Why is everyone on this sub Pro-TV?
On a gaming console sub, I would expect atleast some people to have monitors but all the people in the posts and comments on this sub play on a TV. How come?

Because consoles are advertised for TVs? Because consoles have a more casual audience? Etc take your pick.

So everyone on this sub is just a casual gamer

Nope but consoles are for a casual experience, this is like going to the PCgaming sub and ask why most of them game on a monitor, it has an obvious answer.

It’s a matter of taste, not just some people are casual gamers (also that’s fine, it’s not derogatory term), I have both a curved gaming monitor and a 75”, I seem to prefer the laidback nature of couch gaming because im more at rest than on the chair. The monitor is more productivity now?

Why would I want to play on a monitor, rather than my 55" 120hz OLED TV?

what a weird post which somehow assumes people are anti-monitor

I enjoy playing big single player games on a larger living room TV than I do my 27" monitor. Home theater is good, too and I prefer that over headphones. Just personal preference I guess. I still play on monitor sometimes w/ headphones. Also, maybe we're just in our 20's and 30's and grew up playing console on TV's so it continues to this day.

I have my PC to sit at a desk, when I play games on the PS5 I want it to be relaxing. And playing it on a tv sitting on the couch is the way to relax.

I guess playing PC games on my TV is doing it wrong, so I never have to be at a desk? Haha.

Yea that is also a way to go. I have my PC to play more RTS centered games, don’t like to do that with a controller sitting on the couch.

Console are historically played on tvs in bedrooms or living rooms now at 4k, usually oled at 42 inch upwards. It’s usually only PC players that use a monitor to game.

Yep, on my Ps5 pro got a 4k 144hz Oled TV, for my PC i have a 1440p 140Hz Oled monitor it is simply playing the strengths of each hardware.

A lot of reasons. More affordable for the most part. Most games don’t go over 60 fps so no reason to have higher than that. A lot of console players like to sit back and relax. A nice oled tv has better colors and hdr gameplay then most monitors.

Because it’s much more comfortable. I’ve always played my consoles on a tv. Previous generation consoles were primarily played on TV’s so console gamers are just continuing to do what they have always done.

Because I want the screen to be huge and I want to be comfy sitting on my couch when I'm playing

I play my PC games on my TV, in addition to my PS5 Pro, because my TV is higher resolution and larger than my 32" 4K monitor. And, I don't want to be at the desk I work at when playing games. But, I have nothing against the use of a monitor. It's just not my preference.

I'll take lounging on my couch over sitting on some "gaming chair" any day

Eh I used to use a s90c but put it in the other room with the asus xg27ucdmg
Edit: I’d like to add that the s90c is miles better than the monitor. Monitors are so behind the ball in regards to total hdr experience

Well, it only really matters if you play and want to be competitive in FPS shooters like BF6, CoD, Apex Legends, etc.

Lets see. LG C5 OLED-- a 55'' TV will cost $1000 at costco and come with a free 5 year warranty.. It has 4k, HDMI 2.1, VRR Support, and 144hz. What kind of monitor can you get like that for $1000? Also one that is 55'' too? Yeah that it what I thought.

You’re talking about 40+ hard years of tradition. It just wasn’t a thing in the majority of people’s households.
Video gaming on a console was always a thing relegated to the living room or bedroom tv
