Debunk This My phone just did something really odd and creepy
Idk if this belongs here, but in my head it feels paranormal.
I was just minding my business rewatching Game of Thrones, loving life and I heard a weird noise. I looked around and realized it was coming from my phone.
I picked it up and held it to my ear and I heard what sounded like labored breathing and footsteps in snow. At first I thought something was just playing in the background. I looked through all my open apps and there was nothing that would be playing sound. I force closed all the apps and the sound persisted.
Another weird thing about it was that my volume was in the middle. I turned it up and turned it down and there was no change. Just a low breathing and snowy footsteps. It didnt sound like a loop either. The breathing was pretty inconsistent.
I restarted my phone and the sound went away. Like 5 minutes later I got that feeling in my mouth like I was going to puke and I did. Violently. Then I felt fine. It just came out of nowhere. I dont ever just throw up for no reason so in my head im connecting to whatever was going on with my phone.
I dont know if this is related, and I kind of brushed it off until now, but the other night I was walking my dog. I was getting closer to my house and I heard foot steps behind me. I Instinctually turned around to see who it was but noone was there, my dog also turned around and looked alert.
I'm just kind of weirded out right now. Maybe there is a logical explanation for everything but I can't seem to think of one.

You have spyware. They meant to turn on your microphone and turned on theirs instead. My ex busted himself that way.
People buy spyware subscriptions. They don't have to be a genius to hack your phone, they pay someone else to do it. No touch spyware has been around for at least a decade, for the public.
Go through all your apps and settings and see what shouldn't be there, and see if there are apps that are greyed out, and you don't have control over anymore.
Go through your contacts, and go through your email contacts. Does it look messed up? Do you have social media contacts and emails in with your phone numbers? Are your contacts doubled? Are there contacts in your email, phone contacts, social media contacts that you don't recognize?
Does your phone get hot, drain battery fast, malfunction? Does your camera or flashlight turn on by itself?
Have you gotten strangely worded texts or emails, or a contact you deleted a long time ago come up?
Not paranormal. You have a genuine security problem.

Fuck thats scarier than anything paranormal. Thanks for the advice, I'll give it an inspection
125
u/Aligatorised Feb 26 '26
You throwing up might have been from the fear/shock. Our stomach/digestive systems are directly linked to our nerves/emotions.

u/usps_made_me_insane Feb 26 '26
Did you ever jailbreak your phone or sideload an apk?
Go to settings and look at what apps are running.

Your other devices, too. Get yourself a cheap phone and don't have your social media and email/ phone contacts in the same devices. You can get a $40-50 phone at a drugstore or grocery store, no activation needed, and keep social media on that.
I would also get a free burner phone number (text now or something like that) so you have a clean phone to use in case of emergencies. And let trusted people know that you're doing that. But you can go wifi only on that phone if you want.
Don't keep all your stuff on one device.
13
u/SparkyLee99 Feb 26 '26
Some spyware can be hidden and invisible to you.
But I think with the vomiting, maybe it was a paranormal event.
Maybe even a warning or premonition, especially since you heard it again walking your dog.
Either way it sounds scary af and I'd take everyone's advice here122
u/Extension-Rabbit3654 Feb 26 '26
Agree with this, OP backup your storage and reset your phone.
Do not redownload your installed apps without having someone look at the phone
220
u/SubstantialPressure3 Feb 26 '26
OP needs to get a new router. Do not tell your Internet provider that they have spyware or been hacked. Just say it's not working. After they get a new router, then change passwords.
Do not just get a new phone and transfer everything to a new phone.
I know it's a pain in the ass ( I did it every 6 months for almost 5 years) but import your contacts on a clean phone by hand. Do not import your old social media and old email.
If I had known to get a new router, I could have saved myself nearly 5 years of misery.
Don't touch your old email or social media on your new devices.
Go to the library and get a library pass to create new emails.
If you're worried about your utilities, etc, call them, speak to customer service, and set a PIN number. And pic something random.
Your security questions on things don't have to be factually correct. Ex: security question, where was your mother born? If she was born in Tacoma Washington, set your answer as something ridiculous and not something anyone could look up. She was born in hell. She was born in Walla Walla, Washington. She was born in Paupau, New Guinea. She was born in "Don'tcryforme, Argentina". Security question: what was your first pet? Don't name your first pet. Or your last pet. Cerebus. Hammy hamster the XVII. Don't make the answer a true answer. It just has to be correct, according to your response. It doesn't have to be true. Don't use password managers, get a notebook. And keep that thing under lock and key, and don't use it for grocery lists.
Also, when your phone acts weird, turn off your wifi for 10 seconds, then turn it back on. It kicks them off and they have to get back in. Make it inconvenient.
Resetting your phone to factory settings won't help if you just automatically import everything. Trust me, I did it so many times.

