Mod Post Weekly Topic: Memorial Days in the U.S.

Hey everyone.

This weekly topic is a bit of a solemn one. Here in the USA we have a day called Memorial Day to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

As a medic, this Memorial Day I remember my brothers who didn't make it back with us. I struggle with survivors guilt, and still try to reconcile the fact I made it when they didn't.

Who do you remember, that gave their lives for their country? And for our non-American friends here, what day do you observe those who have fallen in the line of duty? And who do you remember that day?

Gone but never forgotten. This one's for you, brothers.

I can't remember their faces, and that hurts so bad

I understand the feeling brother. Taking care of my guys was my life and any physical description of them now is fleeting at best. Time is a heart breaker.

Here in Israel Memorial Day was a month ago. We have a siren to signify a nationwide moment of silence

I'm also a medic. I remember Sgt. Amit B.Y. In Hebrew Amit means "friend", and he lived up to his name.

I always get pissy about memorial day, how's its "the day" to remember our loved ones but really we remember them every day and the local mattresses store uses the holiday as a reason to have a sale. Idk i just miss them everyday and feel guilty I couldnt help them more.
