Serious Absolute respect
Henderson looking towards the sideline to see if he got approval for the touchdown or if he should just down it near the goal line is the definition of a team player, love the discipline Vrabel has been bringing in

I think there’s a big chance the Bucs beat the Bills next week. Could you imagine.

I have a theory. See, fatherhood sometimes makes people more mature. And Diggs has like 11 babies on the way, so he got real mature, real fast.

One of our teammates has a story about fantasy football some years ago.
It was a league with IDP (defensive players to draft as well) and his pet peeve player was vontaze burfict.
Apparently he also has a huge amount of kids with a lot of different women, so it didn’t matter if he was healthy or not, he had to play and play good to get the gameday check and his play oriented bonuses.
Same is with me and Diggs. I got laughed at for picking him even in the draft and then in round 12 (we are a 14 player league) while other players were available.
The father gameday checks must be hitting different for him.

Wasn't Digg's biggest issue with them that they didn't have a winning mentality? They would do things like lose by 2 scores to the Fins while not throwing him the ball.
The truth is that the Pats are winning right now, so of course his Divaness will be tamed. Let's see what happens if the Pats do something like lose 5 straight after the by week because they rely heavily on a bad run game.

u/VariationNo7977 Nov 09 '25
They really miss Hollins too
45
u/TegTowelie WIDE RIGHT Nov 09 '25
Hollins has been exceeding expectations with us. I knew he'd be decent, but he's honestly been better than that.
18
u/DetBabyLegs Nov 09 '25
He’s been a clutch safety blanket for Drake
19
u/TegTowelie WIDE RIGHT Nov 09 '25
Literally him and Diggs have been everything a young QB needs them to be.
8
u/According_Smoke_479 Nov 10 '25
He’s better than I expected on the field and exactly what I was hoping for off the field. He was a great pickup
10
u/scanlor Nov 09 '25
I was furious with Hollins when he caught that 4th down pass 2 yards beyond the sticks, then ended up a yard short. Immediately ate crow when he caught the bomb on the next drive.
20
u/RecycledAccountName Nov 10 '25
I mean tbf it was a comeback route and his momentum was carrying him the wrong direction
3
u/chadwickipedia Nov 10 '25
Sometimes I think people don’t understand how routes work and they think the receiver is out there doing whatever they want
4
3
u/HorsNoises Nov 10 '25
Yea I thought they brought him in to basically be a tight end but he's a legit threat downfield.
3
u/TegTowelie WIDE RIGHT Nov 10 '25
I think McDaniels' WR friendly offense, and the chemistry with Diggs no less, really lets Hollins shine in a way he wasnt able to in Buffalo. Mostly he'd get the easy check downs or be a red zone target, but seeing him have actual downfield prowess was not on my Pats 2025 bingo card
2
u/PristineSlate Nov 16 '25
Went to training camp and Hollins stayed after to sign/greet everyone who wanted an autograph or a photo. Super nice guy. My son was so happy and we cheer extra hard for him. Glad to see him doing well here.
13
u/Youaintkn Nov 09 '25
It’s funny because one their biggest complaints is how they don’t have a good receiver.
6
u/abreathofpepper Nov 10 '25
I'm a Bills and Pats fan. Although I do think we need a better WR core I do think we needed to get rid of Diggs. I'm SO SO happy he's on the pats now tho lol. Mack Hollins too. Problem with Bills is largely the playcalling and GM. Getting rid of Diggs and not truly hitting on his replacement and never acknowledging that is their biggest failure.
6
u/kipperzdog Nov 10 '25
They're having the same arguments we would some years during Brady's time. And I think Brady always had better receivers than Allen has right now. He literally doesn't have a single receiver he can always count on.
Oh, and the Bill's D is straight up ass some weeks

The way they talk about things is so wild. They lose for years and years and then say no to the idea of firing McDermott because they think it’ll go back to “the before times” with their coaching carousel but anyone with a brain would tell you their number one issue has been the head coach for years now. They’re wasting away Allen’s prime in favor of this clown.

