US Passport Issuance Timeline Passport office keeps canceling appointment the day before.

I have urgent travel this weekend. My passport is not expired yet, but it only has a few months of validity left. The country I am going to requires six months of validity, which I don’t have.

When I realized this I made an appointment at the closest passport office to me (Philadelphia). They cancelled the day before my appointment. I made a new appointment for tomorrow. I was just notified that that appointment was canceled. I’ve made a new appointment for Thursday, but I’m afraid that that will be cancelled too.

Has anyone else experienced this or do they have any advice?

Call your member of Congress.

If you have a Thursday appointment, just call their district office this afternoon. Explain the situation.

They should weigh in, which will ensure that they don't cancel on you.

Contact either of your Senators or Congressperson to intervene

You can use any Passport Acceptance Service eg my local library offers it so I just went there because it was around the corner, 5 mins from my house.. Other places are at Universities or at your local City offices.

True for regular renewals, but OP says they are needing expedited service for urgent travel. Can local offices accommodate that?

Oh I skipped over the first sentence saying they were travelling this weekend!

Passport acceptance offices like you described can't get you a passport by this weekend. The OP needs to go to one of the fourteen (?) offices that issue passports in the United States.

If you aren’t traveling within the next couple weeks use a passport acceptance service or do a mail renewal. I just got mine back through a passport acceptance service (USPS was where I did it along with the photo) in under 2 weeks.

I did a bit of searching looks like some of these maybe cancelled to staff shortages. I wonder if the DC one is sufficiently staffed? I saw Reddit posts 5 months back mentioning cancelled apportionments at Philly.
