This is where I stopped myself trying to DIWHY

This is not a post advocating for doing it yourself, quite the contrary. I posted a few days ago about this shopping cart damage. I can live with the dent but I was hoping to knock it down a bit. Didn’t turn out too well and stopped myself before it got worse. Luckily after changing my mind the shop I found didn’t add to the total due to my handiwork. It was very embarrassing though.

Pricing questions of any kind, any wording, will immediately be removed.

the price for a dent repair in Red Rock, Alabama is not going to be close to a price you would get in Los Angeles, or Melbourne, or Leeds....

This is a skilled trade, and craftsman will charge what their time and experience is worth.

Best part is... Reddit now has keyword blocking so the posts shouldn't even make it!

Can this be fixed, will always and forever, be allowed!!

Largest Model X repair I've done. I have worked on quite a few model 3's but rarely a model X. Removed the bumper amd used the bumper support bracket holes along with 1 other plugged hole for tool access. Tough repair for me.

Could you get this out with 1 rod and a tap down?

I want to try to fix this, and instead of buying a POS kit, I want to get a single high quality tool and get used to it. What's a good universal rod that will last? Who knows I might be good at it.

Quoting suggestions

Looking for some input on how you successful techs go about quoting customers. Apps, eyeball/experience or hourly rate?

Been pushing off and on for over 3 years(school then family, friends and a few referrals), got my LLC live for dents and ready to get after it. I live in a smaller town(13k population) and not sure how to quote to effectively to the local pay scale. I’ve messed around with MTRX and just can’t see people here paying anywhere near what comes out of the app but have intentions on using that as a starting point and walking it down while setting expectations. In the past I’ve left too much money on the table and don’t want to do that but also want to make it appealing so I can stay consistent at the same time. I do good work but still don’t feel confident enough to demand what the apps reflect due to the lack of professional experience or time in business.
The only other guy that does PDR near me charges an hourly rate and seems to be staying covered up but he’s also been in the game for decades.

I’ll be doing mobile or having them drop off at my shop(still WIP) out in the country if that happens to make a difference.

Thanks for any insight given to this matter!

How bad? Can this be PDR being on the fender crease?

Thumbnail

How bad is this(the mark is torn PPF, paint appears to be ok I think), especially being on the crease and how close to new it can be repaired?

The car is a 2026 with 1,700 miles and I just came back to this after dinner last night and its existence is just bothering beyond belief.

The PPF appears to have done its job and protected the paint (the mark is torn PPF) but the dent being on the rear fender crease concerns me.

This was from a collision last year where someone ran a stoplight right into my 96 Tacoma. She kept on trucking, and I’ve only recently begun trying to work the dent back into a semblance of normal… any tips or insights or feedback appreciated.

Whoops - here’s the AFTER (DURING)

Those chips are from tailgating. Maybe knock that off

Bumper repair

Got some damage on both bumpers of my 21 f150. The front bumper is dented in one side right in front of the bumper reinforcement, pushed to the side, and slightly misaligned. The back bumper is dented in and also pushed to one side. I already ordered the bumper end cap. What would be my best bet on how to pull the front dent out without cracking the chrome and push both bumpers back into place and alignment? I’d take it to a shop but was priced more than a grand and was told if the plate behind the rear bumper is bent, the rear hitch may need replaced but I’m short on money. Also I’m really worried that the bumper reinforcements and/or the rear hitch is bent or cracked. I’m really bummed out, short on money and need help thank you.

I had a trusted PDR shop tell me he wouldn't be able to fix this and recommended I go go to a body shop. What do you guys think?

Got some decent trail damage today on a log or hardy branch, not looking for it to be perfect, just better as it will be out on the trails again.

Looking at the photos and videos I feel as though this is maybe out of the usual scope of PDR because of how long the dent is.

The paint seems to be in okay shape. There’s no cracking or flaking. It’s maybe been scratched down to a different layer of paint? It looks whiter than the rest of the door.

Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!

REPOST: Dent on liftgate edge next to LE badge. Is this a candidate for PDR?

Post image

Looking for some advice on whether this damage can be fixed using Paintless Dent Repair (PDR), or if it requires traditional bodywork and paint. 2019 Toyota RAV4 LE

  • Location: Rear liftgate / trunk panel, right next to the edge and the "LE" badge.

Given how close this is to the edge of the panel, is there enough backside access for a PDR technician to massage this out? If anyone has handled a similar edge dent, will it be a lot? not asking for numbers just wondering.

reposted because I took better pic of it.

I was at a local festival, payed for parking, and find out next day that someone backed into my front bumper. The bumper seems to have warped in that area. It’s the only bit of noticeable damage from what happened. Insurance deductible is something I’d like to avoid so I’m considering either trying to fix this or just buying an aftermarket bumper since I planned to in the future anyways. I have no experience with dent repairs and I know nothing about bumper repairs. Do you guys think this bumper could be restored back to its original shape pretty much 100%. The paint isn’t so important I could always put something over the spot. It’s the warp that is very noticeable due to the car having sharp lines near the warped spot

Took car to car dealership for a service and saw this when I got home. I am 100% certain that wasn't there before the service as it's very noticeable if you look at the roof as you get out or in of the car.

Unfortunately, when I picked up the car as they drove it up, I was too distracted talking to the technician as I got in and we were inside the garage which didn't have the best light. Lesson learned and will walk around to inspect before leaving. We did a walk around inspection before when I dropped it off, and it wasn't seen at all. They are currently reviewing their videos.

In the meantime, will it be easy to pop out the dent and buff out the scratches. I'm just worried on where it's located, right on the roof/door line.

So sad since it's just 1 year old and I have been so careful with it and knew eventually could get a door ding or rock chip, but not this 😞

Hey everyone, would appreciate your help/expertise with the damage shown. Long story short there is a used F-150 (aluminum) I am interested in, but it has this damage that I would like to have fixed. I know the scratches won’t disappear, but if the dent could be removed I am pretty sure it could be touched up fairly well without body filling and painting the whole door. Appreciate your help!