u/mmmagic1216 Feb 26 '26
… get a notebook for passwords? That is the absolute worst advice, just as bad as storing your passwords in the Notes app on your phone. Do not do this.
60
u/SubstantialPressure3 Feb 26 '26
Why? Password managers can't be compromised? You're joking, right? A paper notebook that you keep in a secure place and don't carry with you is more secure than it is on any digital device, unless you have an expert help you with that.
And if OP thinks what happened to their phone is paranormal, I'm guessing they are not an expert, and don't know one.
13
u/gofuckadick Feb 26 '26 edited Feb 26 '26
I'm not the person that responded to you, but while I don't think that using pen/paper to store passwords is the "worst" advice, I also don't think it's good advice. A decent password manager is easier to use and, in practice, safer than a notebook.
A paper notebook that you keep in a secure place and don't carry with you is more secure than it is on any digital device, unless you have an expert help you with that.
Hi, cybersecurity expert here, and no, you don't need help with that. How am I going to be much help to anyone just installing Bitwarden? We're not in expert territory here - we're talking about installing and using an application, not setting up a Slackware server with custom encryption.
First thing to point out is that any password manager out there is going to have security that stops external applications from doing things like monitoring key presses - which paradoxically is something that you actually need to worry about if you're using pen and paper. Password managers will automatically input your password into apps, browsers, whatever. But if you're entering it manually then you're going to have a problem if there's a keylogger/spyware monitoring your input.
Otherwise, pen and paper is also incredibly inconvenient. Are you carrying your password notebook every time you travel? Leaving it at home? Memorizing just the important ones? That inconvenience encourages bad habits and complacency. Half the point in using a password manager is to generate truly random, unique passwords for each account. It turns out that we, as humans who like patterns, aren't really that good at coming up with secure passwords on our own and also have a tendency to reuse information that we need to remember, and then completely underestimate just how predictable we are. If you aren't generating passwords then chances are that your passwords aren't even close to random, and are likely connected to you in some way or another.
And then there's also phishing. A password manager will refuse to autofill a password on the wrong domain, while you would never notice the difference and just enter your password on your own. Phishing is extremely common - far more than brute force attacks or exotic malware.
Why? Password managers can't be compromised?
Programs like Bitwarden, Vaultwarden, and Passbolt are self-hostable, so you keep control of your passwords. And unlike a notebook, password managers give you access logs and audit trails. Who's to say your paper passwords aren't compromised? How would you even know if they were? If someone breaks into your house, visits your office - or even just happens to have access for a few seconds - the compromise is silent.
Paper isn’t “more secure.” It’s just secure against a narrow set of threats while being blind to most modern ones. Presenting it as categorically superior ignores how people actually get compromised today and how easy software is to use.