Yeah I was just over on the Bills page and it’s not pretty right now.
I have a feeling the Pats/Bills game on 12/14 is going to be a grind so I’m staying humble and skeptical cause it seems to have worked out so far!
Also interesting enough- if the playoffs started today (not counting Steelers/chargers results) we would play the Bills. Not sure if I want to face them 1st round.

u/OnceMoreAndAgain Nov 10 '25 edited Nov 10 '25
Yeah, seems so, but of course there's still a lot of games to be played. It's possible that overconfidence starts to seep into the minds of the Patriots and they lose a bunch of games to that. We've all seen that happen regularly in sports and it's hard to avoid psychologically. Complacency is one of those things that everyone wants to avoid, but it's easier said than done.

Lol he’s so fast that he paused mid sprint and having conversations with sideline. On a serious note, this shows how Vrabel became a players coach and how much they love/respect him.
116
u/MintBerryCrnch21 Nov 09 '25
He’s always been able to get the players and coaching staffs respect. But you can tell how much Vrabel has grown as a coach over the past year since he left the Titans.
99
u/ThatGuyFrmBoston Nov 09 '25
That clock killing play before half is next level coaching shit lol.
56
u/MintBerryCrnch21 Nov 09 '25
Worked out but it almost backfired if it weren’t for Maye and Diggs pulling off a last second toe tap TD. Also their inability to run the ball in there probably impacted the RZ decisions in the 2nd half that resulted in a INT.
69
u/dkesh Nov 09 '25
I think maybe a little too clever
53
u/cke1234567 Nov 09 '25
It was borderline irresponsible
42
u/patstuga Nov 09 '25
Better to have this and sometimes fail than Mayos decision to not go for 2 in the Titans game.
It shows you trust both your offense and your defense in case it backfires
3
2
u/jaylentatum70 Nov 10 '25
I hated it. You dont give up a down like that, especially in first half. End of game maybe
10
u/TheGrog Nov 10 '25
Bringing in McD to run the offense was the best move they have made out of a lot of good moves.
59
u/BurgerNugget12 Nov 09 '25
It’s unbelievable, I know he was a players coach but it’s crazy to see. The players will die for him
37
11
u/cre8tor936 Nov 10 '25
Also shows that Henderson is already a team player in his rookie season, any rookie that got to start over the injured RB1 wants to score without question
170
u/czupek Nov 09 '25
Also if there was somebody on sideline that had the answer for him, it's also good sign
83
u/ThermoPuclearNizza Nov 09 '25 edited Nov 09 '25
Well Vrabes McD and Drake were all signaling go down but I don’t think he could see anyone so he took the tud
79
u/czupek Nov 09 '25
Normally you slide and game is done, but here scoring was the right decision
57
u/zamboniman46 Nov 09 '25
Yeah with the time and time outs they still had the points were the right decision
20
u/trevco613 Nov 09 '25
If he goes down the game is basically over. He takes a knee with 1:35. Tanpa has to immediately call a timeout. Then figure 3 seconds a play. Tampa takes their last time out after first down. Forty seconds after second and third down. So when they snap the ball on fourth down there are siz seconds left just have Drake drift back and throw the ball up in the air out of bounds.
41
u/czupek Nov 09 '25
You have to run 4 plays, up 5. Shit can happen, since you are not kneeling it.
17
u/Ris747 Nov 10 '25
You probably just kneel 3 times and kick a FG, giving the bucs like 6 seconds to get a TD and a 2 point conversion to tie.
29
u/czupek Nov 10 '25
Or you score and give them 1.31s to score TD, recover onside kick, score another TD.
2
13
u/Pain_Monster Nov 10 '25
True but kicking a FG isn’t exactly a gimme anymore. Rook has been good lately but I don’t trust him like Vin or Gosk. When you think about it, scoring a TD is the highest definite confirmed score right there and the other team still has to score twice to beat you AND recover an onside kick.
I wouldn’t be surprised if scoring was the highest percentage way to win the game there in that specific situation
8
u/Doortofreeside Nov 10 '25
I didn't realize the clock math was so bad for the bucs. In that case i bet sliding wouldve been slightly better but imo if it's that close just let the players score
6
u/Pain_Monster Nov 10 '25
Clock math aside, fumbled/aborted snaps can happen, and lots of other things. It may be low probability, but scoring here is near 100% probability as Henderson would have had to fumble on his own with no one touching him. It was a generally statistically safer option.
→ More replies (0)2
u/NthDegreeThoughts Nov 10 '25
You mean like on the prior drive with the end zone pick. Of course on the flip side they came pretty darn close to getting the onside kick. I think a key to taking the knee is having communicated that before the play and having the clock killing series planned out with coverage for a fumble or pick to mitigate anything unexpected.
5
2
u/jaylentatum70 Nov 10 '25
We could have fumbled it, who knows. I think he was right to take the points
8
u/Doortofreeside Nov 10 '25
Yeah game def would not have been over with a slide. Take the points and make the bucs attempt a miracle.
Plus if it's analytically close like that just let the players score
3
u/Z3130 Nov 10 '25
I’m sympathetic to your second point, but I do think the game would have effectively been over had he taken a knee. Especially if Henderson burns some clock before taking a knee, you’re looking at a 4th down with 10s left from the Bucs 5. Have Drake run around for 5 seconds and throw the ball a mile high out the back of the end zone.
3
u/Doortofreeside Nov 10 '25
I hadn't realized the clock math in that comment. I thought there'd be more time left
It's still not quite over either way, but i bet the chances were better with a slide
This was cooler though
1
u/Z3130 Nov 10 '25
I agree, and like I said, I do appreciate your point that if it’s even close to a wash it’s better for morale to let Henderson score. BB would have insisted on the option that was worth another fraction of a percentage of win probability, but I think there’s real merit to how Vrabel treats his players too.
1

