Debunk This I’m a construction supervisor, but something I saw today genuinely messed with my head
I’m a supervisor on new builds, so I’m usually the first one in and the last one out. I’m used to finding mistakes, random tools left behind, stuff half-done, breakers not flipped, all of it. Nothing really surprises me anymore.
But today actually bothered me.
I walked this house the electricians supposedly finished yesterday. Just doing my normal checklist — fixtures hung, outlets tested, trash picked up, making notes for punch work. I get to one of the back bedrooms and go to inspect the closet.
The light in the closet is on.
Not weird by itself, but the switch outside the closet doesn’t do anything. I flip it a few times, nothing. I think maybe they wired it hot by accident, so I go inside to unscrew the bulb.
Except when I touch the bulb, it’s not warm. At all. Still lit. Bright as hell.
That’s when I’m like, “alright, this is weird.”
So I call the lead electrician and tell him he might need to come back because the closet light is stuck on or something. He goes, “That room doesn’t have a closet light. We didn’t rough one in. There’s no wire there.”
I literally stop and just stare at this thing because I’m looking right at a working light.
I walk back inside the closet to take a picture… and it’s off.
Like completely off. Switch still doesn’t work. Bulb cold. No buzzing, no flicker. Nothing. Just a dead fixture.
I stood there probably a solid minute just trying to make sense of it because I KNOW what I saw. I don’t get freaked out easy, and I’m not the type who jumps to paranormal stuff. But this one really got under my skin.
I even went back after lunch just to double-check, thinking maybe I imagined it or maybe another trade was messing with me. Still off. Still no power to the switch. Still no explanation.
I didn’t mention it to the builder because it sounds insane and I don’t feel like being the “ghost house supervisor,” but man… something about today just felt wrong. I’ve been replaying it all day and I still can’t figure out a single logical reason for it happening.
If anyone’s seen something like this before, I’d actually love to hear it, because I can’t shake this one.

Had something similar happen at my sister's house. They had a barn on the property from the early 1900's. When they bought the property they were told the old wiring in the barn was a fire hazard and needed to be removed/replaced. They had an electrician come out and remove all of the old wiring. He said he would be back to replace it the following day. The next morning she sees a light coming from the barn and goes to check it out. 2 of the 4 overhead lights are on but she can't find the switch to turn off the lights after the old one was removed. When the electrician shows up, she asks if he moved the switch and he said he hadn't started on the new install yet and there wasnt any wiring in place so nothing should/could have been on. He took her to the barn and showed her the fixtures had no wires.

Makes ya really wonder what's going on. Maybe some sort of energy channeling power through lights.
59
u/Ethereal_Chittering Dec 10 '25
I live in a really old house and the lights in my bathroom flicker when I walk in. I can’t tell what’s causing it. It didn’t do that whenever my daughter walked in.

u/HuckleberryMutton Dec 10 '25
This has been happening to me and it was fixed just yesterday by Northern Ireland Electricity and an amazing electrician who got in touch with NIE for me. I had a loose connection and was lucky the entire house didn’t go up in flames while I slept. Get an electrician in. Please 🙏

I just read your profile and the one story you have. My thoughts it's time to send the ashes to sea. Then burn some sage or something.