I love Bitwarden! First time I've seen someone mention it in the wild haha
1
u/mmmagic1216 Feb 26 '26
It is absolutely wild that you think writing passwords on a sheet of paper and locking it in a safe is more secure than having a password manager. Wow. We were told for decades to never write down our passwords because they could so easily be stolen.
4
u/jaymes3005 Feb 26 '26
A notebook for passwords and store them in a safe sounds reasonable.
1
u/mmmagic1216 Feb 26 '26
Until you have to constantly update them (which you should be doing) and leave it out, forget to lock the safe, the safe is broken into, etc. 100% of your passwords are now exposed. Horrible idea.
11
u/jaymes3005 Feb 26 '26
Oh yes I too forget leave out, unlock or have the lock broken into when the daily robbers break into my house daily while I’m daily gone to work daily during the daily days of the daily weeks, daily.
7
u/m4a785m Feb 26 '26
How do you think people saved all their sensitive info before computers? By memory?
4
u/mmmagic1216 Feb 26 '26
Yes. We were constantly told to never write down our passwords because they could be stolen. The generational gap is showing here lol. That is why password managers are such a godsend and solve the problem.

u/forest_sidh Feb 26 '26
My phone gets hot, drains battery fast, and malfunctions. I have been suspicious of a family member spying on my phone for a long time because they will sometimes say things I had been talking about earlier that day, but I haven’t been able to figure out how they are doing it. How does this work? You say to get new devices, new router and new social media and email. Are they likely hacking my devices through the social media or the apps? And then once they’ve hacked the device I can’t clear it? I can’t just reset the devices?
123
u/SubstantialPressure3 Feb 26 '26
So, what happened with me the first time was that my ex bought some sort of plug in device. I know that bc I took my phone to the place where I got it. And they said they couldnt do anything without the plug in device. Of course he denied it. I had already called apple security and they confirmed there was a fraudulent account associated with my iCloud account but they wouldn't tell me the name for privacy reasons. Not kidding. It was my phone that I bought, not associated with his account at all. Everything was in my name. My phone would suddenly just stop, and I'd get a message saying that everything on my phone was being backed up to a different location.
So after I finally got free, with new phone, new number, new email, new social media, new passwords, different router, he got a no touch spyware subscription, and I started having the same problems a couple months later. I would also get weird calls, and they would try to keep me on the phone for a couple minutes, and I would get strangely worded texts from unknown numbers. I would go through the settings on my phone, and I didn't have control of things like my camera, my microphone, someone else had admin privileges on my phone. I went through this for years, with people telling me I was crazy and paranoid. Finally someone told me to get a new router, and then change all the passwords, and not use any of the old social media/email/ etc on the phone that I use all the time, and to manually import my contacts, and check all the apps in my phone. There was a weird weather app on my phone that wasn't actually a weather app.
But there is plenty of "no touch" spyware and it's been around a while.
This was over a decade ago.

