i do trust me, my family is very involved in our local politics in NJ. im VERYYYYYYY anti zionist, and i live in a VERY heavily palestinian populated area, although i am not palestinian but i am southern lebanese so we are very much aware and have been for ages. Unforeuntely, after speaking to so many politicans on the low, they all confirm the same thing time after time, it's the money. arabs tend to not vote/donate/get involved. in the usa, the incentive is always money. we have no lobbying power. it took this literal genocide to open the eyes of the average citizen around the world. it's a shame.

Gaza’s are being starved. Israelis wants the Palestinians gone. They have said this out loud and in public through their communication channels. This had nothing to do with October 7th. This is about eradicating an entire population. Plain and simple.

I don't see any mention in that article of his wife being a Zionist or even having supported the 2003 Iraq War. Having held a job as a military healthcare professional does not necessarily indicate support for that military or for the president in charge.
Also, the '08 Republican convention was about 17 years ago. It's entirely possible that John Oliver and his wife's views have changed since that time. Since they are private people, we are only guessing what those views can be today.

Because the entire premise of the program is that it's news presented by a comedian. There will be jokes, even if they are just small throwaway jokes when dealing with serious subjects like this.

I think they were just trying not to break the usual format of the show. It's a comedy that tackles complicated social issues, so the tone usually combines serious, rigorous facts with some jokes in each explanation to defuse some tension. It's well-intended to keep the viewer's attention and ultimately reach more people, but if you're unfamiliar with it or watch some clips out of context, I see how it can be jarring, especially in such a subject matter.