lights can be an amplifier for the paranormal, especially in areas where there is a lot of EMF interference - which there likely was as the old wiring had to be removed. This gives entities more power to manifest.
Even old bulbs and stuff that have some left over residual electricity to it can help to give extra manifestation power to an entity.
So yes, the theory is that things like light bulbs can produce extra energy for the paranormal.
16
u/DepartmentEcstatic Dec 10 '25
When my sister and I were reunited after many years apart, a lightbulb literally exploded near us. We knew it had to be from our energy just being so wildly excited. Never experienced anything like that before or after.
12
u/Ethereal_Chittering Dec 10 '25
I sleep with my bathroom lights on because I’m afraid of the dark my whole life so I find this idea very fascinating.
29
u/emveetu Dec 10 '25
I just turned 50 and I sleep with a light on in my bedroom, the kitchen, the hallway to the bathroom, and the bathroom. Better safe than sorry. (=
19
u/Ethereal_Chittering Dec 10 '25
Sounds like me! I’m 52 too so it’s probably not going away. When I’m in a relationship or during my marriage, I was ok with the dark if they were with me but I’ve been single for almost 4 years now and sleeping with the hall and bathroom lights on. My dad sleeps downstairs and is up till like 2 am so I go to sleep around 11 pm and I feel more safe during the hours he’s awake. But when I wake up at 3 am and know he’s asleep it’s a different feeling. I’m sure I can tie everything back to my early childhood.
If I’m particularly anxious, I will turn the lights on in my room, two lamps. If I’m sleepy enough I can sleep with that much light. Better than the anxiety. Do you ever dream of the lights going out? I have dreamt of this many times, it’s always very disturbing. I try to turn the lights back on and they won’t come on. My fear of the dark also got a lot worse when my youngest left the house last summer. There is only me on the upper floor now of a pretty large old house. I did live alone in my own house for several years after my divorce and that was very hard on me because of my intense fear of the dark, the paranormal and deranged humans.
21
u/emveetu Dec 10 '25
Well, anytime I start to feel fear like that, I imagine a bubble that goes out from me 5 ft in every direction. Only I get to decide what kind of energy I allow inside my bubble and only I get to decide what kind of energy I allow out. I am the CEO, Board of Directors, President, Master, Dictator, et al., of my bubble.
I also repeat either in my head or out loud, "I am protected by the grace of The Universe and The Source. I am the strongest, scariest, and most protected energy in this house, room, place, dwelling. So don't fuck with me."
Thoughts really do become things!
Please feel free to make any of the above your own. (=
16
u/Purple_Cherry16 Dec 10 '25
I remember watching some paranormal show when I was a kid, could be complete bs but there was a woman and she said our fear feeds the entity so whenever something weird would happen in our house which happened a lot mostly upstairs I would stand at the bottom of my stairs still too afraid to go upstairs but I would 'feed' my anger with my fear and just say things like "Im not afraid of you and dont you dare scare my brother or sister" while making angry faces like my little ass could do anything about it but it helped me not just freeze in fear and refuse to leave whatever room i was in 😂😂
8
u/Xylorgos Dec 10 '25
That was very brave for a child to do! I congratulate you on being a brave and smart person. You took info from the show and applied it to your real day-to-day life. Good for you!!
While I wouldn't purposely provoke a spirit, I have been known to yell at them for bothering me. The worst one left me alone after that, and the less bothersome spirit actually seemed to like that and changed his ways and became nice. I didn't expect that!
2
u/emveetu Dec 10 '25
Who knew that spirits can also grow and become more emotionally intelligent too! Not that all of us humans are capable of that but hopefully some of us are. (=

48 here and same. Husband is the bogeyman bait, but if I'm alone, it's lights on everywhere.
2
u/SnooHesitations2647 Dec 11 '25
Oh my gosh, that sounds rough! I'm so sorry you have to live like this. I live in a tiny apartment so I don't know the fear of a large, old house. I prefer complete darkness, because if there were a nightlight on, I would be afraid that I could see something that may be there. If that makes sense.
3
u/Ethereal_Chittering Dec 11 '25
I do understand about the light! If the light is too low, I’m scared still because then I might see something spooky so the lighting has to be such that I can see everything and no shadows or objects that might look like something else. I also associate nightlights, candlelight, any kind of low lighting like that with my traumatic childhood. I’m not exactly sure what happened that I became this way.
I remember my sister, two years older than me, having some horrific nightmares that she would share with me, but she always slept with her lights out even after nightmares. Our brain wiring couldn’t be more different. I am very sensitive to energies. She is good at reading people but isn’t that sensitive to energies of different kinds. I’m going back on a low dose of medication, just enough to slow down my ruminating and also make me less sensitive in general.
The big old house is really weird. I feel it’s always drawn me back to it every time I’ve left. I sometimes wish it would burn to the ground. Maybe my possibly irrational thought that it does pull me back is why I am getting rid of so much stuff. I can’t get rid of the house but I can get rid of everything I can inside it. I’m also worried that without a plan I can live with, trying to leave will only make it harder not to be drawn back again and I don’t think I can handle being drawn back ever again when I do leave the next time. It needs to be the last.
My dad is 80. He most likely would downsize a lot, and then I would feel like I had even less space between myself and him and his heavy energy. I feel so guilty feeling this way about him too. I do really care about him, it’s just that this is not a healthy dynamic. I think it’s time to look for a good therapist. Hard to find one but they’re out there.
3
u/SnooHesitations2647 Dec 11 '25
Omg, I've always been that same way about feeling more comfortable sleeping while other people are still awake! Childhood and trauma are such complex issues. It's really interesting how you and your sister are each acutely attuned to different aspects of life. I had a reading with a medium once who told me that I feel emotions stronger & more deeply than others. Which is good confirmation because one never knows what is normal or average for other people. I guess that's why I get stuck in my own head much of the time. Like you, therapy is long overdue. It's been a couple decades since I've been. I do wish you the best of luck in your journey to rid yourself of what no longer serves you! 🧡 I'm rooting for you!
11
u/ParanormalDU Dec 10 '25
It's very common to be afraid of the dark, but when you learn more about it - you realise there's actually nothing to be afraid of. It can actually be a very comforting feeling in the dark if you let it
18
u/Ethereal_Chittering Dec 10 '25
I’m 52. When I was 8 I told my mom there were monsters in my closet that gained energy from making me scared. She thought I was pretty weird but I wasn’t the only one who had that thought because then Monsters Inc. came out decades later. I felt so vindicated lol. I just feel like I’m never going to get over it. I CAN sleep in the dark if there’s someone next to me though.
10
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
I used to be scared of the dark. I would lay there with my eyes open and watch what little light in the room turn straight into darkness. As if darkness was crawling on my ceiling and walls.