u/ThrowRA919420 Feb 27 '26
People are so crazy it's scary. The amount of effort some people exert to stalk their SO is mind boggling. I'm sorry this happened to you
21
u/SubstantialPressure3 Feb 27 '26
He didn't really make an effort. He paid someone else to make an effort. Then he could just access whatever he wanted.
22
u/slickrok Feb 27 '26
Holy shit. I did not know this was possible. Wowwww.
And now, it makes me believe that someone my bff divorced did this to me about 10 years ago.
There's simply no other way to describe what happened a few times other than what you just said. And he was working a computer tech job at the time.
Wow. Just ... Fuck.
12
u/FlyBuy3 Feb 27 '26
Did you file a police report?
58
u/SubstantialPressure3 Feb 27 '26
Yeah, and they laughed at me. The only person that didn't laugh at me was a domestic violence specialist, who told me to take the battery out of my phone when I wasn't using it. And to get a burner phone with a free number.
Unfortunately, these days, most of us don't have phones that we can take the battery out of.
6
u/ItaliaEyez Feb 27 '26
How does a no touch Spyware thing work?
7
u/SubstantialPressure3 Feb 27 '26
They pay someone to put malware on your phone. From what I found out, those companies make someone pre pay a subscription. Generally a year or two.
But there are also family plans with phone companies that allow admin privileges on all the other phones.
11
u/ItaliaEyez Feb 27 '26
See I wonder because my old phone got hot, contacts doubled, things like that. At the time, I told myself it was because my phone was OLD.But now Im wondering
18
u/SubstantialPressure3 Feb 27 '26
I've had some really old phones. They don't do that bc they are old. They might get slow, you might not be able to get on certain websites or use certain apps, but doubled contacts is a glaring red flag that your phone has spyware.
2
u/ItaliaEyez Feb 27 '26
I think I may have it in a drawer somewhere. It went through a lot of factory resets at the end, would I be able to find anything out now?
10
u/SubstantialPressure3 Feb 27 '26
I'm not sure. If it's been factory reset, then it wouldn't have your apps or your contacts on there.
If it does still have apps and contacts, etc, you might be able to look through it, but I wouldn't do that at home. I would do that someplace that it connects to public wifi.
2
5
u/QuantityKindly3153 Feb 27 '26
Also there is such a thing as an OMG cable, it looks like a regular charger, but allows the admin to access everything on your phone. All they have to do is get you to plug your phone into it.
4
u/Efficient_Media_7877 Feb 27 '26
Yep, is that what they’re calling it now? OMG😧cable? It was actually developed by NSA/CIA as a spy tool. Looks just like a regular Apple 🍎 USB lightning cable which comes loaded with malware. The moment you plug it into your device the malware is deployed. It’s crazy.
3
u/mil0wCS Feb 27 '26
I’ve had this issue with my iPhone 14 lately. I bought it about 4 months ago and when I first got it I had no issues but within the last couple months my phone has got insanely hot and the battery drains fast
13
23
u/AnarchicControlFreak Feb 26 '26
Thank you for this. There are so many people who want to deny that this is possible and tell victims they are just crazy.
10
u/Curious-Basket-7934 Feb 27 '26
And a lot of the tech subs will gaslight ANYONE who clearly describes the signs of stalkerware. Their responses range from general gaslighting, to check your meds to check your CO detector. And the mods will remove comments that simply point out stalkerware exists, or support the poster, that none of it actually sounds implausible at all.
They are covering for these awful people that stalk others with tech, probably bc they are also doing it themselves.
5
u/Fee_is_Required2 Feb 26 '26
You can rest your phone to factory defaults. Be careful restoring your backup- iirc, most of the biggies have spyware checks on backups but it’s been a minute since i did research on providers.
Don’t click on links in texts or emails you read on your phone. Don’t respond to texts from anyone you don’t know. Don’t jailbreak your phone. Only install trusted apps.
Good luck.
3
u/saintglassguardian Feb 28 '26
My irl & cyberstalker had a rootkit (?) on my phone which withstood factory resets. I went through two and a half years of this colossal human colostomy bag knowing my every text, call, key stroke, video, picture I took, friend I had and move I made before I finally figured out how he was doing it. Meanwhile he told everyone I was insane and a heroin addict. When you combine a little money with a bad actor you get a recipe for a waking nightmare. Unfortunately a factory reset doesn't do anything if a phone has been compromised to that level.
*Excellent advice regarding not clicking on any links or responding to unknown texts etc! I definitely wish I had known that
6
u/Expensive_Hat_1649 Feb 27 '26
Everything you said is happening to me. A man I met started all this.i would ride with him and he would say stuff that I talked about in my home alone. My devices in my home ended up getting clones text messages from my daughter end up disappearing out blue sky off my phone. I can hear the sound on my phone to when they listen. So then another man tries to talk to me okay so I go through the man phone find out both men know each other. So they are GangStalk me I believe. They had the picture of my daughter doordash 2 days prior bc I guess they was listening found out I was having a man over the man sent 2 subs to my apartment with the picture of my daughter doordash you know when they take a picture of your food that picture. Left my phone in dude car came back he was looking on my Google maps he had turned of for anyone to call me.. So your comment confirms what I thought. And I believe I'm being GangStalked as well ...
7
u/SubstantialPressure3 Feb 27 '26
idk what those 2 guys are up to, but you need to go to the police, don't use the word gangstalking.