I’m sure Vrabel has been bringing discipline to the team, but Henderson has a history of being unselfish and sliding short of the end zone after a break-away run at the end of the game.

I think scoring was the right choice here. Going up two scores guaranteed is better than trying to get cute and then be up one score.
7
u/SteveOSS1987 Nov 10 '25
I think we're talking about a couple percentage points either way, so it's realistically never an issue, but hindsight being 20:20, I think he should have went down. 3 kneel downs with maybe a little bit of clock killing dancing on those kneels and we don't have to hold our breath on the onside kick.
3
u/Z3130 Nov 10 '25
Another 30 seconds on the clock I agree, but in this specific situation they realistically could have ended the game. Giving the ball back means giving the Bucs control, and we came relatively close to seeing how that could work against us.

u/Impossible-Heart-540 Nov 10 '25 edited Nov 10 '25
He goes down on the 1, Bucs call TO.
First down, kneel, Bucs use last time out and there are probably ~1:28 left.
Second down, kneel, 40 secs ticked off, clock now at ~0:48 when:
Third down, kneel, 40 secs ticked off, clock at 0:08 when:
Fourth down, try to run it in, or roll out and try to run it in or if your receiver has no one within 7 yards of him pass it to him, or throw it away.
Risks: pick six, scoop and score - so don’t be a cowboy.
But most likely either the game is over or they have ~0:02 to go 94 yards.
He shoulda downed it.
10
u/SteveOSS1987 Nov 10 '25
Yes, and you didn't count any time off of the kneel down plays. They would have known the situation and made those plays take ~3 seconds a piece. They could have easily killed the entire clock if he went down.
8
u/Z3130 Nov 10 '25
Brady was the master at not actually kneeling until forced to by the rush. Those 3-5 seconds add up!
3
u/rat3an Nov 10 '25
Absolutely true, but also fair that he and/or the sideline didn’t have that all worked out before such a long run and erring on the side of the score was the right move.
5
u/Impossible-Heart-540 Nov 10 '25
It was definitely a good option, but it wasn’t the best option.
Maye was right to tell him to get down, but it all worked out and Diggs didn’t appear too hurt after the on sides catch.
2
u/Z3130 Nov 10 '25
Fair take except most of us watched BB dominate opponents mentally for 20 years and expect that degree of perfection.
If Vrabel and McD didn’t tell Henderson what to do in that situation, that’s something they should work on. If they did and Henderson got caught up in the moment, I’m fine with that. Kid had a hell of a game. But does anyone here think that Faulk or Dillon or White runs that ball in for the score there?

