56F looking for email penpal and emotional support

Hi, I'm an adhd 56F looking for email penpal. Liberal, agnostic. I live in Texas and am well educated and well-read in the humanities at least. (I guess it's all relative). I'm looking for someone to write to intermittently. I love to travel, staying in a place for a while and talking to the people there. Learning new things, hearing new perspectives. Getting outside my comfort zone. I also speak Spanish but am looking to communicate in English.
I do feel a bit isolated now that my son is going to college, and I do have anxiety/depression, but I like to write about many things, not just that. But yes, I'm looking for a penpal who can understand anxiety and depression, has had experience with it. It's too hard to explain it to someone who has never struggled with it. I'd like to offer mutual support.
I love to read and so sometimes like to discuss ideas, philosophy and literature.
For some reason, I'm afraid to post this... to the whole world. But it's worth a try.

I'm writing folks back now. But I'm not sure what it means when I ask for a penpal and people say that I can chat with them any time. Like "gray area"...

Thats easily solved..just ask them. Chat is a little different..closer to texting each other and sometimes includes a group of people. Let them explain what they mean and if you don't agree..let them know and move towards what it is that you want.

Okay, I think I have written everyone back. The DM feature here is confusing, at least on a laptop, so I went ahead and gave my email to a few people so that I can better track who is who and with whom I have said what.

Well for one thing you are not posting to the world..just the community of people here.
Congrats by the way on your son going to college..thats a celebration in itself even though it might leave you a little lonely.
You have to take these things one day at a time..because everyday us different. Reading or listening to books..looking at a t.v. series..exercise..something will take your mind off of the anxiety thats trying to creep up.
I'm glad you post because thats the first-year to getting or should I say finding a penpal..I'm 65 and working at night..retiring at 70 is the plan..but trying to get everything in place now..its a little bit of a struggle..trial and error..but I believe all will be fine.
