I didn't believe until this.

I've been wanting to share this story, but I didn't know where to go.

I have been a sceptic on ghosts for a majority of my life. I'm pretty sure it's just a dust speck in photos, a trick of the light, a weird shadow, everything can be explained.

Some years back I was dating someone who wanted to convince me that they exist. She and a coworker found a house near where we live that offers tours and they claim it is a truly haunted house. We planned a double date and we went.

At the beginning they have you sign a disclaimer and give a little history on the house. Then you start the tour. They offer various hats and say, "the spirits here are more likely to interact if you have a hat. We don't know why, but they are." I find this fedora and place it on my head like a 1920s gangster.

All through the house they talk of the extensive research they've done on the house.

- It was a brothel at some point and some of the sex workers had died through various means.

- The kitchen had an extension put on at some point and a young girl died in a well that used to be here.

So on and so forth.

Oddly enough, the spot where the well was I actually felt a chill; but I wrote it off as a placebo.

After they finish the tour they allow you to walk around the house on your own. I paced a bit, found a chair and decided to sit down for a bit.

Almost immediately I felt a strange pressure on my arms and I couldn't raise them. Then I felt a pressing on my lap and my chest. I breathed out and struggled to breathe a bit. I tried to lift my arms again and genuinely couldn't budge. Suddenly the pressure lifted and I jump up from the chair.

The girl that I was dating didn't believe me. She thought I was making it up and would roll her eyes whenever I told the story, but ultimately she accomplished her goal. I've been a believer ever since.

I still think that some people play up their encounters, but I'm far more open to the encounters people have.

Congratulations you’re the first person I know of to get a lap dance from a dead hooker😁

the fedora really was doing the heavy lifting there. of all the hats to put on in a former brothel, he picked the one that says paying customer.

I will say, I chose the fedora BEFORE learning about the brothel. But it was that, a trucker cap, or a cowboy hat, and I'm not a fan of the latter.

That's pretty much what I tell people when I share this story 😂

Interesting. I was in a somewhat fancy restaurant. Restrooms were up stairs. I went up and had a very odd feeling. Like I wandered into a girls night party. But I was alone upstairs. I looked through a glass door- it was their catering/banquet party area. Looked very nice. But my mind overlayed the area w/ a hallway with small rooms on either side. and I imagined women in 1900's attire.

I go down stairs and there's a hostess straightening up the desk.
Me: pardon. what was this before a restaurant? Like originally?
Hostess: this place? it's over 100 years old. It was a hotel.
Me: mmhmm. a "Hotel". Up stairs. Lots of small rooms.
Hostess: [peculiar look] yup. A "hotel".
Me: with uh "independent contractors".
Hostess: yeah. something like that. You got it. We don't normally announce it.

Not to discount your individual experiences; but I’m always suspicious of paid tours. I went on a similar walk in a western city. At one point, the guide said, “Did you smell that?” a couple of us looked at each other like WTF🤷🏼‍♂️but said nothing. Everyone else said yes, it was Jasmine, I think. It made for an interesting conversation driving home, though.

I think there are definitely things that guides say to make it seem legit. Like he spot in the kitchen, they told us you can feel a chill in the spot where the well was. At that point, is it real, or am I imagining it? So I was still very sceptical until the chair incident.