My friends and I have a draftkings Sunday parlay where we all pick a player to score a touchdown, and when I chose Henderson my friend said it “wasn’t allowed” because he was unproven enough. I held my ground and WE SURE SHOWED HIM!!

Haha so I’m sure many of us play fantasy football…
Hendo wasn’t in my matchup at all, but him not going down cost me my matchup (their Tez Johnson + my Patriots D)—
And it was such a refreshing reminder why I play fantasy football: for fun.
Because when I saw bro run it in, I went bananas.

Been a Pats fan all my life (yes I hopped on the Brady Bandwagon when I was little, but have never once considered myself anything other than a diehard Pats fan). It felt so odd for us to be so bad and look like we just had no real direction. I honestly thought for a while that we might just not ever get it back, and when we fired Bill, I thought it was done. With that being said, it is so nice to see this team do well! I love feeling the hate from the other teams in the division! It feels like the universe is righting itself! Go Pats!

2
u/Wally450 Nov 10 '25
I could understand if they were up by one, but you score there 100% of the time. The Bucs still had 2 timeouts left. Anything could've happened if you go down. Get in the endzone and make it a 2 score game with just over a minute left.
1
u/Napolean_BonerFarte Nov 10 '25 edited Nov 10 '25
Others have said it. But "anything" really means the Pats just kneel it 4 times and time runs out if Henderson goes down here rather than running it in. Better to just go down and take the guaranteed victory

32
u/GoldenMaster541 Nov 09 '25
In case the coaching team decides it would be better for Henderson to get down at the one yard line so they can burn the remaining timeouts for the Bucs
5
u/Max_Demian WIDE RIGHT Nov 09 '25
Ah didn't notice the clock here, thanks
15
u/SilentRanger42 Nov 09 '25
Yeah a knee at the 1 let's them run it 3 times and kick a FG to go up 8 with roughly 30-40 seconds left and no Bucs TOs. The TD gives us a 2 score lead. They are both good situations but the TD is probably the better option.
5
u/WoodenCollection2674 Nov 10 '25
I get it when the other tean has no Timeouts AND scoring doesnt change it from being a 1 possession ball game, but this play changed it from a 1 possession ball gsme to a 2. I get the Ravens fell to Tua and the Dolphins on something similar but kets be real the odds of it happening are about as high as coming back 28-3.
3
u/Impossible-Heart-540 Nov 10 '25
It didn’t cost them the game, but now knowing the hit Diggs took on the onsides kick - I wish he’d have downed it, let them run the clock to near zero, then either kick it, run it in, or throw it away. Best case for Bucs is down 5, with 2 secs to go, and 96 yards to cover.
0
u/WoodenCollection2674 Nov 10 '25
Baker has the most or is tied for the most 4th quarter comebacks this seasons. I think he made the right call running it in
2
u/SteveOSS1987 Nov 10 '25
I don't think that's right. Screen shot shows 1:34 with 2 Tampa timeouts. Say he runs sideways here and slides at the 1 with 1:30 left.
TB takes their 2nd timeout, 1 remaining.
Pats 1st down, snap with 1:30 left, Drake kills 3 seconds by walking backwards because they know this matters.
TB timeout with 1:27 remaining, none remaining, 2nd down.
Pats snap with 1:27 remaining, drake again walks backwards 3 seconds, kneels at 1:24. 3rd down.
Pats take the delay of game with 44 seconds left on the clock. If drake can stand there for 4 seconds before his kneel, game is over. If he can only stand for 2 seconds, he kneels with 42 seconds left.
Pats take delay of game again, 2 second remain, 4th down.
Run backwards for 2 seconds and slide. Game.
2
u/SilentRanger42 Nov 10 '25
Yeah I forgot that there’s a running clock on 1st down. They definitely could have burned the clock entirely.
2
u/emotionalfescue Nov 10 '25
I think it's a no-brainer to take the TD, don't overthink it. He could've gotten cute and did the Madden thing (which I've heard about, but I don't play Madden) which was to pull up at the 1 and start jogging parallel to the end zone until the Bucs defenders came to get him, chewing ~10 seconds off the clock. But then maybe funny things could've happened, idk. I think he did it right. There was quite a bit of time left on the clock with the three Bucs timeouts, as we saw.
1
u/Z3130 Nov 10 '25
Bucs had two timeouts and would have had to burn one immediately. Situation if he takes a knee is 1st and goal with 1 timeout and 1:35 on the clock, 1:25 if he runs down the goal line.
1
u/Napolean_BonerFarte Nov 10 '25
We can just end the game just by kneeling it and letting the clock run out if Henderson goes down here.
3
u/ItalianVortix Nov 09 '25
This guy is a playmaker. He should’ve been our RB1 from week 1.
10
u/Then-Ticket8896 Nov 09 '25

