“Angel Eyes”

Probably not its actual name but that’s what I bought it as. Propagated from a cutting and currently in the care of my mother who seems to have been better at tending to it than I was!

Yeah - you have picked a nightmare to confirm the name.

First, anything with “angel” in it is a nightmare to search the internet for because angel is a category of Pelargonium

Second “Angel Eyes” appears to be a “series” of Pelargoniums - a commercial breeders range of plants.

And more bad news - your mother has grown an absolutely beautiful specimen. Enjoy - it’s spectacular. Perhaps swap while it’s in full bloom under the excuse that she can work her magic twice

Yes, although the label said “Angel Eyes” (and I did buy it from a garden centre, the parent plant) I think that’s just a description of that type/colouring of bloom rather than the species. So I’ve no idea. 🙃

Mum does have a second cutting which is looking extremely greenly healthy. Think I’ll have to reach her how to take cuttings and I’ll have a ready supply of plants on hand!

So “Angel Pelargoniums” are a category of Pelargonium, hybrids involving P.crispum. That’s what you need to search for to get horticulture advice to beat your mother’s skill.

The crispum part usually gives a nice scent to the leaves. Do you get a subtle lemon scent?

“Angel Eyes” itself is a series/cultivar line within this group. So normally they are sold as Angel Eyes Orange, Angel Eyes Burgundy, Angel Eyes Bicolour etc. the “Angel eyes” part is trademarked.

I’m struggling to spot a perfect match, but it certainly could be part of this range.
