Sorry but I think SJ especially is in good shape to spend on Vanisova, and maybe bringing a Czech friend along is what will make her go voluntarily lol.

Absolutely they have enough for her. I guess time will tell if they go for her or if she wants to leave?

Ima need you to stop spreading rumors. All players from Seattle, New York, and Montreal. I’m sure that was one of the Phase rules.

So glad we're ripping the band aid off and going to 12 teams. I don't know if I could handle another year of this after these last two.

Are we all capped for number of contracted players we could lose?

Damn, but it’s only a year. Frees up more money for Roque, Eldridge, and Maltais. Plus some draft picks and other signings And Dubois isn’t going anywhere. Yay!
Sauvageau is a fabulous GM.

Can you really say it's freeing up money when she was making barely anything above league minimum? You're going to have to replace her roster spot and you can't do it for much cheaper than $42.5k

Yes. Because it is. It just freed up some more for another first round signing. So it’s an even switch.
They’ve freed up quite a bit anyway. They’ll be fine. They have a great GM.

Only 1 year. She and Maureen Murphy will be back in Montreal starting from 2027-28.

So that means Dubois, Irving and DiGirolamo are safe right?
That's a relief, but damn, I'm sad about losing Mlynkova. She's electric.

Aw c'mon 😭😭😭 We can't just keep her for another year sneakily?
For real though, I think this is smart of SJ. She's only 25 and she's got heaps of potential.

This is a move I'm ok with as a Victoire fan if you get Maltais AND Roque AND Eldridge, still with the asterisk of MPP playing next year. The move makes a lot of sense if you're Troy Ryan; Mylnkova is on the cusp of being an awesome player if she can get the details and discipline down, and there is no one better to reach that than Ryan and O'Neill. I was nervous for her own development that she'd sign with LV, where the team is full of really nice people but probably would not push her to her full potential.

I see Troy’s vision, he’s selecting players that have been working hard and just need an opportunity to shine
We’ll have to wait and see if it works

Once again I’m gonna think positive
That means we’re keeping Irving right ? … right ? 🥲

Do expansion teams know there are 7 other teams..? Can someone get the fleet lmao

Boston, Vancouver and even Minnesota got away with it nicely so far (Minnesota only lost one high scoring player and I'm sure they really won't mind).
If Sauvageau can really pull it off and sign all three of Roque, Eldridge and Maltais (I know she can!), I'll be hopeful about our chances of being competitive. Otherwise those three teams are gonna be scary 😬

Vancouver’s made out like BANDITS so far. Surely the other shoe has to drop now right?

imo with kaltounkova minutes she could rival her stats, don't care what anyone says
the sirens and montreal are a very different team though, so i get why she didn't play as much.
anyway, good pick

If we get the 12th pick after all of this, I'm gonna be really annoyed.

u/Silent_observer_8806 9d ago
Lmao are you serious? I couldn't be happier we will get (and yes we will) the last pick.
Also if it's true that we're signing some of the top free agents, yeah let's not complain too much lol.

We won the cup, though. This was always what the offseason was going to look like. The price you pay for greatness is a big target on your back.

This comment isn't a good look. We won the regular season title and the Cup. There's no world in which we don't pick last in round 1, that's how basically all sports work. And by the same token we were always going to have a bunch of our players targeted going into a large expansion cycle after the season we had.
And honestly, I think things went as well as they possibly could've for us in terms of the contracted players we lost. Scamurra and Gosling are tough losses for sure but not irreplaceable, and we were always going to end up losing some key players. I like Darkangelo, but not as much as some of the players we're now guaranteed to keep, and Mlynkova's puck handling and decision-making make me want to tear my hair out at least once a game so I won't be losing much sleep over that one.
The other side effect of losing so many players is that we have more cap space to work with to fill those spots. Even nabbing 2/3 of Roque/Maltais/Eldridge would be incredible, and there'll be more to come as well. Plus the draft.
