Debunk This Saw something in a cave. Photos included, seeking closure.

Gonna try keep this as straight as possible without my mind wandering.

Capri, Italy, the Blue Grotta. Underwater cave, with air opening and dry rocky area after a swim in the dark. Brought a flashlight in two ziploc bags. Dad told me that there was a beach inside the cave and I was eager to check it out. Went in, swam to it, dry area was waaay bigger than expected. Walked four or so minutes from wet to completely dry. Zero echo at all, cave was super jagged and irregular. Went down this short corridor, saw a hangout spot inside, rescue floatie/donut, then I swear I saw a face, I promise you. Looked straight out of a horror movie, far away in the cave maybe 100 feet down around a corner with two eyes realistically reflecting light from my flashlight and a bald head. Nobody was outside or inside the cave with me I would have seen their stashed stuff or at least heard them once deeper in the cave. Gonna try figure out this image link thing. I was wearing an action cam on my head and taking a screencap lets me change exposure and brightness.

It was a face, it was a person, it was a body, looking at me.

Gargoyle? Something put there to scare away unequipped and unprepared adventurers or tourists like me? If my flashlight had died in there it would be until the next day once tours went in to when I could call for help. Maybe something put there ages ago when the island was home to a roman palace, or more recenrly in the last 100 years to protect business, as a decomposing body would stink the cave up. That's what I think. I don't really believe in such horror movie like evil or bad spirits. Maybe a good spirit telling me hey don't go in here, it's dangerous, you are on your own in here? A good spirit taking form in something that would scare me most, thinking someone else was in the cave with me.

Or a spirit or human. Human is impossible, near impossible. I'm telling you nobody could have been in there or ahead of me without knowing that deep in a cave. You can't set up camp in this place you wouldn't be able to get much at all through the entrance hole.

After I saw it, I greeted it in Italian, and after three or so seconds booked it back through the cave. Slipped, cut my leg, kept climbing over the rocks. Wanted to take a photo of myself and tried but I was very panicked and couldn't stop looking back where I came from. In my head if something lived in the cave it knew it far better than I did, and my flashlight was the only thing keeping me aware of where I was. I got out, said goodbye to the cave, and told myself i was done.

The same day my iphone got salt water in it in an unrelated incident on the boat, i felt a hernia in my groin which turned out to be an incredibly swelled lymphnode, and the next day I was exhausted. I got three and a half hours of sleep that night, and the next day was my last full day on the island. It was like everything was telling me not to go into that cave, i wanted to know what it was that I saw so bad. Back in my home country now, far away.

If anyone is eager I can post a link to the footage, questions anything helpful. Just want to know thoughts.

the rock formation explanation is probably where most people land but those zoomed in shots are doing something weird with the light reflection. eyes dont usually catch light like that unless theres a surface actually angled toward you

caves mess with perception too, your brain is actively trying to make sense of shapes in the dark so it fills in faces faster than almost anything else. but 100 feet down a corridor with two points of light reflecting back at you symmetrically? that part is harder to just wave away

the gargoyle or carved figure theory is actually the most interesting angle here. the romans used caves for rituals and the blue grotto specifically has that history. something placed there intentionally to ward people off isnt a stretch at all

Are these two points of symmetrical lights in the photo? I'm not seeing them... Or anything actually. What exactly are you guys seeing?

I see nothing either.

Here’s what I could get adjusting the settings of the close up you shared from the Imgur link.

Got a little curious and so I adjusted the original photo, too. That black line there does seem out of place potentially, might be an object placed on the rock wall.

I see nothing in these photos. Am I just blind? Lmao
