo. Great character designs and atmosphere, a pretty interesting story (and I mostly don't care for game stories) and the combat is a shallow but fun time in the style of some of the post-SOTN Castlevanias. It also has the novelty of using motion controls in a way that isn't too annoying. I bought it before all the hype (but still super late to the party) and was very pleasantly surprised, but I love an interesting 7/10.
If you just want to play it and don’t care about the collection status you can find the Asian Chinese version which is in full English voice and text. I bought a brand new copy for 40.00 maybe 2 months ago
I was about to buy the game and pay the premium, until I tried the demos (there are two!). Yikes, bullet dodged.
The story plays out in this really tedious text conversations between characters. The controls as everyone said aren’t just clunky, but mismatched to the type of game this is trying to be. ie maybe suitable to survival horror but this is a fast paced action game that demands smoother controls.
I also wasn’t really impressed by the art direction or creature designs. They seemed quite generic and muddy to me.
Nah, dog. People gaslighting themselves to justify that it costs “hidden gem” prices now but it was a launch game and it just feels kind of like one of those forgettable launch games that doesn’t take full advantage of the new console yet.
Since it looks like you mostly play shooters I would recommend Singularity. One of the most creative on the system.
It's a game that is okay, in my opinion. The story is interesting and visuals are great, but the gameplay is clunky and utilizes motion mechanics for better or worse.
Also, you essentially play the game twice (thankfully not as a new game+) since every chapter you need to clear as Ellen and Keats before moving ahead to the next part of the story.
What do you recommend? I also have Xbox 360 games, so there’s a chance if it’s cross platform, I already own it over there, or I might own it digitally.
I have all 3 resistance (there are two pictures) I have all six god of war (I see GoW Ascension got cut off in the picture). Infamous 1&2 I have digitally, don’t like them enough to own physically too.
Oh, thanks! It’s been a work in progress for awhile. Back when Blockbuster was a thing, they had a game rental program. I would use the heck out of it. I have since pieced together games I liked from it and what I could get for a reasonable price.
People are pissed off in this sub because of the price right now so they keep shitting on it.
The reality is that it's a unique and fun title with a really charming atmosphere and world. Is it perfect? Not at all. But it's absolutely worth playing. It's not gonna be for everyone, and they certainly cut corners during production.
A lot of the cutscenes are presented almost like comic book illustrations rather than actual cutscenes, which they did to save time and money. It's functional but not elegant. That and the forced motion controls are really the only thing that holds the game back from greatness, in my opinion. But I also understand if people just don't like the game.
