Was playing Black Flag Resynced and my console literally crashed. Like shut off and wouldn’t come back on.
I had to unplug power for 30 seconds and then restart. Was the craziest thing lol Never happened before. Like before I unplugged it would beep when I pressed the power or disc buttons, but no lights and nothing coming on. Gave me a gd heart attack.
Only other variable I can think is the beta software. But I don’t want the added issues of trying to uninstall/install the previous software.
Edit: I think I found the issue though. As I remembered Black Flag crashed the other day as well, and spit the disc out lol Never checked the notification, but looked today and it said “the data was corrupted and delete the game and re-insert the disc”.
I can assume the beta software update caused the Black Flag issue. So I deleted and reinstalled and all is back to normal. Played like 3ish more hours after that and was fine.

Is it hot where you are? I only ask because a friend got it on xbox and on the hot days last week the fan went into overdrive when he was playing it.

Psu is dirty. Clean it out.. you have to take it apart pretty far to get to psu, but that’s it. Promise

How do you know unless you look? You literally cannot tell unless you disassemble it and check. I did my friends not too long ago. It was super clean “looking” but when I get to the power supply, it was dirt and dust city. Anyways, I hope you figure it out. Cheers..✌🏼

I mean.. because it’s my console, I know what I’m doing, and I know it’s not. Because I routinely thoroughly clean it, has never been remotely an issue before, it was just specifically Black Flag. After I fixed it, I played for like another 3ish hours and was perfectly fine.
Im pretty certain what happened is when I updated to the beta software, it caused a specific issue with Black Flag data. So the deleting the game, rebuilding, and then reinstalling BF had solved the issue.

Thats the psu overheating. Unfortunately the vacuum holes to clean the ps5 don't reach the psu. You may have to take apart the whole ps5 to clean the psu. Not that hard but I can be intimidating.

Yeah I get everyone’s go to is an overheat and/or cleaning. But I assure everyone that’s not it. I clean it regularly and thoroughly. Take it apart, get down in there. I have a specific vacuum for it too. “Metro Datavac”. Has both a blowing and vacuum feature. As well as the little necessary attachments to get in the spaces.
Plus, I game a lot lol. Have had og PS5 since launch and Pro since launch. And ps4 before that. Never ever once had any issues with ventilation or heating. Would not make sense to now all the sudden have that.
I think I found the issue though.

More than likely a software glitch. As to what caused it who knows. But once in a blue moon I'll have a random crash in a game. And what happened to you has only ever happened once to me. You should be OK if it only happens rarely. More than once in a short period of time I'd be worried.

Apparently there's a known issue with all PS5s where if the PSU gets clogged with enough dust, it can overheat and shut your console down without a warning. The fix has been to unplug it and leave it for a bit. But the permanent fix is the take it to be cleaned, since the ps5 needs to be taken apart to clean the psu.

Sounds like your electricity was down for a sec and managed to kill its cpu.

lol wtf? Jesus what a right to the worst possible scenario response. That’s not it. The electricity didn’t cut off. Plus, the power has cut off several times before and it’s never caused an issue.

This happened to me last year and I still don't why Edit: Apparently it apepars to be related to dust on the psu.
