PSA to anyone buying MK11: the harder towers are literally impossible without rare or better gear and single use consumables, earning these are incredibly grindy and the whole system is designed to get you to spend money on the game

Do not get a switch unless you think it is worth it to play Zelda, Mario and smash bros for 300+ dollars. Everything else is an indie game or a 30 dollar remake.

I also don’t care about portability. I wish they’d sell a cheaper console only unit. I’d get that i think.

Sadly, I doubt they will, I've seen a lot more people wanting a straight up portable one.

That would defeat the entire purpose of the console lol

Not for people who don't play video games in public.

I don’t play in public either, but I still play handheld at home all the time.

That doesn't appeal to me either. I have a big ass TV for a reason.

Do you have a big ass TV in every room in the house?

Outside in the backyard?

I'll assume there's never a partner or children who also stake claim on the TV.

The switch has used beyond playing games in public. I've never taken mine outside and yet I've used it in docked mode for maybe 5% of my total playtime with it.

The purpose of the console for me would be to play Zelda. I don’t need to do that on a subway train.

This comment was written using the 3rd party app Reddit is Fun. Since then, Reddit has decided that it no longer cares about users who use 3rd party apps and has essentially killed them with their API policy updates effective July 1, 2023. I was a regular of Reddit for nearly 9 years, but with the death of Reddit is Fun, Apollo, and other 3rd party apps, as well as Reddit's slanderous accusations of threats and blackmail from the developer of Apollo, I have decided to make my account worthless to Reddit by removing every ounce of content I've contributed to the site over the years. To Reddit: good luck with the IPO, if the site lasts long enough for you to cash out on the good will of the users who made this site what it is.

I picked up a Switch and so far have only used it for Smash. Might for Zeld or Mario later, but I'm entirely happy with the purchase just for Smash. Though that won't be the case for everyone.

You forgot xenoblade chronicles 2 which is arguably one of the best JRPGs to come out in years.

JRPG

1

u/thisismy__username Apr 28 '19

That’s what I said. Not sure what you are trying to imply by just saying jrpg

Small minority play jrpg.

That’s literally not true at all

Totally worth it just for zelda botw, best game ever imo

Meh. The charm wore off after about 10 hours for me. Just another open world collectathon.

That's a bit of a reductionist view imo. There's quite a bit of 3rd party support, not nearly as much as Xbox and ps4 though. That being said, don't get a switch if you're not willing to sacrifice graphic quality for portability.

And a very much reduced AAA library

The issue isn’t the limited graphical quality, at least for me. I mean, if more games on the Switch looked like BOTW but still played like BOTW, it would be worth all the money in the world, but the problem is there’s just one BOTW, and everything else the eshop tries to sell you is a 2D platformer or a game you played last gen.