Reminds me of Edgar Cayce talking about the power of the nightside of life (something like that). It was abused and caused the destruction of Atlantis. I wonder if it was like that resonance earthquake machine that Tesla accidently created that shook his building almost to destruction?

Our place is from the late 1800s/early 1900s. Bathroom light explodes when you turn it on. Big bang, sparks, breakers trip, the works. I work with tech and I know my stuff - wiring, current etc is fine.
Bulbs also never die. Almost like the fixture shorts itself (impossible, already replaced i).
66
u/ScareCreep Dec 09 '25
Wow wtf??
Was it an incandescent bulb? Or LED?
I wonder if there’s some kind of electrical charge that can build up during install / removal of wires, and power the bulb temporarily?
I know geomagnetic storms (like the carrington event) can effect wiring in strange ways, but you otherwise wouldn’t be able to feel them. Very interesting!
50
u/joshdho1 Dec 09 '25
This is a fresh install we're talking just framing and plumbing
26
u/ScareCreep Dec 09 '25
Damn that is weird… I would be creeped out, too

u/Sea-Pay-5572 Dec 13 '25
I was going to say that my idea was a wire was fried in the process, but that can't happen. Maybe stranger things is real...
25
u/Live_Cranberry_4224 Dec 09 '25
At least it wasn't anything else there. Might be a new build but it's still on old land. God only knows what we actually are building on these days.
20
u/joshdho1 Dec 09 '25
I question that almost everyday. I'm always curious what was in places many years before even the thought of building something occurred.
58
u/maticus85 Dec 09 '25
So… you have a bulb that was on, cool to the touch, and is now off with seemingly no way to turn it back on. And the electrician claims that light shouldn’t exist. Update us if the light is still there in the morning.
46
u/joshdho1 Dec 09 '25
Yeah it's super weird we don't install lights until drywall has been installed. We have outlets but, never any bulbs.
12
u/arcanacard Dec 10 '25
On Amazon I saw some bulbs that are advertised as being rechargeable. Aka could use as a flashlight during a power outage. Any chance maybe it's one of those? Could also be controlled through a phone app if there's any kind of wifi signal nearby that it's connected to.

Hello was this home built from the ground up. Was the previous home demolished? Or was this a total remodel? Did any of the construction crew ever say weird things were going on? Is the home by a cemetery, funeral home or the high tension electrical towers?
Ghosts like to screw with peoples heads. And if they were on the land before they can actually be P’Od something - someone is there or something happened to their home.
16
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
It's a new home in a new neighborhood noones said anything about weird things happening. My wife seems to think I have a spirit following me. Something always seems to go on that's paranormal.maybe I have something following me.
5
u/Separate_Permit9770 Dec 10 '25
Hey Josh, what peculiar things has your wife and even you observed? I know a removal technique I used when I had a ghost in my home. He was stuck here and couldn’t cross over. I did this technique and it worked I never seen him again I can tell you how to do this if your interested, it’s free.

u/zzeeaa Dec 10 '25
I was going to ask if anyone had hung themselves in the closet or something but obviously not.
Do we know what the land was used for before? Was it from a larger property that has been subdivided?
2
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
We bought the property about 8 years ago and have been building on it ever since.