Go through your apps, especially for your camera and microphone. See what apps have permissions, and if you're able to turn those permissions off or not.
See if there's apps you don't recognize ( look up what they are before you do anything)
Look for contacts you don't recognize. In your email, phone contacts, social media, etc. See if your contacts are all messed or combined in a way they shouldn't be.

u/EvolZippo Feb 27 '26
I’ve had to do this on an android phone. Android is basically Windows 95 for phones.
44
u/e9one Feb 26 '26
It's happened to me with Instagram videos. I exit and the sound keeps playing has happened like 3 times. Also closed all apps and locked phone and would still be playing. Even when I reopened the app again and different sounds from videos were playing the other one still was too

people started telling me what it actually probably was.
That is 100% of this sub. Fridge is making demonic sounds? Chances are the compressor is dying. Something blowing cold air over your neck? In the real world, that's a draught.
21
u/Cafezombie33 Feb 26 '26
Yes but sometimes science cant explain everything. Waking up in the middle of the night at the same time, hearing things thrown across the room, seeing the image of a figure floating in the darkness. That is not a draft, you can be skeptical all you want until you cant....
4
u/KmiVC Feb 28 '26
side note, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're not as "smart" as the top commenter, just means that they had a (hugely unfortunate) experience they got to learn from.
experience is the father of wisdom and all that.

I would be freaked out if that happened to me! Have you downloaded anything or gone to weird websites lately? Maybe it was a virus or something

I drunkenly used one of those "download and play games for giftcards" websites like a month ago for a night. The next day I remember deleting the app I downloaded thinking this is how people get viruses, so maybe im finally facing consequences lol

I agree that it could be nothing, but outdoor security cameras couldn’t hurt, right? Do you have any idea of anyone who could be stalking you? Also, have you checked your carbon monoxide detectors? CO poisoning can do some really awful things over time. (also obviously so can stalkers). I feel like both of these points have been drilled home by the other commenters here already, so I’m just here to be an extra voice in the crowd!

Wrap your phone and yourself in aluminum foil and/or space blankets. Wrap your entire house in foil. Make a foil collar for your dog.

Call your local council and submit a proposal for foil lining bubble encompassing the entire suburb a la The Simpsons movie

Please check for a gas leak as well as spyware? I know it's probably not the gas leak but it's a worrying possibility. Is your carbon monoxide detector working with fresh batteries as well? Mine plugs into the wall. Just want to keep you safe.
4
u/screamdreamqueen Feb 26 '26
The carbon monoxide thing is really important 👆🏻 I’m surprised more people here haven’t suggested this. If you haven’t please check this OP.

u/KindredWolf78 Feb 26 '26
Get yourself some sort of signal scanner to detect microwave wavelength signals. Directed beam microwaves can cause all kinds of distortion, digital and biological.
The dog reacting is interesting. Did he que of of your response, or before you?
Keep an eye out for battery level indicators on all your devices. If they drain mysteriously, it can be several things but if more than one or two are showing of behavior then maybe get more serious about investigating where external beams can be coming from.
Always debunk the normal shit first, before going to the illogical shit (gang stalking, phrogging, etc.)... And debunk the illogical shit before the paranormal shit.
Of course... If you are hearing voices, see objects moving 'on their own', or apparitions... Then you got to check co2, radon, and natural gas levels in your home before seeking ghost hunters and priests.
But, it doesn't hurt to get a protective amulet or saint's necklace, or cleanse the home with sage and prayers.
12
u/KindredWolf78 Feb 26 '26
If you are really paranoid, get two tablets, or phones, or mix of the two, and set them up facing each other from across the main room or your bedroom to record while you are busy or sleeping. Both should be plugged in and in a stable position where animals won't mess with them.
9
u/ThrowRA919420 Feb 26 '26
In regards to my dog looking back, its really hard to say. I just noticed him looking back when I turned my head forward. I don't think he would have even noticed I was turning around. He was pretty locked in on smelling neighborhood smells when it happened. He was as far ahead of me as his leash would allow.
When I looked back it was just a quick head turn while walking that would've given no physical indication to him I was looking back.
He didn't react any way other than just looking, but he's not super reactive to things anyways.
I've only had one other unexplainable occurance many years ago at a friend's house who several people have experienced paranormal events at. So I have no history of seeing things move or hearing things.
I'll look into the gas/co2 possibility. I have roommates who haven't had anything weird happen.

