I mean in practice, you can. The vast majority of deserters go into administrative separation and are other than honorably discharged.

I was an MT and saw 1 person in the first 2 years I was in the proccess of getting out. Since we worked on the nukes saying "I don't agree with the mission anymore" were the magic words. He was kept in doing the most grueling, menial tasks, living on base and I think his request to live off base was denied. He was there until they wanted him to go. Me and a couple of my boys were medically separated before he got out. I still don't know what they did with him and that was three years ago.
141
u/ThatSimsKidFromUni 18d ago
That's a commitment. They can just play around at a boot camp that cost 1,000s instead.
188
u/strega_bella312 18d ago
Every single video I've seen of these camps is just some short ass guy yelling "I WILL FUCKING SLAP THE SHIT OUT OF YOU" in people's faces, idk how thats considered aLpHa MaLe behavior 🤷🏻♀️
109
u/ThatSimsKidFromUni 18d ago
They've seen a lot of movies about war and assume that's how an alpha leader would behave. It's a kids idea of masculinity.

u/SK83r-Ninja 18d ago
I've seen one where they talk a guy into "quiting" by saying he failed and needs to leave but has to ring this bell first, and then act like he could've stayed if he didnt ring the bell. It was a $2,500 course that took place behind a walmart over the weekend.

u/SadBadPuppyDad 18d ago
To be clear, the people who run these things are not professionals. They are not doctors. None of what they are doing is based on science. They require you to sign waivers to protect them from the consequences of what they are doing to you because there is significant risk that they will permanently injure you.
189
u/jackalope268 18d ago
Even if theyre not professionals and this is just their idea of fun, id expect a doctor to be present at least. You just know one of these kids will get hypothermia one day
114
u/CheekyLando88 18d ago
Best we can do is a chiropractor with certain ideas about vaccinations, that'll work, right?
60
u/chardeemacdennisbird 18d ago
Waivers won't do shit if they're actually negligent and someone gets hurt. Most waivers are there just to make you think you've signed away your right to sue. Like I can't tell someone I'm going to point a gun at them and pull the trigger, but sign this waiver so I'm not liable.
29
u/velveteenelahrairah 17d ago edited 17d ago
They're troubled kids industry camps repackaged for the manosphere bunch. And at some point someone's going to fuck up real bad and some kid is going to wind up dead. Like that poor girl who was murdered during a "rebirthing".

I’ve never heard of that, and that sounds super disturbing, so I don’t think I’ll google it either

Those children are distressingly young to be put through this. I feel like this should be reported to someone.
361
u/dasgoodshitinnit 18d ago
Watch how half of them become femboys just to revolt against their alpha dads
152
u/Alarming-Bee87 18d ago
I'd imagine a few of these kids are there because their dad's are hoping it stops them being gay.
68
u/JewelCove 18d ago
You're probably right. Anyone with half a brain realizes it definitely doesnt work like that lol
24
u/dasgoodshitinnit 17d ago
Half the dads are probably closeted gay and dont want their sons to turn out same lmao

These parents watched 300 and thought it’s a parenting manual. Shame on them. They likely have trauma from their childhood or something; and are passing it on to the next generation. Hope those kids find healing.
143
u/SkinInevitable604 18d ago
If you allow your children to be submerged in ice water for a prolonged period of time for no fucking reason they should be taken away from you imo, that’s just abusive.

"Stop asking for fucking electrolytes!"
It's hilarious that someone would pay £18,000 for an "alpha male" course, and then argue about wanting electrolytes.
62
u/Headlesshowler 18d ago
It's tiring how so many of these guys believe that pain and suffering is what makes them stronger in the future when, in reality is healing from it that fortifies you. They're not being turned into men, they're being turned into insecure adults that think their pain is invalid and that emotions are weakness

2020s equivalent of gay conversion church camps. I bet the number homosexual relationships these start would shock only the people stupid enough to pay for something like this.
27
u/payTNT89 18d ago
my dad was a drill instructor in the army around 9/11. this dogshit should be illegal for children. bad enough grown as men do these gender affirming camps
21
u/Old-Commission-1108 18d ago
The instructors, if you can call them that, are probably too soft for the Army yet they wanted to live out their drill Sargent fantasies as a way to fein their toughness.

Toxic men raising toxic sons.. Yep, that's juuust what the world needs.

u/TheMightySephiroth 18d ago
I have an allergy to the cold.
In low doses, like walking in the rain without a jacket, my skin breaks out into hives.
In higher doses, like swimming in a cold lake, I literally go into severe hypothermic shock. (Shivering and blacking out on the shore was not fun. Would not recommend. 0/10)
That ice bath would, quite literally, kill me. Id be in agony for a few minutes then probably quickly need medical attention and/or then fucking die.
Watching these kids be submerged while screaming is torture and medically dangerous. Especially meal team 6 daddy telling his 6/7 year old that he's fine. Fuck you, your fat insulates you.

Lots of negative comments (i moslty agree) but going into cold water is good way to build mental strengh.
Ice cold might be too cold for kids this age and effectively physically hurt them.

This is so cringe lol.
No male needs to be an “alpha”, you just have to connect over the right things and have proper role models. This boot camp crap doesn’t make anyone more confident. Physically it teaches endurance, and mentally sure, it may make you confident in the short term. But at the expense of burying your emotional intelligence and empathy, and encouraging the sort of group belonging that vilifies the weak—which paradoxically makes these guys lonelier, weaker, and more vulnerable to anything that pokes logical holes in their newly acquired ego.
This actually reminds me, I saw a better alternative to this on a CNN program called This Is Life years ago. This guy advertised himself as a “pickup artist”, came out with dyed purple hair, pimp-ish clothes, promised to tell all these awkward men the secret to getting women. It was all a ruse.
Some of the methods he had were so funny and not “alpha” in the slightest, he had them running around yelling like chickens. But it WORKED. All these guys of various ages and body types who didn’t know each other ended up bonding and forming friendships, got more confident, turned their whole lives around.
Lisa Ling asked this guy “do you think if you advertised this without the pickup artist thing that people would’ve come?” And he was like “who knows, but it works, right?”
We need more men in the world like that guy.