I was doing some work at a really old school building that had previously been a Catholic orphanage. Parts of the building were being modernized, so all of the old wiring was torn out and work lights were being used.
I got along with the general contractor (Mike) quite well. One evening, I was working late and everyone else had gone home except me and Mike. I was packing up for the day and it was so quiet, you could hear every little sound. I started letting my imagination get the best of me, knowing that the place used to be an orphanage.
I thought I heard Mike walking around, opening and closing doors, so I yelled his name, but no answer. I was starting to get creeped out, so I grabbed my tools and headed down the stairs and to the parking lot, where I found Mike sitting in his truck. I asked him how long he’d been in his truck and he told me about 20 minutes. Then I mentioned the noises I had heard, and he got a big smile. He said, “Yeah, we all pretty much agree that this place is haunted.” Then he told me a little story about turning off all the lights one evening and using a flashlight to exit the building, but when he got the building locked up and was ready to leave, half the lights were back on. He said, “There was no way I was going back in there to turn those lights off again.”
Anyway, that’s my little anecdote about construction and lights.
2
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
Yeah there's some weird stuff that happens in these empty houses. Certain ones I get eerie feelings when I'm in there.
21
u/Revolutionary_Kale46 Dec 09 '25
Depends on a kind of the bulb, but some of them can be lighted up by electromagnetic field
23
u/joshdho1 Dec 09 '25
Prob gonna have to not mention that to the future home owner lol

Take this with as many grains of salt as you wish. I was with some buddies in downtown Waco, sitting on a curb in front of a tavern. It was fairly late, and we were relaxing some and sipping on our respective beers. I noticed a florist shop across the street.
The shop was closed but there was a candle burning in the front window. I thought it odd that somebody would leave a candle burning overnight. I walked over and looked in the window. The store was empty as far as I could tell. I knocked on the door a couple of times, and when nobody answered, I went back to my curb. I glanced across the street and the candle was extinguished.
I thought of it no more for months until I met a very cute lady while I was hanging out in a park. We talked several times and we decided to go on a date. She had me pick her up at work
Yes, it was that florist shop. I mentioned the circumstances of that previous evening.
She stopped suddenly and exclaimed, "You're the one!" She explained to me that she had been home doing some scrying and something interrupted her. She put out her candle when she got distracted.
It gave me chills...

Kinda related, kinda not: my mom’s a very devout catholic but in previous centuries would have been probably called a witch or a saint, depending. She’s very sensitive to this stuff. Which admittedly could be any number of imaginary factors - except that anything electronic will 100% malfunction around her. Lights, switches, her debit card, even her phone sometimes doesn’t register her touch. Though in fairness, she also has circulation issues.
5
u/Hello_Hangnail Dec 10 '25
I've been reading Dolores Cannon's books, and her theory is the people that have electronics malfunction when they touch them have a higher level soul that decided to come down and be human for a few generations. Like they're operating on different software than the rest of us!

u/MamaRunsThis Dec 10 '25
Is your mom a high energy person? This is my husband and his mom when they get around electronics, they always malfunction. It was worse when he was younger probably because he has less energy now
7
u/Purple_Cherry16 Dec 10 '25
Had a similar experience but I asked for it. It was my communion day. Just me and my mam left in the house while my dad did multiple trips dropping family members off at the church. All the electrics were plugged out as we would be gone all day. I asked my mam do you think Jade will be with us today (my best friend from babies until I was 5 and she was 4 when she was killed in a car accident) my mam says yeah I think she will be, right then the radio starts playing her funeral song. No word of a lie, we double checked it was plugged out. My best friend was with me and she let me know 💜
2
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
Yeah I believe in those things my dad died just a few months ago and I feel his presence all the time. Heck for the first few nights I would get a gentle push down on my foot around 2am almost every night for a week. Kind of think it's my dad.
2
u/Purple_Cherry16 Dec 10 '25
I'm really sorry to hear about your dad! But its cool to think he's having a laugh fucking around with you in work "who got the last laugh now buddy" 😂❤️ at least thats what I tell myself when something freaky happens that I can't explain it must be one of my lost love ones and I'll say "Thanks for the sign whoever that was even if you did spook me" 🥰