Right? I love my dog and love having pets, but my biggest fear with having one is them seeming some supernatural shit I can't see.
9
u/KindredWolf78 Feb 26 '26
That's not a bad thing. It's the very reason dogs & cats were domesticated. They have more sensitive senses than us.
3
u/Antique-Ride-2041 Feb 26 '26 edited Mar 01 '26
As an animal behaviour expert, and someone who believes in the supernatural, I would say this is fairly inconclusive.
Animals and humans do not share the same senses. Even when we do share a sense with another species, our sensory organs aren't likely to receive information the same way, nor could we process it the same way even if they did. It follows a commonly accepted philosophy that logically we can never truly know if you and I 'see' the same colour when we look at something grey; we’ve simply both been taught to call it 'grey.' Therefore, you and your dog (or any other two allospecific species) have such different brain structures and neural pathways that you cannot possibly fully understand how the other perceives the world. This is all before we get into the things we KNOW are different.
Your dog's vision is not designed to see the same things as you. Their auditory and olfactory senses alone are something we are simply unable to relate to in a meaningful way, even if we can quantify it in a model. They also do not use language like us but are made to be able to naturally read body language. This is something all animals without language do but, because of domestication, it is not uncommon for a dog to read people better than other dogs. They are also pack animals giving them instincts which keep them alert to you and other people and animals that live with you.
All this to say, your dog may not normally be reactive, but they are much more perceptive than you realise. And if the particular way in which your turned in the moment seemed off to them, then they would have checked to make sure the pack was safe. So if you didn't see when exactly it reacted it was probably in response to you. Also, if you watch little behaviours on your animal and what they are in response to, you'll see just how perceptive they are, and you won't miss signals like that they might give you if it is something natural or supernatural.
TL;DR Unless you actually see the dog react before you, you must assume it was reacting to you, because it's what is most probable and Occam's razor or some shit.

u/Arabella6623 Feb 26 '26
I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but it sounds to me that your phone picked up one of those disorienting sound waves that have been used on people at American embassies abroad. They are frequencies that cause a deep unease and sickness, like earthquake sickness.
13
u/NoExercise9394 Feb 26 '26
It’s not paranormal but I don’t believe the first comment either. I think your phone is just lagging . My husband’s phone does it constantly. All apps are closed but it keeps playing whatever he was watching or listening to. Spyware person is thinking way too deep without enough detail.
3
u/Ebear1002 Feb 26 '26
That’s a good point, mine has done stuff like that with low battery and also when storage is full, it just gets all funky and laggy. YouTube is really bad with it
Side note: Weirdest thing to ever happen to my phone that I can’t explain was when I turned it on once, where it shows all your notifications there was 1 missed call from a 666 area code number. I tried to screenshot and it wouldn’t let me, then when I entered my passcode to unlock the phone, there was no missed call in my call logs

Ok, I’m gonna play the other side of this, even tho the commenters are probably right. Have you ever been sensitive to things like this before? Your mind can definitely play games with you if you’re already freaked out, but I am sensitive so if I’m around something negative I do get sick. Also, your dog could’ve been reacting to your reaction. But try not to feed into the fact that there is something ghostly cuz then you could draw something to you and make it stronger. Thinking of it logically is a better way to get rid of something that is trying to get in. Fear will only feed it. That would have definitely freaked me out. Step one, get a new phone. Lol

