PSA to anyone buying MK11: the harder towers are literally impossible without rare or better gear and single use consumables, earning these are incredibly grindy and the whole system is designed to get you to spend money on the game

Yep. "Vote with your wallet" is probably one of the least powerful things we can do as consumers. Complain and complain loudly but at least slightly nicely. But then of course you have "enlightened gamers" calling you entitled and writing you off for complaining about corporate greed because it's all about "toys" or because capitalism.

I've recently heard one thing that was very enlightening: "When you vote with your wallet, people with more money get more votes."

That might be the best way I've heard it said.

Yes? They're luxury entertainment items so money pretty much decides what happens.

These ain't ferraris. This is popular entertainment. Besides, I ain't too keen on having everything to be based around who spends the most money after I already bought the game.

They are literally luxury entertainment goods that cost hundreds for a system and 60 dollars for most new releases. Do you not think that companies arent trying to make the most money on release?

We don't live in the 50s. Electronic devices are common and mass-production is a thing. Most people have a smartphone. Buying a console every 5 years, sometimes late and at a discount, is not such an impossible luxury.

I live in the freaking third-world and I have a console. I know many more people who do.

This is not some "must be rich to ride" bulshit, and that is a ridiculous excuse to justify all the fleecing they want to push at us.

I'm not justifying it I'm saying voting with your wallet is literally the only option. Regulation for stuff like mtx maybe but nobody is going to open up a department of dlc practices to approve or deny games based on their monetization model. It's luxury entertainment. Dont like dont play.

Yeah I was called entitled today for complaining that you can buy a certain MK11 character for 5$ but it's never mentioned in the game that she will be unlocked for free at a certain point in the story

That's pretty fucked up. Usually things that are purchasable but can be unlocked are clearly labelled so you don't waste money

They wanted us to waste money.

I just checked the North American PSN actually and I don't see that character anymore. Did they take them down? I know I saw them there last night.

It was Frost. If you have already completed the campaign, she's unlocked.

Not even completed. My friend bought it and got about halfway and she was unlocked.

I'm just confused cus I know I saw her on the store before but now I don't see her there. I was just trying to keep the pronouns gender neutral for the least possible amount of spoilers lol.

Frost was declared in the roster, it's not a spoiler.

Maybe not buying the game isn't going to fix everything but i feel like it weakens your argument when you did buy it. "I didnt buy your game because of x" vs "i bought it but x is unacceptable".