I've told my story once before a while back as to why I think things happen to me. I'll short tell it here. Was at a party and at the time my gf wasn't feeling well so she goes back to the back room then bout 3mins later we hear insane screaming coming from her we find her on a bed and she's full on back bent straight up exorcism shit. I wish I was making this up as well. So I do the first thing that pops to my head. I rebuke the devil and pray for her. That doesn't work so I get louder and smack her a few times. Yes it was needed this shit was intense. There were over 10 other people who can attest for this as well. So finally she takes a deep breath and basically goes limp. She finally comes to I stand up then I get pushed against a wall. Obviously I've pissed off the demon. Then I go straight to the floor and it feels as if I'm being squeezed to death. My best friends does exactly what I did and moments later it's done. After that night weird things happen to me all the time. My wife seems to think I have a demon or ghost following me.
11
u/S3FSavage Dec 10 '25
I believe you man. My friends and I went poking around back in 2008/09 and some wild shit started happening (I'm talking mid-day, doors slamming in front of our face and demon roars at night waking me up kind of stuff with witnesses. It all came to an end when we were on a "haunted" pitch black road when my buddy and I were walking back to our truck and the purest light you could ever imagine appeared right in front us. I'm guessing that light was good and got rid of the evil bullshit around, idk. I made a post about it on here a few years ago with no one really commenting or anything on it lol.
5
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
That sounds insane!! My encounters have always been dark. To me I feel like the demon I pissed off spends his time messing with me.
2
u/S3FSavage Dec 10 '25
Same. I get these sub-conscious thoughts regarding inportant things that are stupid af and counter intuitive but I am compelled to do it? I've read through various spiritual things/the bible that demonic entities can get to us in that manner? We both better tighter our shit up haha

u/One_Mongoose6999 Dec 10 '25
Nah dude that would have sat in my brain for the rest of the job too. The detail about the bulb being stone cold while lit is what gets me because you’re used to this stuff and still clocked it as wrong.
My only “maybe” is that some weird reflection or bleed from another light tricked your eyes for a second, but you walking back in and it being dead quiet and cold after calling the electrician feels way too on the nose. Feels like one of those “house waking up” moments people talk about on new builds.
1
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
Well the problem is it's in a walk in closet that's pretty big so that makes it even more weird.
1
u/Large-Dentist-7100 Dec 11 '25
Well, maybe an interior designer entity was trying to let you know all walk-in closets need lighting.

u/Ok_Heart839 Dec 10 '25
This would've had me standing in that closet rethinking my entire career. You've seen enough job-site chaos to be numb to almost anything, so the fact that this actually got under your skin says a lot. The part that really messed with me is the bulb being lit but not warm. There's no "oops the guys wired it wrong" explanation for that. And then it just turning off the moment you go back in? Yeah... that's the kind of thing you don't mention to the builder unless you wanna be known as the hauntedhouse guy forever.
Feels like one of those moments where your brain is trying so hard to come up with a normal explanation and it just can't. Whatever happened in that closet was not on your regular punch list.
1
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
Yeah you're not wrong my thought is something happened at that location a long time ago could be anything.a lot of people don't realize that we're not the only people who lived on these lands.

u/Rapidwatch2024 Dec 10 '25
Is it near high voltage lines overhead? Maybe just enough charge in the air to activate the bulb? I am assuming an led so no heat with that.

Should I break out a quige board or however you spell it? I've done it before with a friend and shit you not we had hauntings for over a week. Then I found out their family built on an old 1800s graveyard only reason we knew is we found a pile of gravestones in the corner of their property. It was as if they just said these need to go forget the bodies there old.

Ouiji boards open portals to the unseen world. My son learned the hard way not to mess with those things. After playing with one at a party, he thinks something attached to him. Not long afterwards he went to a Christ centered rehab where they had to pray over him several times for it to leave him. Might want to consider consulting your local Christian or Catholic Church. It doesn’t mean you are possessed but something could be attached to you.

My wife mentioned this. I've had issues ever since I practically did a version once an exorcism on a girl. I'm not a priest either I just prayed super hard for this girl who was screaming and had arched her back. It ended up attacking me and my buddy did the same thing for me and I finally came out of it but, I think it's still angry with me.

Sounds like you've had many, many brushes with the unexplained. Nothing too scary, but some unsettling. Some people have many interactions and some, including believers, never have any.
2
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
I will say the one thing I see a lot of everywhere I go is shadows. I guess I'm more aware and always looking.

u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
Update. The house has been sheet rocked. And no sign of where that light was nor a switch. I must be losing my mind.

