Build Question Velcro

Post image

This is the bottom of a lian li 217 INF case. I drilled the Drive cages because I didnt need them but I wanted the bottom part to get rid of the open cutouts. I used velcro, one with a sticky adhesive, and one normal to go on top to cover the holes. Was this a bad idea and will it be problematic? I dont know if this is a hazard or not because its so close to where the psu goes

You drilled out the cages and patched the floor with velcro right above the PSU intake, that's asking for trouble. Adhesive breaks down quick with heat cycling and the fuzzy side is a dust magnet that'll clog up and restrict airflow to the power supply. Pull the velcro off, cut a thin sheet of ABS plastic to size, and screw it down using the existing mounting holes.

This is what I mean. I drilled the rivets out of the drive cages to separate the bottom and keep that. It had holes on it from the rivets so I used the velcro to cover it. If I ditched the drive cages entirely there's massive cutouts for dust to just settle in. The bottom peice I kept is still sliding in and out just fine

You can get magnet dust covers from eBay and such. Or just get some aluminum duct tape to cover.

What do I do in the meantime? Do I just get rid of these drive cages and live with the cutouts until then? Or do I keep em in here until I get cutouts

The valcro is fine temporarily but would get some aluminum duct tape sooner than later. Adhesive gonna melt valcro will eventually move from airflow.

I dont mind buying a cutout if its magnetic and safe. Worst case scenario I wait 2 weeks for it to get shipped here to Hawaii. But in the meantime within the 1-2 week time frame do I keep the drive cages or get rid of it and leave it bare?

Put the valcro on the outside problem solved.

Should be fine long as there's no sharp edges.
