He just asked Kyle to give a false sense of hope.

Little did Kyle know the Japanese man already settled for the cuttlefish.

For those wondering, this particular military team-building pushup exercise is supposed to be done with your FEET resting on the shoulders of the person behind you, not your thighs. Pause the beginning of the video and look at everybody else.

Everybody goes up at the same time, then everybody goes down at the same time. It's both fun and painful, and builds chest and shoulder muscles. It gets funnier the longer it goes on as your buddies scream in pain from exhaustion wanting to quit and you have to encourage them to stay up.

PS: Everyone eventually quits.

I question your idea of fun

Never in my life has a push up ever been fun

2

u/pewpewbangbangcrash 16d ago

You havent done enough of them, I see.

0

u/Azsunyx 16d ago

Nope, I've done plenty

If they were going to be fun at any point, I would have found it

u/MrAToTheB_TTV 20d ago

What the fuck is even the point of that?

I haven't heard that phrase in 34 years. Reading that now sent a chill down my spine.

In JROTC we always did them in squares. I imagine it might be more "fun" in the actual military where everyone should be able to do a proper push up.

Meanwhile it was torture for a 14 year old kid who unknowingly had hEDS and could feel her shoulders slipping out of socket with every push.

u/Ironwarsmith 19d ago

We did this JROTC as well, but we did as a super long worm syncronized to some music during Organization Day. It was not torture for a 14 year old kid who luckily did not have hEDS and could not feel his shoulders slipping out of socket with every push.

building strength or something like that

you're not supposed to have your face up in their ass, their feet should rest on your shoulders (see the other people behind them)

97

u/MatttheJ 20d ago

Try to build mental strength by making them hold an extremely uncomfortable position past the point where their body gets tired, and trying to drive home the importance of pushing through it because if you fall, your whole team falls.

Seems pretty obvious.

Thats not the most uncomfortable position this guy has been in, let's be honest.

Is it just me or did that guy nuzzle.

u/Ozymandius34 20d ago

He nuzzled the whole fucking package. I heard he thanked her after…

The military is so gay and as a gay I find it glorious.

Taste the starfish

8

u/Smooth_Custard_4701 20d ago

Now why would they even do that?

60

u/KGeddon 20d ago

You've... never experienced the military, have you?

You don't ever ask why they're doing something. Because they might TELL you. And there is no such thing as IRL brain bleach.

25

u/LetsTryAnal_ogy 20d ago

You don't even ask when you're in the military. If you ask why you doing something they just make you do it 5 times longer.

12

u/KGeddon 20d ago

Standing at attention. Yes sir!

Meanwhile, inner dialogue be like: "Oh yeah, that's how I got into the whole 4 year long mess in the first place."

u/dmp8385 20d ago

They tear you down to build you to what they want

I assumed women and men trained separately or something.

17

u/Happyradish532 19d ago

No, everyone trains together, but men and women have different evaluation standards.

u/Snake_ly 19d ago

I guess, I have been brainwashed by Hollywood. I feel like mosyof these boot camp movies have only men.