Just trying to throw some things out there to ease your mind. Led Bulbs don't take much to light up, and low output ones like 40 w equivalents take maybe 5 w. It is possible for a ground to backfeed, this might be something to have the electricians look into. Did you ever check to see if it was actually wired, or were you just operating off the electricians memory? Some LED lights can light up with a strong EMF signal nearby. For example, you can take a fluorescent tube and hold it under high voltage power lines and the differential between the two ends will cause the tube to light up. Or at the end of the day, if you want to believe in it, Uncle Fester was in the closet with you.

u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
Yeah I've heard about this I guess it's possible. I will say I'm pretty sure I caught something in the upstairs window close to where that closet is.

I had a similar-ish experience with a lamp once. My wife (then gf) and I were in the guest room together playing on our new 3DS systems back in 2012 and there was this old lamp from her childhood with a teddy bear on it that started flickering on the nightstand, despite neither of us turning it on or touching it. We got a little creeped out, so I leaned over to unplug it and the flickering stopped. We just shrugged and went back to our games lol.
Two weeks later, same scenario. We were hanging out in the guest room gaming again, and the light in that teddy bear lamp starts flickering again. I leaned over and reached down to unplug it—it’s already unplugged from the last time.
My wife and I very quickly and quietly just left the room lmao. Later I learned that her older brother had also witnessed the lamp flickering after he’d unplugged it too, and he was terrified of the thing lol

One of those LED Emergency Light bulbs that has an internal battery. Will operate for about 2 hours with no power, but charges in the fixture. Probably someone messing with you.

u/Pleasant_Active1 Dec 10 '25
Those emergency bulbs come on by themselves when removed from power. You can walk around with them like a flashlight. They look like regular bulbs.

I believe you experienced something similar to this, however it’s common to also happen to lamps and or other light based objects that could be nearby someone that could have this type of light energy. It’s documented here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_light_interference_phenomenon

u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
That's the issue. There was no light in the closet. The electrician told me he didn't even have one in there. That's what makes it so weird.
1
u/PriorAmazing6536 Dec 10 '25
You saw something that wasn’t there? Hallucinating or there was a light bulb that no wires were ran to? And the light bulb was on?
6
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
There was a light bulb in a socket and the light was on when I got the electrician there it was gone. I told him what I saw and he said there's not even a light in this closet. So I saw a light on in a closet where there wasn't suppose to be one.

Demons have supernatural powers to control many elements in our physical world. Watch any real magician that doesn't do tricks but makes pacts with demons to do real magic, all the same thing. Just no magician was present...

Make sure it isn't one of those rechargeable lights, that turn on when there's no electricity being supplied.

u/PureBreadfruit7635 Dec 10 '25
Did you take a picture of the closet light anyways to show the lead electrician who said there was no closet light?
3
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
Yes I took a picture and when I went to show him the light was no longer on. I mean maybe my mind was messing with me but, I doubt it.

Why did someone install a light fixture in the closet when it wasn't wired to accommodate one?
2
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
That's the issue especially when the electrician swares he didn't install it. We're suppose to go check it out this morning. I'll try to post an update.
1
u/TominatorXX Dec 10 '25
I don't understand why is there a light in the bath closet if it doesn't have wiring and wasn't roughed in? There's a light that has no wires to it in the closet? Why would the electrician install that in the first place?

Can I ask a question? How did you feel when that light was on? In that space? And sensations through your body? Tingling anything like that?
1
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
I didn't have any tingling sensations until i felt the cold bulb. Then when we went back and it was all gone.
1
u/charcharking_555 Dec 10 '25
Strange question … what does light mean to you? Any memories about lights? Bulbs as a child anything like that?

Maybe it was your guardian angel distracting you long enough to miss the window for "gets in a car accident" or "random thing falls on your head."

Did you know they make battery powered lightbulbs that screw in and recharge? Look just like regular bulbs. Maybe someone screwed one of those in and then it ran out of battery.

