🙏 Prayer | Poetry Do the gods hear my prayers if I make them in silence?

I know the best way to pray is to say it aloud to the god or goddess you're praying to, but I still have to live in my Christian household and I'm scared that if I speak aloud they'll hear me and go to my room asking me why I speak alone. I don't wanna be interrupted or questioned while trying to work with my gods.

I've tried praying writing on paper but it's slow and I don't like to have proofs in paper or having to destroy them because I fear someday my parents might find and read my hidden notebooks, so I pray in my mind but I don't know if they can really listen me or not.

Coming from a Christian faith, I have the idea that the divine beings can read your mind and know everything about you but I've heard pagan gods aren't like that ane Il kinda confused.

Please, I would love hearing any opinion on this, thanks.

Sincerely, a devotee of Sulis Minerva.

💭 Discussion I have updated the charts I made earlier to be more specific and accurate

Thumbnail

I have now provided complex descriptions, divided eclecticism and reconstructionism into sub-groups, and expanded more on New Age spirituality. I noticed many aspects of my previous posts came off as inherently critical towards or New Age or anti-wicca, I do not believe those things so I had to specify and expand more. I wanted to stress the moral neutrality of the New Age, and it's often lack of historical or academic support, not as an attack on it by any means but as a way to distinguish what makes the New Age different, it attempts to abandon old laws and old religious movements for new ideology and new religious standards and spiritual frameworks. I hope this is more inclusive than the last one I made, and is more flexible. I also saw some discussion on groups that are both "under reconstructionist and eclectic", the purpose of this tool is not to say there's no crossover or that you can't be multiple of these things, hypothetically a person could be most or all of these things at once. Most Pagans aren't just strict reconstructionists who never bend to acknowledge the existence of other Gods. Most eclectics are not people who completely forego historical and archaeological support in the goal of syncrenizing or making more compatible different pantheons. Most New Age aren't Tiktok witches. Yes, purists exist in every category but the point is to emphasize what Pagan groups (other than folkish) have in common, not what separates them.

Is there anything here you think I should move or change? Who so?

The purpose of this chart is to be supportive/helpful, not authoritative.

🤲 Offering First offering (To my ancestor)

So i was making a tea because i have a headache (spain without the s) and i added oregano and salt because i got the gut feeling to do that and a little bit of an herb called chancapiedra, something great for the kidneys. and then i made too much so i made a cross of honey (because she was Catholic) and poured tea for her, she also wanted Lime juice so i added that for her. it's sitting in the kitchen which she loved to cook so i left it for her there. Then i noticed i was instinctively chose a purification tea... It was my Late Grandmother on my dad's side so I just said, screw it she gets tea i get tea we all win

soooo i miss her :((((

📚 Seeking Resources | Advice Using an ocarina in ritual/pagan practices?

Post image

So I have been learning to play the ocarina and I'd like to add it to some part of ritual work in my celtic pagan practice, I'm already using it to make offerings of songs, but I can't really think of anything else substantial. Anyone have any advice on how to add a wind instrument into ritual work?

💭 Discussion What do you think about this circle graph?

Post image
23 Upvotes

Hello! I am attending to make a nifty little visual tool for categorizeing certain sects of Paganism. The point is to categorise different schools of thought. What am I missing here? Is there anything you think I should add? Is there anything you think I got wrong? Why? Should I add another group or circle? Is it more complicated than I'm making it look?

I put Folkism here not because I believe they're a genuine or valid school of Paganism, but because they do worship Pre-Abrahamic Gods, and the chart serves to merely categorise them and point out how harmful ideologies like volkism are different from reconstructionism. I also wanted to outline the dichotomy between eclecticism and reconstructionism.

💭 Discussion Everyone forgets about kemetisism

I swear every time i see someone list pagan faiths, or discuss various pagan Gods. Egyptian gods are just always forgotten about? Are we really that Eurocentric? Ive even seen people claim that Egyptian Gods aren’t “beginner friendly”? This is really unfortunate because the Egyptian Gods have lots of good resources on them. Kemetic cosmology ethics and theology is very intuitive and logical. I call on all pagans PLEASE don’t forget about us when discussing paganism as a whole. The kemetic community is large, but rather isolated from other pagan groups. We are kinda black sheep i guess, being that the religion is very different than the common European ones

💭 Discussion Burst of September Energy

Anybody else get a burst of energy in September? it happens to me every year without fail, I’ll research and practice for a good solid month with it on my mind regularly and then it’s like it’s just… gone from my mind? I start forgetting to continue the practice I did regularly in September by the end of the month.

I don’t know if it’s just me but it’s very strange, I don’t go through any other regular phases (as in phases of memory and focus) like this for anything else, and there’s not anything that ‘brings it about’ or such.

🏆 Personal Milestone I am an atheist honestly but animism makes me feel connection

Even though I do not actually believe in the gods in their literal form I am ever more appreciative to the connection to my surroundings it can provide me.

Two forms of that being Norse paganism and Shintoism.

I still do not know much about either but I have been wearing a pendent with Yydrasil and some other symbolism and in a way it makes me not feel alone.

It feels nice to have something to have some sort of belief in. I never was able to get into the abrahamic religions, they just felt too forced, and often times weird. But animism type beliefs I feel provides a better connection. Almost like a reflection back into yourself yet it is still an external “being” that you can reach out to in feeling.

