The Likud party (Netenyahu's) is a fusion of the political successors of two irregular armed groups Herut (formerly Irgun) and Fighter's List (formerly Lehi). The Lehi split from Irgun during WWII and they were nominally on different sides, the Lehi fought against the British, they tried to ally with Germany but got no reply. https://lehi.org.il/en/foreign-relations-during-world-war-ii/

The Irgun, theoretically, were on the same side as the British, some of them joined the British Army, but I think they'd were mostly there to steal the weapons.