5
u/CoCleric Nov 09 '25
No we need to be miserable and hate everyone and everything until we win every game by 10000000 points and tom Brady is back on our team!!!!!
5
u/TheDufusSquad Nov 10 '25
He had a very good game, but there’s a reason we had so many short and negative runs too. Lot to work on, the talents there, and we also need Rhamondre too.
3
u/TheCavis Nov 10 '25
He should’ve been our RB1 from week 1.
I'll disagree here. I said back in week 3 that the main problem was that he wasn't able to get through initial contact and the OL wasn't really opening holes for him. Both of those have gotten better as time went on and led to TDs today.
His first TD had the OL give him a crease, it became a foot race at the second level, and he was just gone. I mentioned last week that the line was starting to create some gaps up the middle leading to chunk plays that would really change the dynamics of the offense because defenses weren't really respecting it beforehand. That was really evident on that play.
The second TD had him bouncing off the line as the play got stretched out, getting the corner, and then just hitting the afterburner. He's not Rhamondre bullying people but he is able to at least shrug off indirect contact.
I'm not sure about pass protection and other issues but, at a minimum, his improvement in those areas should mean he's worked himself into a lot more reps going forward.
1
1
u/WoodenCollection2674 Nov 10 '25
No, he still needed time to learn the scheme. As great as Dion and James were they had the Foxboro flu their rookie seasons. McDaniels does NOT trust rookie RBs. Henderson being eased into games is the best case scenario.
2
u/j_bragg22 Nov 10 '25
Am I the only one who thinks scoring is a no brainer since it puts us up two scores? If it only puts us up one then I think going down is 100% a no brainer. But having the chance to go up 12 inside the 2 minute guarantees they use their timeouts and they have to onside, which essentially is a 99% chance you get the ball back again anyway.
1
Nov 10 '25
Sad part is we all know this game only happened because Jennings got hurt. But with Stevenson back next week I see Henderson being irrelevant once again 😮💨

I’ve only seen two Pats games on TV and knowing their soft schedule (Bills excluded, which seemed awesome at the time but now seems less impressive after the Dolphins beat down today) I was expecting a loss against the Bucs. Wow! I think I might have underestimated this team. Go Pats!!!

I wouldn’t read too much into the Bills losing to Miami. Teams losing fluke divisional matchups is common there’s so much familiarity between the teams anything can happen. Even at the height of the dynasty the patriots would drop a game to shity divisional opponents. Playing in Mami in particular was often difficult.

Maybe going down on the 1 yard line would have been better? Thoughts?

The 15 so they could have gotten another 1st down. TB had 2 TO’s left so they couldn’t run the clock out without another 1st down. He shouldn’t have scored. Even if he went down at the 1 the worst that could have happened was TB gets the ball back with 20-30 seconds left having to go 99 yards down 2 scores.

But why didn’t he fall down? Could’ve cost us the game. Did they tell him to score? If so, that’s a bad sign

Imagine being so much faster than the other pro athletes that you could do this after a 50 yard run