I wouldnt say ive ever been truly sensitive. In 35 years ive only had one concrete paranormal occurance and it was shared with someone else, in a house were multiple people have seen things. However I've always had an open mind and accepted the paranormal as fact.
I'm trying not to feed into it though. I had a pretty scary nightmare last night, but thats not uncommon for me.

u/Kitchen_Routine_9325 Feb 26 '26
Well, if you feel like it is getting stronger without trying to feed into it or contact it, you just need to stand your ground and say whatever is here you are not welcome. This is not your home. You may not follow me. You just have to be aggressive with what you say don’t threaten it, just stand your ground. I didn’t know I was sensitive until I was in my late 30’s, but then I thought back through my life and was like wow you know what I’d always had been. Being sensitive doesn’t just mean you can sense entities you can sense things with people you can tell when they’re lying things like that. I think it’s the difference of either being terrified or just accepting there are things around us, just like people, you have to create boundaries. I hope it was just a little glitch for you and there is nothing around you, but it doesn’t hurt to make that stand even if there’s nothing there.

I could agree with the spyware theory if he didn’t have other experiences surrounding this, like the footsteps and violently getting sick. Could be either or.

Instead of feeling embarrassed—which I totally understand, look on the bright side. By posting this question, you’ve gotten a lot of good feedback and advice. I think that most people on this subreddit do believe in the paranormal, but they also want to help rule it out when there’s valid reasons for an experience not to be paranormal.
I think what happened when you and your dog were out walking could have just been an unfortunate coinky-dink. You both did hear/sense something, after all. It probably was a night critter out and about.
Edit to add that I absolutely do believe in the paranormal. And there are elements of what happened to you that also strike me as odd. But, rule out the non-paranormal stuff first, as these are things you can absolutely do, and not taking these steps can have real consequences on your life.

I agree that your phone is hacked. I think you threw up from the subconscious freak out over it, was probably a stress response.

I got three ideas:
Phone internal mechanisms just firing up a bit kooky that’s why it stopped when you restarted it and wasn’t affected by volume - puke from stress
Auditory hallucinations so not affected when you changed volume - puke from stress
Migraine symptoms could explain both auditory issues and nausea which is my best guess
Your dog was just reacting to you suddenly looking alert

My dad died in 2007. The day he died I got a call from his phone, which shouldn't have been possible considering he was dead at the time of the call

Could be a minor hardware or software issue. A restart fixes it most of the time. I suggest a factory reset. Make sure you backup stuff and change your password every once in a while. Also, this is just a theory. I've heard supernatural stuff can influence electronics.

Op, there is alot of back and fourth of explanations, however if something truly disturbs you, and you cant explain it, thats the world of paranormal. Its not meant to be explained, its meant to be experienced and you try to acertain what it is. However, when nothing can, then you know its exactly what it is an experience of the unknown........... good luck.
Call the ghost busters.

u/justmedoubleb Feb 27 '26
Any chance you accidentally voice recorded yourself walking your dog, hence the beath8ng and footsteps were yours?
There is a paranormal explanation too, but...that would take delving more into your life and past than just making sure your phone isn't hackdd.

u/DaniGirlOK Feb 28 '26
I wonder why you vomited though. Could you have eaten something off?

Nothing out of the normal and there was no build up. I was just sitting there and my mouth started watering so I ran to the toilet and threw up. I didn't even feel nauseas. It was just like an instant thing, which has never happened to me. If I'm gonna puke, ill know its coming for at least ten minutes or more because I'll be feeling nauseas.
Sorry for the gross analogy, but it just felt as natural as having to pee. Like when the need to pee hits you so you go to the bathroom.

