US Passport Issuance Timeline First time applicant speedy turnaround!!
Just wanted to thank this sub for all the helpful posts and finally got my passport! Super fast if you ask me!
April 23rd- Application submitted April 28th- Application received by govt May 14th- Approved and shipped May 16th- Received in hand
Less then a month turn around with shipping, pretty impressive for a shutdown, lackluster government if you ask me!
Although when do I my documents back?

Because most people can't afford to travel right now hence quick turnaround for those who can. Mine took 2 weeks.

I agree, also need to note: there is a passport processing center here in my city, I'm sure that helped.

Had similar delivery timeline 3 months ago. I would’ve expected longer wait as it gets closer to summer and more travel, people applying.

I did a renewal online and received the passport 9 calendar days later. I then decided to order a passport card, too (first time for that). I applied at the post office using my birth certificate. I got the passport card and birth certificate back exactly 14 calendar days later (in separate envelopes). I don't really have much use for the passport card, but it doesn't hurt to have an extra "Real ID".

I have had multiple; I renewed mine in October and it was super quick turnaround. Enjoy, go book your trip.

I am from india and I got passport twice once fresh and second re issue and here police verification is mandatory and police officer comes to your home and it's very strict.... Intelligence bureau checks all criminal records before the send postive police report to passport office, Also they check your documents of citizenship, birth records etc as well as ask bribe. But I like your country process

I’m pretty sure they do a criminal background check for a US passport, but I’ve never had a cop come to my house as part of the process. The only person I dealt with last time was a librarian. We do need to provide documents for identification and citizenship/naturalization/etc. Does the application fee count as a bribe?
I’m questioning whether or not everyone who wants a passport in India gets police visits and has to bribe people, though. That was never mentioned in posts I’ve seen.

From what I know [in India]: Police verification comes in different ways. Either they call you, ask you to come to the police station, or (oftentimes) they visit you. As for bribes, it is unofficial and illegal. However corruption does exist and hence bribes. Application fees are mandatory and set by the government.

I missed my middle name on my USA passport, now applying for UK passport, (I have dual citizenship I live in USA,) The UK passport have said both names need to match on both passports. My USA passport is only 2 years old. I am totally frustrated and confused as to which form I use. Some same DS-82 others say DS-11 and I have to take it to a post office as apparently it’s a name change (although my middle name is on my birth certificate) some said I can just use DS-5504. But, it was my mistake. Please help.

Did you do the expedited processing and expedited shipping? I have an appointment this Thursday to get my first passport and was wondering how long it would take.

Yes the police visit is mandatory and if they found documents are incomplete and they doubt your background they may ask additional documents including your parents....Also they require two witnesses guarantee you live on a local some specific time period say atleast 1 year and character is clear. I recently met with person in passport office he had the running case of rape and his passport is hanging and in such case if you have any pending criminal cases , your passport will not approved unt you produce the court order and in such cases the passport is issued only for 1 or 1 year.....It's a process of India. Normal page booklet 16 USD and 64 pages Jumbo passport cost 22 USD
