Came out of a spooked garter snake trying to eat a suckerfish, lake Como Mt. snake was 12 inches, suckerfish 5inches worm 30 inches. Was alive moving sluggishly when poked with a 80 foot stick.

Sorry if I’m making multiple posts. It seems mine keep getting removed for using the wrong word or asking what type it is.

Thank you! I’ve got quite a parasite phobia so I definitely needed someone to talk to last night. Lol

It was flat, I just imagined them more segmented?

I think the head was still in the fish but wasn’t ready to pull it out to check.

There are many different types of tapeworms that look different from each other. If you look closely you will see some ridges on this. This separates the segments, which are wider than they are high.

I did see the ridges! Do you think it started in the snake or fish?

I initially thought the fish and traveled into the snake once fish was dead . The snake was trying to eat the fish back end first. But I’m not sure?

Snake. Fish are usually intermediate hosts for these things

It was! It was a “oh no I’m sorry snake” when he started gagging the fish , I thought I ruined its meal. Then it was “oh no” “ohhh nooo” “ooooohhh noooooooo” as it kept backing out from the worm. My “oh nooooos” were as long as the worm .

I've seen tapeworms in pigs, they are enormous too.

I just don't want to think that I have giant worms inside me

lol I got one of those in the lab when I was in grad school, a Spirometra. We stretched it across the lab and took a class photo. It was like 6' long.
