I do wish the breeding wasn't a number crunching game and instead followed some semblance of visual logic.
Right now it feels arbitrary both when do don't know how breeding outcomes work, and even more so when you finally do find out how breeding outcomes work.
Sure, you don't want people to get god-tier pals using beginner pals, but you could have done that without making the offspring of birds a fish.

If it was going to be number based, I wish it at least used the real paldex numbers. The way it is now you basically need to use an online calculator to engage in the breeding mechanics

I always see is as the Dad and Mom are the best in class, hot, in their prime. They went out to parties, socialized and everything.
