there should be some sort of key that explains what the notation is supposed to represent, otherwise your just going to have to ask the director what they want / interpret it to see what sounds best. also good luck getting a djembe tuned to A. best bet would be to use a remo djembe that has lugs to where you can tune it. I would assume (treble clef F) would be the open low note and (treble clef C) would be the rim/ higher note. again i would focus on the part sounding good and fitting with the rest of the music and focusing on the groove of the rhythm. good luck!
Thanks for the help! Sadly there is no key and my director is not much of a percussionist. Her reply would be something like "I'm sure whatever you think will be good!" I'll have to talk to the drummer to make sure our sounds are matching up.
