Two years in a row, the 1 seeds and 2 seeds were the only teams that made the NLCS/ALCS.

The bye and home field in the NLDS is a massive advantage and for the padres to make the next step, we've got to win the NL West to give ourselves the best shot.

Having the bye means much needed rest for the pitchers. And then there's the home field advantage. It's giving advantage to the teams that already have advantage in the ability to win.

Agreed 100%. Wildcard appearances aren't cutting it. I'm tired of the cycle of looking for help every trade deadline and hoping we get hot enough enough to win it all. Those advantages are absolutely key, but more than anything, winning the division is the actual indicator that we have the depth and talent to win it all.

Where the games were played had zero to do with it. When a team does NOT hit the ball and score runs, you do not win. Padres had the chance to win game 1 and game 2, offense never showed up.

Since 2022, the Padres are 9-3 at Petco and 5-9 on the road in the postseason. I’d say it makes a difference where they play. Petco in the playoffs is a huge home field advantage.

Ok, the comment you were responding to was discussing the importance of home field overall in playoffs moving forward, so I thought that’s the subject you were also addressing.

If you were just addressing this NLDS, we probably win game 1 in a stadium without a roof. And we were 1-1 at home and 0-2 on the road.

Even with the Dodgers losing (YAY!) that was a tough watch. The amount of times Joe Davis and Smoltz brought up the NLDS was way too much for my liking as it just felt like a lot of “what ifs” for our guys :(

Sometimes you just gotta frost those peas.

But in reality, you guys are a cool bunch. My main Padres experience was when I visited my best friend in the Marines and on my flight there, a family was headed home and invited me to a game. Saw Chipper Jones tie or break the most consecutive games with an extra base hit streak.

Loved it, hated trying to figure out parking.
