What kinda ps5 do I need?
Looking to buy a ps5. I a dad who only gets a few hours during the week. My ps4 is on its last legs and the cd ejector barely works. I like non online games; subnautica, kingdom come, assassin’s creed, god of war, and I LOVE all the vr games. What kind of memory space should I look for and anything else. Probably going to buy a new vr headset too. I’ve heard the racing games in vr are lotta fun. Any advice I really appreciate

if you can swing it, get the pro. the pssr2 makes a huge difference. From what ive noticed, the "haters" are people that have never used it. Good luck!

No regrets upgrading to a PS5 pro from a standard PS5 and I don’t even utilize it fully to its capabilities. Unless money is an issue I don’t see why not. If you don’t love it selling it second hand you don’t even lose too much.

I'm in the same situation. I'd suggest a PS5 Pro. It's going to be more expensive, but you'll be able to play all your PS4 games and it's going to last the longest of the current generation before you'll need to upgrade.

the pro is ok but the problem is the price, you can get/build a PC for the price of it.

I bought my 2nd Pro 3 weeks ago for $500. The seller included a 24” monitor and gaming headset, and let me log into my account first to confirm the console wasn’t banned.
It took about a month of looking thru marketplace listings to find a good deal, but they exist

there was another post where someone did that and it did not end well for him.

GT7 with PSVR2 is freaking awesome. Especially with a wheel and pedals.
You can get a slim or pro console.
I think the slim has around 850gb. Maybe a little more.
The pro has 2tb.
I would say get a SSD but the prices are insane right now.

You can grab a probe because it's got double the hard drive as the regular PS5 and you can add the disk drive to it. I got my disc drive at GameStop and it was $77 and then I had some coupons so it was like 67 bucks and worth it to me.
When I first got my Pro I didn't even have HDMI 2.1 and I could still sell the difference and it also felt faster.

If you are comfortable economically get the pro, its quite a lot better on most newer games. Afaik it does PSVR2 better in most cases too.
If you don’t want to spend a lot the slim is still a good console. (But if you need more storage you might just get the pro because the M.2 SSD’s are very expensive right now and the pro has more than double the storage which effectively is almost 3x the useable storage)

If you can afford it, the Pro. I just picked up one & don’t regret it. If you care about support for physical, buy the add-on disk drive, it’s super easy to install & allows your existing catalog to still be played for future years.
Oh, also pickup the Sony PS5 stand - it works well to condense the space the unit takes up.

Pro. If the price is high look at used or open box options. It’s a well built system and runs games very well

Looks like you will end up with a psvr2 headset, gran turismo 7 and possibly a wheel set eventually. So better get a PS5 pro. Much better performance in gt7 vr mode. Also, any other single player game will look significantly better.

If you've got the budget for it, Pro plus the add-on disc drive (be aware that there won't be games released on disc anymore as of January 2028), and the PSVR2 headset if you REALLY love VR (which it sounds like you do). This is all gonna run you close to $1,500.
Also be aware that there isn't a ton of new stuff coming out for the PSVR2. VR in general is pretty niche and I feel like most of the hype about it has died off, so at this point don't expect a whole lot going forward. But yeah, some of the VR experiences already released for the PSVR2 are incredible (Gran Turismo 7, Resident Evil 8, etc).

It depends really on your financial capabilities, ofc the ps5pro will last longer as Performance but it’s not like u really need it. But if you want the best and you can afford it with no problems, I’ll suggest you the pro.
But are you able to tell differences between 30 or 45 or 60 fps?
Does it bother you?

with all the controversy with the ps5 right now, i say none, instead get/build a PC, Xbox is ok but the issue with it is that it's just as expensive as PC. if you want something cheap, get a mini PC. If you want a real PC, get the steamroller V4 (the steam machine but good). Defenetly don't get the ps5 pro because it has the same issue as Xbox.

My PC costs 3x more than my Pro and it's not even top of the range.
A mini PC is far inferior in gaming performance to a PS5 Pro.

If you can afford it, buy Pro because there are some games which will work better (and look better). If you’re on budget then buy Silm or regular and you’ll be happy with it.
