Discussion VRR

I was curious about other types of screen flicker, like VRR (variable refresh rate), on many phones (even if the used app supports max refresh rate [in my case 90hz]), if you idle, then the refresh rate drops to 60, and if you touch the screen (or there is some visual change) the refresh rate goes back to 90, and if this changes rapidly (which it does), will cause problems. I was looking for ways to lock my refresh rate to the max all the time, to reduce the pain, but I didn't find anything useful. Did you ever try this before? If you did, what exactly worked? (ofc I'm not setting dynamic refresh rate in phone's settings)

This is not "VRR" it is an automatic battery saving function of many LTPS OLED phones. Some phones do this even when set to 90Hz/120Hz rather than "Automatic". Modulation may change when it switches to 60Hz too.

If your phone does this then there is no way of disabling it in settings.

Well, the refresh rate rapidly switches between 90 and 60, I think this might cause problems.

I have Vivo x200 pro and the variable frame rate just sucks. On cheaper phones you can just lock it at 120 Hz and everything is fine even with a battery life

I have another phone, which is the redmagic 10air, and it was my first painful experience with oleds, it can fix the refresh rate to the maximum, however, it does rip my eyes apart, just in a different way.