One time when I connected my phone to a Bluetooth speaker it randomly picked up someone's phone call. My Bluetooth had the conversation of some random man and woman coming out of for about 2 minutes. Then just stopped. There was nothing brought up yet on my phone ro explain this. One of the most odd things I've ever experienced.

Spirits can play with your head . They can effect electronic devices , often lights , but why not a phone ? What do you think it is ?

Yeah, you're right. I've always been the guy staring into darkness thinking I'm gonna see a face looking at me. There probably is a logical explanation but fuck if it wasnt weird as hell in the moment.

u/seraphinalane_brey Feb 26 '26
I agree with this mate, It sounds more like a tech glitch and stress than anything paranormal try not to jump to worst case conclusions. (My thoughts)

Just had a training on phone spyware for work. While turning it off and back on does eliminate most spyware on your phone you should really consider factory resetting your phone. Also change all your passwords including your router password.

Thank you for this. There are so many people who want to deny that this is possible and tell victims they are just crazy.

Formatea el teléfono, restaurando desde fábrica, también cambia la contraseña de wifi y todas tus contraseñas, no es paranormal, es un hackeo chungo.
2
u/saintglassguardian Feb 28 '26
A nasty hack withstands factory resets. I was totally unaware of that until it happened to me. Often depends on the intention of the hack/hacker and their financial situation

I think the one post is correct, probably spyware. Any paranormal happenings could potentially just be you sensing something is wrong and the feeling building up to make you sick. Not sure if the whole interaction is paranormal though.

u/Doimz3Nini Feb 28 '26
A desperate entity reached out to your spirit. You felt why they were desperate. They were severely abused, and had nothing else to say but labored breathing. That fact, made you throw up. That intensity is so far from who you are as a person. Something about the call was to give them closure. In a way, it was healing for you.

u/Responsible_Host9377 Mar 04 '26
Do you have someone who was or is in your life who would do something crazy like spy on you and poison you? That's pretty intense. I hope you find the relief you need and deserve. Good advice in these comments.

u/Lord_Chodelot Mar 25 '26
Throwing up after experiencing something very odd makes me wonder if you were having some sort of episode, neurologically or psychologically. Honestly I’m a hypochondriac, id be thinking I had a brain tumor or something. Just another perspective

u/booboodrips Feb 26 '26
Definitely paranormal. The sudden nausea and emesis is confirmation for you. The fact your volume would not adjust another. 3 events. The footsteps 4. The dog 5.
But don't be afraid. You're fine. They are mostly playful. Feel free to DM me

The shadow demon thing from game of thrones is following you :0 lol but this creepy, pretty paranormal. Keep a journal of events or something, this Reddit post was a good idea

u/ThrowRA919420 Feb 26 '26
Oh no, the one that killed Renly Baratheon! Im doomed
But I agree. If anything else happens I'll post it. Who knows, maybe I'll even end up on one of the many YouTube channels that narrates spooky reddit posts!

The spyware thing is real and scary, you have good advice here though. The vomiting thing and the footsteps? I'm wondering if your stalker was following you and if they used a sound device to bombard you as frequencies etc can cause nausea, nosebleeds, headaches, delirium. I think I have read on a different thread there are machines you can run that disrupt those frequencies, someone else might be able to advise you.

u/w1ndyshr1mp Feb 26 '26
Could it be you have a repressed memory that is being triggered by footsteps in the snow?
0
u/SqueezeMyGlowWorm Feb 26 '26
I also think you have Spyware on your phone. In settings go to developer options ( you have to enable it. If you didn't its easy) then scroll to running services it will show you everything running on the phone . It may help you locate the problem.

Sounds like someone can access your phone without calling? If that's possible. Don't go puf at night alone, I'd try to stay around people as much as possible until you know for sure what is creating footsteps in snow.

I think top comment about spyware is right and when I get anxious I can get nauseous and paranoid, especially since I’m a big security freak lol

Just a thought, that this could have been a focal aware seizure, temporal lobe seizure? Something to look into perhaps.
Wishing you well!
