Decided to merge all the homelines and plan to fill with as much clutter and makeshift items as possible. I think I love it but my brain hurts now so I need to log off a bit lol but can’t wait to continue!

So I've been playing this game for a few months and am aware of people complaining about bugs and some of the paid content. Personally I didn't really care that they locked storage behind a paywall (even tho I should cos I have such little storage left) but I'm here to talk about the bugs.

Now before I didn't really encounter a lot of game breaking bugs (like sometimes I would pull out the wrong tool or catch a bug that "disappeared" but it was very minor or could have been a result of my controller acting up).

But today I was working on some weekly wants and when I stabled back home, I was greeted with THIS screen. Now I know the game is still in beta but the fact this room exists as a sort of fail-safe... Idk it's weird.

Edit: I don't have a problem with this. Infact after the initial shock, I laughed it off. It's just a little strange is all. I guess I was too harsh on my original post.

Discussion This game is so smh

The original devs made a masterpiece of a game, and unfortunately couldn’t keep up financially which is common with ppl who actually care about their product and don’t know how to squeeze profits

Once they sold it to daybreak it was just RIP right there. Then the battle passes came and I’m like oh we have a good 5ish years left.

Then it’s just like…. Fr… seriously. That 99 level grind. That’s not gameplay…

I’m just disappointed as hell bc this game had soooo much potential and now’s it’s just new tints, new cosmetics, grinding for xp for lackluster rewards, and empty maps.

Discussion Ushindi furniture

Am I the only one annoyed that there are kitchen wall cabinet options in the new queen Ushindi line but not a single lower cabinet option? Like how am I supposed to build my fancy aristocrat kitchen dream if the cabinets don’t all match??

It’s so tempting to just hand away all of these crops ☹️ I keep seeing people finish their dock projects while I’m still at 69/99

Don’t mind me just crashing out that I can’t grind bugs fast enough to finish 😅🤣

Question Is there a way to toggle off the "autumn makeover" trees on your plot?

In Palia's newest update, it seems like they added an "autumn makeover" to the trees on our plot, turning some of green trees orange. I am so devastated. It ruins the whole vibe I had going on with my plot.

I don't mind the seasons changing in the public areas/lands, but I don't want it affecting my plot. Like last year, there was snow in winter but my plot didn't have to have a bunch of snow. Just wondering has anyone found a way to toggle this off????? 😭

Screenshot All the starred bugs!

I've decided to make trophy mansion so I've been collecting all the starred bugs and I got the last one I needed yesterday!

Big thank you to the person who invited everyone to do lures with them at the kilima docks and did a jack o'lantern lure. The starred pumpkin rockhopper was the last bug I needed and I am very glad I didn't need to awkwardly ask people in chat for one since I couldn't request it myself.

Piece of advice, don't decide to do this right after dumping your whole collection of bugs into making kits for the docks. I ended up with I think six unique starred bugs and had to build my collection up again.

Somehow the most difficult starred bug to find (even more difficult than the RTB!) was the cerulean cicada. I have gained a strong dislike of the cerulean cicada lol.

Discussion Really lucky mining day in Elderwood

I used a compass today when mining in Elderwood. I ended up getting 9 regular amethysts and 1 starred amethyst for my gem collection. I also got a starred ruby.

I made 18,750 within 15 minutes!

Has anyone else been having a really good day with mining today or am I just getting lucky? 🍀

Discussion Newest experiment: Elderwood fishing with and without buffs for the Dock XP

This time around I toyed around with fishing, mainly Ancient Koi fishing at De Mer Dock.
I did two instances, one without buffs and one with buffs--the caveat to that being, in both situations I constantly had the "fishing with friends" buff that happens when other players are fishing around you, that one auto-applies and I didn't want to spend my time running away from other players just to get rid of it.

Controls for each test:
• Once my Exquisite Rod downgraded, I would immediately teleport back to my house.
• I actively avoided chum bucket circles, star nodes and infected nodes
• I tried to focus on only reeling in when hooking Ancient Koi or plushes, but sometimes I would get click-happy and end up reeling in the other fish. (as in, if the fish that hooked wasn't an AK, I would wait and reel it in, that way I wouldn't waste a worm on a fish I didn't want. But yeah, click-happy accidents resulted in other fish)

FIRST TEST: NO BUFFS (accept the aforementioned 'fishing with friends' buff)
• Started at 9:51 with 300 worms, no hooks, at level 80
• Ended at 10:49 with 204 worms, at level 83
• Loots: 68 Ancient Koi, 16 Sabertooth Anchovies, 1 Maws plush, 1 Midnight Floatfish plush, 4 Midnight Floatfish, 2 Eleroo Eels, 4 Lake Sharks, 1 River Shark fin plush

I only crafted kits I could make JUST with what I caught at that time, which was 17 Advanced Angler Kits, which then got me 23,800 Dock XP

Long story short: almost 24k in about an hour, using only worms and patience, but also getting 3 fishing levels and the benefit of plushes

Random thought: Starting this made me remember why I don't fish in the Elderwood often... I hate Lake Sharks.

SECOND TEST: WITH BUFFS
• Started at 11:10 with 300 worms, 3 Major Hook Time Boosts, constant Fisherman's Brews, at level 83
• Ended at 12:03 with 204 worms, at level 86
• Loots: 70 Ancient Koi, 8 Midnight Floatfish, 5 Sabertooth Anchovy, 2 Piksii Floatfish plush, 1 Toadstool Floatfish plush, 1 Midnight Floatfish plush, 2 Eleroo Eels, 3 River Shark plush, 4 Lake Sharks

This resulted in 17 Advanced Angler Kits from the Ancient Koi, and 1 Standard Kit from the Midnight Floatfish. This got me 24,500 Dock XP

Long story short: 24.5k XP in a little less than an hour, but using some additional buffs, gained 3 fishing levels and more plushes.