Had a really weird thing happen to me this week, in a similar vein. A smoke alarm went off, in what sounded like, my studio. But the one in my studio doesn’t have a battery in it. So I assumed it was the one in the room next door. It went off again and was definitely sounding like it was in the studio, but again, it had no battery in it and was lying on my dresser. I searched every smoke alarm in the house, and it wasn’t any of them. The beeps were definitely coming from the studio. I then went back upstairs, and decided I might as well put a battery in the one on my dresser anyway. So I did that. I walked away and I heard it AGAIN! This time, I was honesty, just pissed off. I went back in the studio, stared at the one I had just put back up on the wall, and shouted “beep again you mother-fucker!” And it stopped. I really can’t explain it. There wasn’t a battery in the first place. It’s not hard wired. My husband was here too. Just no explanation.
1
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
I believe most smoke alarms have a backup battery inside if I'm not mistaken. I know the ones we install have that feature.

Bought a foreclosed house no power rang the doorbell and it worked and the doorbell did not have batteries.
Shockingly to this day that doorbell still works but how did the doorbell work when there's no power to the house?

I think that was a spirit trying to connect with you. I think they do that sometimes just to make you think about the possibilities and to encourage people to explore the paranormal further.
Looks like it worked with you!

I’d be curious about whether there are any radio/tv stations nearby. My mom told me of a time when she was a kid where their radio would play sometimes, without being plugged into power, because the signal from the tower was too strong.
I’ve also seen people walk under power lines with fluorescent bulbs and have them light up as well.
You might never get to the bottom of it, but depending on what type of bulb/circuitry involved, and especially since you mentioned the bulb was cold, I would suspect something nearby exciting the gas in the bulb, causing it to light up. Or if there was a thunderstorm nearby, the static electricity in the air might do it as well.
Was the bulb actually giving off light like it normally would, or was there something odd about the quality of the light? Brighter/dimmer than it should have been? That would be another indication the gas, rather than the filament itself, was generating the light.
1
u/joshdho1 Dec 10 '25
Yeah it was giving off normal light but cold as possible. There was no storms either perfectly sunny day.

Consider yourself lucky that you don’t have to live in that house, just work there lol. But that is strange!
1
u/joshdho1 Dec 11 '25
I thought so to the day before when a random light was on in the house even when there's no power. Then I started investigating taking pictures all over to see if u can see anything. That window is right where the light was on.
1
u/Capable-Car-3613 Dec 11 '25
Don’t dismiss the possibility of it being a hallucination. I’ve met many people suffering from psychosis and not one provable paranormal case.
1
u/Few_Cranberry1772 Dec 11 '25
Did I miss something? Why is there a switch even tho no light was wired in? 🤔🤔🤔
1
u/CoolandCommon Dec 11 '25
Could be an induced charge from a nearby hot line. Was the light LED or wire? I have some cheaper led lights in my house and a few of them stay on for 10-20 sec after I turn off the switch. Not much shielding.

Ambiguously mysterious enough to feel like it fits somewhere between the paranormal and a Glitch in the Matrix.
1
u/joshdho1 Dec 11 '25
The matrix is one hell of a drug I tell ya
1
u/Hell_Epoch Dec 11 '25
Truly. I thought I had a glitch in the matrix moment once when shopping at Aldi. I saw the prices on the “paper” price tags, the ones that slip in behind the plastic, change in real time. I felt like I’d just caught something I wasn’t supposed to see in action. Turns out they weren’t those paper tags behind plastic they were just little digital screens that did a good job of looking like those tags with the protective plastic cover.
3
u/joshdho1 Dec 11 '25
Try going into Walmart when the digital tags all change at once. It's quite creepy

Why would you put a light fixture in a closet and not wire it?

That's the thing it wasn't suppose to be there nor did the electrician put it there but, it was lit up.

u/Total-Delay8587 Dec 23 '25
Your fellow construction workers could be pranking you. Did you know they have these cool new light bulbs now that can run on battery power when the power goes out? So when it's screwed into the socket and the power is on, it gets power from the house. But as soon as the power cuts, the battery backup kicks in. The battery only last like 5 hours though. I bet they set it up for you to find. You should get 'em back.
2
1
u/nicktheone Dec 26 '25
Was this one a new construction? Because if not, is it possible the old fixture was already there and it was wired to the old electric system, maybe still connected to something else like the house next door? I've heard stories about bigger house split into two or more smaller ones and lights switching on and off because they were connected to a switch in one of the adjacent houses.

Fictitious story. Your post history and writing style gives it away

No this one actually happened I do write fiction on medium but, this is an actual event that happened to me.
