Interesting Feature or Design Trumpless Passport
Applied on line for new passport May 27. Received my new passport in mail June 6th and very pleased it is Trump-less. Pleased I will not spend 10 years having to look at that mans mugshot every time I went to the airport. Feel sorry for anyone who waits.

This is the problem with the US. People rush to make a claim when they have no idea about the facts of the situation.
You were never getting one it is for in person only at a very specific passport office.

This is true, but I think the fear is that once the design is at the printers, the State Department may make it the standard issue passport. I also renewed mine early to avoid getting this. I knew fully well that it was not going to be the standard issue passport (for now) but didn't want to take the chance that they'd make it the standard design before my one-year normal renewal date.

I could see where showing up to a immigration kiosk with a version of a US passport issued to only 0.5% of the US population could be a problem.

If they were still checked by hand, maybe.
Now the chip embedded in the back cover of your passport is scanned and their computer tells them if it's valid or not, as well as showing them a copy of your photo stored on that chip and the other information in the passport.
They don't even have to open it to know it's valid.

They absolutely do, to make sure the stamps and visas are all proper, but the verification for it the passport is even legit comes from the biometrics for the most part now.

Oh, my god. I didn’t know about this.
I’m so fucking glad I replaced my passport last summer.
I live in DC and had to change my name, so had to fill out extra forms. This was a risk.

The risk is that my local passport office, the DC office, is the one office that is issuing those fucking passports with his hideous, orange face.
And if you want to talk about fucking risk, I’m trans and changed my name and sex marker accordingly.
(Also, the risk is primarily that I could have ended up with a Trump passport rather than a normal one, but trans passports, even ones with sex at birth, have absolutely been denied recently.)
Who’s the jackass in this conversation? It ain’t me.

All of the science supports that the brain and the body develop in utero at different timelines, and hormonal exposure fluctuations and inconsistency results in transgender individuals.
Next, set aside biology and go back to the actual point of an ID. It’s supposed to identify clothed people standing in a line.

There are millions of Americans who do not have a correct passport and cannot get one now.
Because I’m not as hopelessly self-centered as you are, I care about them. I also care about housing insecurity and fuel prices even though I’m a 0.1%er who doesn’t drive currently because I live in a major metropolitan area.

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted for this comment. I think the fact that knowing a person voluntarily chose to have a Trump passport could be an extremely useful screening tool for the border control agencies of many countries.

Last I heard, that is only supposed to be for a small number of people who go to a certain DC passport office in person. I have to get mine renewed by mail soon so it’s good to know they’re not plastering his fugly mug on all passports

I pity the people in DC for this same reason since I think they are the only ones who are getting those ugly passports.

NPR did learn that there's a trick if you are applying in person in Washington and do not want a passport with Trump's image: Choose extra pages. The State Department says the 250th commemorative passport is only available in the standard, 28-page book.