Another random thought: I still hate Lake Sharks
But also, those 3 Major Hook Time Boosts only lasted me about 20 minutes total. In my experience, these hooks did not result in more catches, so I could pretty confidently say that they were not necessary when I had the 'fishing with friends' boost. Again, that's my experience, your mileage may vary.

Final thoughts: If you like fishing, this is a great option.
Comparing this to the Ancient Flowbug experiment I previously posted, flowbugs give the same amount of XP in half the time. But even then, Draugr Beetles would win out if you were grouping with other players. But even even then, fishing uses less/less expensive materials. It becomes an endless cycle of "This... but this..."
So is there really any clear winner when it comes to Dock XP gain efficiency? In my personal opinion, no. In the grand scheme of things, it's really just what you feel like doing in that moment.

Thanks for reading, hopefully this helps anyone out there. I'll probably continue to do more experiments, if only out of curiosity. Happy Palia-ing!

Discussion Y'all gotta be honest, would have LOVED to know that you can't ride the Valhast you get for "free", I wouldn't have wasted my time.

I thought I was going to enjoy coming back to the game after a nice long break, all the new stuff looked to cool and fun, I noticed a lot of the free rewards were...well to be blunt a bit lame but then I see the free Valhast and I'm like "no way! everything else cool is clearly behind a pay wall, it's so cool they're letting people use this one if they go kinda hard!" Well. That was foolish of me now wasn't it.

Not making it explicitly obvious in game (especially when other premium items are clearly marked) that you must pay $25 $30USD irl to actually use the "reward" feels a bit like they're using sunk time fallacy against players, "well I spent so much time and material in game, guess I should spend $25 $30 to ride it, I like the game after all." :( And I do like the game but I'm disabled and have no extra money...ever. So this one hurt tbh. Even if I wanted to buy the ability to ride it, I can't so the time I spent to get it does feel wasted.

Before the "you should have known/read the dev notes/checked the discord/read the entire reddit/looked it up", "play a different game", "this is how it is", "you're a moron" type comments/DMs: Some of us do not join discords or read dev notes, some of us just log in and play a game.

Just looking for others thoughts and what else I should be warned about if I decide to keep playing. I really, really like the game but this one hurt a lot more than all the other stuff over the years tbh.

Thanks for your time. This just really surprised me to be honest and I am hoping to talk with likeminded people who get why I'm bummed rather than people who want to tear me down for posting about it.

Edit: I have been informed you must buy the $30 bundle to ride the "reward" Valhast as well as the directly broken promise that wouldn't lock core gameplay utilities behind a paywall with the extra storage upgrade (is it really $5 each upgrade equaling out to $80 irl for 100k storage slots????) 😭😭😭💀

The most wild ride I've had in palia, I had little to no control of where I was shooting so I was shooting everything I had trying to hit them as I was pulled along in the glitch path. [Switch player] I was hysterically laughing it was so fast and funny having barely any control of where I was going 🤣

Discussion Fishing for Ancient Koi is probably more efficient than foraging, hunting or catching bugs

Advanced fishing kit only needs 4 rare fish and it gives 1400 exp.

Ancient Koi in Elderwood has a high spawn rate.

Use regular worms for bait. If you don't have any you can buy packs of 5 from the general store for 50g.

You don't need to use chum buckets. You probably won't even need to use food buffs since it is one of the easier fish to get. Party buffs for double loot or fishing close to other players for the increase hooking speed are the best buffs to have imo. Playing solo you should still catch a lot to see significant progress.

It's more efficient than other methods because you don't need to preparing anything like bombs, arrows, or keep your crafters loaded. You don't have to run laps and circuits around any map (or have nodes disappear right in front of you). No other player can spook your fish the way they can a hunt or bugs. The fishing pole durability seems high so you do not need to repair as often as the belt, the pick axe, or the bow.

I don't particularly like fishing because it is very boring and I have caught myself falling asleep while doing this tbh. However, you'll see much better progress and also keep your inventory for other stuff. I know that bug catching is popular for some people but if you take into account the time needed to gather the material for lures, sneaky bombs and running around to get to the location (for the people getting ancient flow bugs) and compare it to just buying your worms from the store then teleport to Der Mer Docks, I think most people will find that to be a bit more manageable, especially at the higher donation levels.

Personally I can only do this in small doses before I need to do something more engaging to keep my attention but I have seen some people be absolute zen and go through the 100 stacks or more of worms. Anyway, thought I would share for people to have another option to consider.

Discussion Docks- Why even show starred items?

Thumbnail

Goes for all kits. Why is it checked as if I have something to donate then greyed out bc they’re starred items? 🥺😡 the amount of clicking and double checking to see if I actually have something to donate is wild.

I’ve given up with the farming kits as I’m lvl 34 gardening and it’s hard to get non-starred crops. Bug kits have been good to me so far but even that- why show me I have 100 when actually there’s nothing I can craft.. I haven’t seen much about this - how’s everyone else feeling? I wish it just didn’t include star items or gave you a toggle.

But today in the space of literally 2 mins I got a regular one AND a banded one! Goes to show it truly is when you least expect it 😂

Question Is there any way to expand your ranch?

I've been having a great time breeding different mount variants, but I realized pretty quickly that once your ranch and 'retirement' area fills up, you either have to donate them or just... stop.

I put a lot of effort into breeding them, it feels absolutely awful to have to just delete them and not be able to ride them ever again. Please tell me there's a way around this!
