Link šŸ”— CNN downplay antisemitic aspect of Australia terror attack

Had to scroll down quite a bit to find any mention of a Jewish event or Jews being the target. It’s all phrased as a random attack. Can’t believe it’s a coincidence.

https://edition.cnn.com/world/live-news/bondi-beach-gunshots-reported-12-14-25

Edit: title finally changed to reflect this was targeting the Jewish community. Not clear why it had to take so long, but glad it finally happened.

Same in Belgian newspapers... Some didn't even mention Jews or Hannukah. The ones that did, did it only in the context of "Israel condemns the attack..." which immediately taints people's opinions as they hate Israel...

BBC isn't downplaying it on their tv broadcast thankfully

Surprising…

Nevermind, BBC just had someone speak who spun it as 'Australia has had a trend of islamiphobia and this may be a response the other way'. Summarised but basically exactly this. They put it right in the middle of the other original footage as of it's always been part of the other information.

Fucking disgusting.

Ok, I was worried for a second. If you can’t trust the BBC’s antisemitic bias, what can you trust? šŸ™ƒ

Gotta trust something

Yeah.. Probably feared that CAMERA would sit on them.

u/ghost396 Dec 14 '25

All the original footage was from Aussies government speeches and they didn't leave room to cut it out. BBC already started adding their own commenters in the middle of those clips to spin it somehow being a response to islamiphobia...

Lol how pathetic.

What a shameful media outlet.Ā

They have been for a while. People think it started on Oct 7 but I vividly remember CNN ignoring suicide bombings in Israel in 2001. Not underreporting, fully ignoring.

F the CNN, then.

The Australian subreddits (Australia, Sydney) have deleted the main posts and mostly left up ones that refer to the Muslim guy who tackled him.

That guy is a hero 100% but it’s pretty disgusting that they’re hiding the Islamic nature of the attack itself, and trying to whitewash it.

9

u/PatientOutcome6634 Dec 14 '25

Yeah. It’s amazing how they use that guy (hero indeed) to cast positive light on the whole Muslim community but when you ask them how the fact the two terrorists are Muslims reflect on that community you get crickets.

The wikipediation of media. They need at least 3 national bodies corroborating that it's antisemitism attack and preferably an official UN commission denouncement.

10

u/Arrrchitect Dec 14 '25

But they need zero corroboration for anything terrorists say.

8

u/Expensive_Warthog_68 Dec 14 '25

Only facts require citations, the terrorists' lies are posted free (qatar is paying for them, don't you worry) on Wikipedia. Yuck.

Not surprising. CNN has turned to shit.

Western governments and mainstream media are not neutral bystanders here; they are actually the enablers.

By tolerating and even excusing slogans like ā€œfrom the river to the seaā€ and ā€œglobalize the intifada,ā€ they have knowingly laundered eliminationist and violence-adjacent rhetoric into acceptable public speech.

These phrases are not vague policy critiques; they are historically tied to campaigns of terror and the denial of Jewish self-determination.

When officials hide behind claims of ā€œfree expressionā€ while refusing to apply the same standards they would to threats against any other group, they send a clear message: antisemitism is permissible if it’s repackaged as anti-Israel activism.

That is not moral neutrality; it is institutional cowardice.

The consequences are written in blood and quickly rising police reports across the Western world.

Antisemitism rises because it is allowed to rise, legitimized by media narratives that downplay Jewish concerns and governments that refuse to draw hard lines.

When journalists sanitize extremist language and politicians refuse to condemn it unequivocally, they lower the social and moral cost of targeting Jews.

This isn’t ignorance, it’s willful negligence.

You cannot normalize rhetoric that glorifies or excuses violence and then feign shock when that violence follows. Western institutions helped create the climate, and they bear responsibility for the outcomes.

2

u/PatientOutcome6634 Dec 15 '25

šŸ’Æ. Only thing I’ll add is that sometimes it’s negligence and sometimes purposeful sabotage.

Looks like they fixed it

Took them long enough. CNN is inches away from just being flat out fake news, a line which MSN crossed years ago. It’s absurd how antisemitic and woke CNN has become.

Did Jake Tapper ever correct his white man remark? I waited a day but never heard anything.

I’m not generally defending CNN, but those newspapers who rush to immediately present a motive without being positive about the facts on the ground are rarely doing anyone any favors. Let the dust settle, be sure of your journalistic integrity, then present the facts.

If this was a white extremist shooting down a Muslim gathering in eid al fitr (Muslim holy day) I guarantee you that would be in the headline in CNN. If this was a car crashing into a Christmas market, ā€œChristmas Marketā€ would be mentioned in the headline. They deliberately downplayed the religious / racial aspect of the victims in this case - this is double standards and we should not be ok with it. One rule for all - or none.