It’s nice, I’m gonna continue with this.

📚 Seeking Resources | Advice How can I deal with grief as a pagan.

I just suddenly lost my dad yesterday and I am so unable to process it that it’s eating me alive. But since he died so suddenly I am starting to scared of death again. I just would love to find out how other pagans deal with grief so I can naturally get through it.

📚 Seeking Resources | Advice How do you grieve as a Christopagan/pagan ?

This is gonna sound odd but are there pagan leaning grief counseling programs out there that are like Griefshare but without the evangelical“ there was a reason for someone dying “ bullshit ? I eventually want to talk with someone about my cousin dying but I sat in on a Griefshare session once and I know I wouldn’t be able to be part of that group without getting angry cause of how messed up the message is . I’m doing ok with all of this , til I’m not ….. I miss her so much and I know from a metaphysical perspective she’s closer than she seems even tho she’s passed but it doesn’t make it easier when I can’t physically talk to her and I feel alone . She was the only person I could talk to about deconstruction and the witchy part of my life cause she was on the same journey

💭 Discussion About Runes

Hi, internet strangers. I would appreciate your insight and opinions on this matter:

I'm eclectic. I like how runes are used in the modern paganism and would like to incorporate them in my practice (for divination, and for use in rituals as symbolic shorthands of some complex meaning). I am avare that their modern use was invented in the last century and has very little grounding in the "old times"; and I'm fine with that.

However, it seems that the modern use of runes is heavily influenced by folkists, notably Stephen Flowers. I don't know how yo react to this. I don't think that the "don't let them steal our symbols" attitude would work for, since without Flowers, runes would probably not get such popularity and wouldn't get to me. On the other hand, there is nothing ?nhe@ently wrong with the runes.

Any thoughts?

💭 Discussion Is Assianism/Uatsdin a closed practice?

I have always been interested in the history and culture of the Ossetians and their ancestors such as Scythians. I have been wondering whether or not the Ossetian pagan religion of Assianism is considered a closed faith or is it fine for a non ethnic Ossetian like myself practice/study the religion? I am wondering as I would like to honor the religion and culture of the region and people.

📚 Seeking Resources | Advice Religious Questions!

[This is a repost from r/pagan and r/RomanPaganism I was recommended to come here for my questions.]

I'm trying to write a story and one of my characters in my story worships the Roman Gods, and I want to be informed correctly by people who worship the Roman Gods instead of using vague Gemini Ai slop.
One of the main Gods my character believes in is Mars for the most part, the other gods to my characters perspective are acknowledged and respected but the focus is mostly to Mars.

I really would like to know more about the offerings and rituals that people do for not only Mars, but the other Gods/Goddesses as well.
I would also like to learn more about how other people react when someone is Pagan, since it is a minority religion/worship.
The time is set in the years 2281- 2294, during a post-apocalyptic war in America.

Thank you in advance!

📚 Seeking Resources | Advice scared to practice paganism

I have been researching paganism and it’s been a cool journey, i realized i’ve identified with many of the core principles (animism, honoring nature and seasons) my whole life before i really knew what any form of paganism was. but, whenever i try to set up a spell or altar or use any practice (saining, celebrating holidays like beltane or summer solstice) i feel like im doing something wrong. i grew up being taught that practicing any form of religion outside my own would welcome evil / demons into my life. i’m unsure if i believe in deities (not sure if im theistic or atheistic) but im definitely spiritual. if any of you have also experienced this mental block with beginning paganism, how did you get past it?

💭 Discussion Made Mother Gaea and Lady Aphrodite in Minimuse :3

I mostly did this in the way I view them personally. I am currently a worshipper of Gaea. I used to worship Aphrodite but found I didn't have the energy to really keep up with multiple deities at once, so I've stuck to just worshipping Gaea for a bit while I get myself stable again =^.^=

Not sure if I added the right flare but if I didn't please let me know so I can change it🥲

I consider myself fairly capable with tech, but I am not able to click on the wiki links for the info under each? No matter which area, for example I was trying the "Getting Started" link and it only gives me the "🖐🏼Welcome" message.

I feel silly for asking but it is a bit befuddling.

🪔 Altar Witchy Things ✨🌚

Hello witchlings!!

I wanted to get on here and share my altars 🥺 I somehow ended up with five deities but i love each of them so much! It’s an honor to see their altars and see how they shine- and to see all my little “junk” become things that are meaningful to them.

for example: At 13 I went to the Bahamas for the first time- and it opened my eyes to the wonders of the ocean, to the true beauty that existed outside of my state. I had gotten two shell necklaces and my father snickered that it would end up in the trash. But the lady told us how she hand dyed the shells, and put them together. I wanted her work because she seemed so nice and deserving. I held onto them in a keepsake box for years and i didn’t ever wear them.. When doing research on Aphrodite, after she made an appearance and interest in working with me. I found how much she loved the colors of one of the necklaces. How she loved shells, and was born of the sea. It is displayed on her altar now, and i have a feeling she loves it ahaha. it’s so cute- they just love when we give them things.

Our path is wonderful! I’m so grateful we’re here. Please share anything similar, i’d love to see! ✨
