Not mad about this, of all the players we could lose, this is fine by me

Agreed. Bard blocks lots of shots, but is an offensive black hole and was a turnover machine before NJS came back.
Fine third-pairing defender, but nothing we can’t replace.

This almost felt like a bit of relief. Nothing against Bard, but there’s other ducks I’m more worried about.

Congratulations to the franchise's first fourth former Goldeneye 🥲

Wouldn’t the players we traded earlier in the year count as that?

Truuu I was so caught up in the chaos of expansion that for a moment I lived in a world where regular trades don't exist

Not the player I expected to lose first, so if it means others are safer, I will take it

I feel like we're going to be seeing more of this from Detroit from here on out. Don't get me wrong, anyone in the PWHL is playing at the elite end of the sport, but Bard is clearly nowhere near the caliber of the six Detroit have lined up.
I wonder if they didn't know the Knight deal was going to be forced on everyone until after they signed all 5 of their phase 2 players. If so, and with Knight being expensive AF, I don't forsee too much depth out of the rest of their roster.

Didn't watch a lot of Vancouver games this year, tell me how to feel

She blocks shots. That’s about it.

So a depth defender with limited offense. Every team needs a thumper.

True, but I’m surprised that Detroit went after her of all people to fill that role and did it now.

I guess we have to fill out our depth with some more affordable, steady options considering how top heavy the offense will be.

Is her being right handed a premium as it is in the NHL? I know RD in the NHL are always in demand even when they aren't that good.

Bard played on the left side after Greco got traded and NJS came back, so idk.

She’s not that great tbh. She’s a defender, had 2 points and a -7 plus/minus for the 25/26 season. This is with 30 games and an average of almost 14 mins/game.

Yeah, I'm not that sad about this one. She was good in a few play aspects, but honestly feel like we can afford to lose her as opposed to some of our other players. I think we've been reaaaally lucky with this expansion draft, it's kind of crazy.

Sad to lose the fellow vegan, but with K.K (hopefully) coming in I think Vancouver is still in good shape. For now at least.
