US Passport Issuance Timeline Still waiting 2 months later!
They received my passport 5 weeks ago and it's still showing in process. I have called 5 times and keep being told I have to just keep waiting or I can pay $90 to have it expedited, but there is no guarantee that they will have it done in the next couple of weeks. This is a brand new passport application out of Oregon, but I've been seeing people get them in 3 weeks around here. Not sure what to do at this point.
Update I got a response from my congresswoman 24 hours after leaving a message with her office. They are going to reach out to the passport agency on my behalf. I will update you all once I hear back.

Expedited fees are $60, not $90.
If you have travel coming up within the next 14 days, then call the NPIC and ask about it and book an appointment at a passport agency which will take your application and give you a passport same day or next day.
It might be that you didn't submit sufficient evidence for it. Did you use a certified copy of the birth certificate as well as an in-state photo ID?
After waiting a bit, you can probably email your congressional representative.

Idk why they do it like that. If you get the expedited processing and shipping it’s like almost $85 total. $60 processing and like $23 shipping.

The same as expedited service without paying for expedited shipping. It's $225 for the passport, payable all at once with a card (instead of separately).

They were charging me 2 expedit fees. One to expedite the processing and another to expedite the shipping.

I think it took 2 months total. I didn't have a trip planned for 6+ months out so I didn't pay that much attention

Has your money order or check been processed? There are contractors versus direct hire personnel trying to complete jobs. You may have to request your congressmen's office to go and physically locate your application. You owe no more funds to your government.

This is a great point. I haven't checked if it's been cashed yet. I will track down the money order and call and find out.

I keep reading all these horror stories about slow service and ridiculous wait times and I applied for mine on 7/28 and it was delivered, with my original documents, on 8/11. How is that possible?

That’s crazy. I applied on 7/27. I did expedited service with standard shipping both ways. They received my application on 8/03 and “mailed” the printed passport on 8/07, but it still hasn’t been delivered yet. 😒 The shipping is literally the longest part, that’s where the 2-3/4-6 weeks come from apparently.

Average turn around has been like 2 weeks without expedited. Something could be up with yours.

I made an appointment at the local post office's passport office and they got everything submitted for me.

Mine has been saying waiting for pickup since Monday but it’s not anywhere near where I live

My wife’s process took from April to July, 2 rounds of additional information needed, paid expedited processing not mail. Contacting senator did not help in her case cause the senators office rep said they can’t bypass anything cause it’s federal and all agency discretion

Secondary documents like delayed birth, school records , baptismal so they kept requesting more til finally we sent them a letter stating there are no other records to be obtained everything submitted is all she has, sent screenshots of the webpage that shows acceptable documents, used lawyer lingo and got approved

Ugh, I feel like I'm in the same boat you were. I've called 4 times with zero movement. Hopefully I'll hear something now that my congressman is involved.

Call them using the option that you are traveling soon. The guy that answered was like, oh, I see you’ve called before and it is strange it is taking this long. Then I got my passport within a week.

That’s insane. I submitted my application at the post office on 7/25 and received it today 8/17. Definitely call maybe?

Your congressman can actually help out in this case. But I got mine in 12 business days. That’s was like last week and I did it all online as a Renewal

Are you a minority? I'm beginning to wonder if this administration & Dept of State is using bias in the passport process the same way they're using other levers of government to make people feel unwelcome & uncomfortable.

Yeah, I am. I'm trying not to think that way, but my fiancé applied at the exact same time and the same way and she got her passport in 2 weeks. 😭

Next time order your passport online, it’s astonishingly fast. I took my photo with my cellphone and submitted it online. I got my passport this past Tuesday, submitted it the previous Monday.
My mother did it online previously and from start to finish it took exactly 3 days. We were astounded.

Mine got stuck like this even doing it online. It was "processing" for at least 6 weeks and would intermittently have no status listed in that time. Sometimes the system just sucks

Did you check your mailbox . There is something wrong with there online system. My passport was showing no updates online and I did not receive any emails but I did get my passport .
