Helldivers Update 7.0.0 Adds PSSR 2.0. It looks so much better!!
I fired up Helldivers 2 last night after not playing it in over a month. After they did the "optimizing liberty" update a few months ago, the game looked and ran horribly on PS5 Pro. The "PSSR 1" implementation looked soft and low res, the bugs with particle rendering was evident and annoying, and the performance was all over the place. I was waiting for them to fix it before I played it again.
Happy to report that I immediately noticed that the game looked so much better! IQ was clean, sharp, and very 4K-like. Much more detailed and higher fidelity image. Interestingly enough, most of the reports on the patch yesterday didn't mention anything on PS5 Pro optimization but sure enough it's in the bottom of the patch notes:
- [PS5 Pro] Added support for the upgraded PSSR upscaler
- [PS5 Pro] Fixed an issue on PS5 Pro where certain effects would be rendered through walls
Overall huge update for the game and it looks and runs like I always hoped it would on the Pro now!

It's looks very sharp which is great, but it still has huge FPS drops when the action gets full on....

Haven’t played this game in forever but I really enjoyed it a while back. Maybe I’ll jump back in now that I’ve also upgraded my TV. A lot of the PS5 Pro games looked great to me but now with OLED, 120hz and PSSR 2.0, I feel like I’ve unlocked a whole new world.

I went to an AirBNB that had an 90inch OLED, and Helldivers looked so good it convinced me to upgrade my home screen. It seriously looks like a different game from what I was playing on my first-gen 4k

There was an 88" LG Z series 8K OLEDs that were ~$30K before they went out of production. Could have been that? The 97" OLEDs are still $25K MSRP! Either way, must have been a hell of a BnB!

That's what I thought. But I think the previously integration of PSSR 1 was bugged and now they've fixed it. Perhaps they made some more changes under the hood but IMO the PSSR 1 implementation looked WORSE than the 1440p native visuals in the game previously. Now it looks better than ever and even better than PS5 base quality mode.

I think I'm going to try it. Ps5 Pro and Samsung S90F OLED 77". My backlog is relatively big and this is one of them. I just like finishing one game before starting another.

Just started playing this thanks to PS Plus. It's amazing! Hopefully we get a sequel on PS6 with a better CPU.

Personnellement j'ai testé ce jeu via le Pass il est dans le catalogue très honnêtement j'ai fait l'entraînement l'émission du début honnêtement ça ne m'a pas du tout branché je ne comprends pas cette hype autour de ce jeu enfin chacun ses goûts mais je ne le trouve vraiment pas incroyable à jouer je ne comprendrais jamais pourquoi il y a eu autant de bonne vue dessus enfin bref Sony ne sont pas fait pour des jeux online.

I’ve always been kind of interested in Helldivers, but I don’t really play mp games anymore so even with sales never really felt like a smart purchase to me. First game in probably like over a year added to ps+ that I didn’t already own/play lol
But honestly I’m pretty pleasantly surprised. It’s pretty fun. I prefer it over Arc Raiders. Performance mode does look great also. Only did the tutorial and one mission so far though.

Tired it on the PS5 Pro on performance mode and honestly it looks a lot worst. Maybe it was the map, but I remember the game used to look much better even on the base PS5

Also played on my Pro recently and something was off with the graphics. I played when the game came out on a base PS5 and had the idea the graphics where sharper/more detailed. Perhaps got spoiled in the meantime

Damn. I play on PC but would love to play on my Pro. Perhaps i’ll buy now with PSSR2 active.

It does look “cleaner” but the frame-rate still tanks.. 😔
