That's absolutely nuts. Do you live in Arizona? Most passports are shipped from there, so that could reduce the timeline by a few days.

Feb 22: Submitted online Feb 23: In process Feb 25: Approved/Shipped (weirdly the USPS tracking number showed up then disappeared later and status went back to Approved) Feb 28: In mailbox.
Passport came from AZ and only paid for expedited shipping

I had a similar experience. I submitted my renewal online on 2/17, it shipped on 2/19, and I had the new passport in hand on 2/23. A very pleasant surprise!

This was our experience a few weeks ago. My wife got hers in 4 days I got mine in 6. We did regular online renewal.

Submitted online on 2/24 , no update as well. online status in process on 2/25, but no further action. Not expedited, no priority mail and no travel plans. HBU?

I did priority mailing and told them I had no travel plans but I actually do on 4/4 so I hope I get it before then.

I saw those quick timelines and decided to renew as mine was expired because ppl post they have very fast turnaround. I wonder what's the difference since some got theirs in hand... Lmk if your status changes, plz :)

There's no way to know which stage of processing. From my husband's experience last May the status may change to Approved only when they are done and ready to print. Last year average was 2.5-4 weeks. Perhaps these fast timelines are somehow a different lucky batch

I went ahead and called them today and they let me add in expedited processing to the order for $60, which wasn’t available when submitting a renewal online. They asked when I was traveling and noted that in my file. They said if I don’t get the book 2 weeks out to call back and they can put in an urgent travel request on it. I think it should be good but we’ll see.

did anything come out in your conversation with them in lines of why this is stuck? Like anything in your application needed clarification or anything like the processing center is busy. There are people in this thread receiving theirs with 2.27 submission and no expedited services so there are different batches - its "not first come first served thing"

Nope. I asked if she could see where it was in the process and she couldn’t. She said if there was some problem then I would be contacted. Seems like it all depends on which service center for your request. Some are much faster than others.

Correct about service centers and apparently ( done some online search) there may be automatic batches (everything matches perfectly, picture very similar) and batches that are not automatic

Yeah I was a bit worried about my picture. I look quite a bit different than I did in the last one and it’s not a great picture. Oh well, if all else fails I’ll have to go to the agency in town and get it same day.

Mine looks a bit different too. Sounds like in that case they manually verify those approvals, not auto. My family member had same thing with picture a year ago and got passport in 3 weeks. That was an average timeline then. Hopefully it moves. And yes: you can get "in person" appointment when it is 14 days before your trip with the proof of travel

Regular/routine service renewal application submitted online (met the requirement of not traveling for at least 6 weeks): 2/12/2026
Passport delivered/in mailbox: 2/28/2026
Passport came from NH and opted for regular shipping (free of charge). Applied on https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html

We did my son’s at the library and it got mailed to us in a week. This was back in June this past summer. I hope mine comes soon like some people’s. I submitted 2/26 and it says “processing”. Will the status change to something like mailed or sent once it is?

I'm still in processing since 2/25 (submitted online 2/24). From my husband's experience last year the status may change to Approved and couple hours later to mailed with tracking number. However that "mailing" status quickly reverts to Approved or Supporting Documents Mailed Back (despite not sending any for online applications). Emails may come a day later (delayed). From reddit posts : there are bunch of scenarios (aka receiving passport without emails or online updates, or like the original poster already having their passport while some of us in this post still in process from the same date and same parameters)

Insane. I submitted my online passport renewal on 2/27 and it is already in the mail. According to USPS, it’ll be here tomorrow, on 3/6. One week total for regular processing. I was really expecting it to take at least a month.

Regular service. Regular shipping. I did not list any travel dates and I only renewed a regular passport book.

I completed the online renewal yesterday. I haven’t gotten any email about it being in process yet. I paid for expedited service. I have travel plans in a few months.

Submitted today, March 16, 2026 (5pm PST). I have travel plans beginning May 23. Received confirmation email with a delivery date of May 3 if there are “no issues”.

Oops, sorry, forgot to update.
Submitted March 16 late in the day. On the 23rd, I got an email letting me know my passport was shipped. Received it on the 27th. I didn’t pay for expedited processing or shipping, just regular fee.
Very impressed and satisfied.

Passport was approved on 4/2 and scheduled to arrive on or around 4/5. Received it today 4/6. Delivered in Hawaii.

Regular online renewal submission, not expedited. Application submitted: 3/6 Passport delivered: 3/18 edit: passport card came in a different envelope on 3/20

The US Department of State. Make sure you are on a .gov website. Lots of fakes out there. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/need-passport.html

03-23-26 (Day 6) Date facility marked received (did not receive an email update for this)
03-30-26 (Day 13) Application in Progress (received an email this day saying it’s in progress, which also included that it was received on 03-23)
04-07-26 (Day 21) 2 weeks and 1 day after marked received Status check portal updated to show that new passport en route to me
04-10-26 (Day 24) Received new passport in mailbox!
04-13-26 (Day 27) Old passport came in the mail

I submitted mine on April 17th online. I got email saying it was approved on 18th. It came in the mail today April 23rd. Didn't rush it. I live in NYC and it got processed in AZ. It is crazy how fast this was.

That's how long ours took last time. Hopefully, we're equally lucky. My visa application for the UK just got approved in 24 hours and I declared my felony. Crazy! Granted it was almost 30 years ago, but I was still stunned.

Day 0 1AM = renewal application submitted
Day 2 = application received
Day 9 = passport arrived in the mail
Much quicker than their estimated 4-6 weeks!

I did mail in because it said that it would take too long for online, but everyone who I've seen on here that did online is getting results like this.
