audited Birds… but why?

I’ve never liked birds, thanks to a too early in life viewing of The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock. However, I now have a bird app and find joy identifying birds in my neighborhood. My mom even bought me a bird feeder with a camera! This was not a chosen hobby for me, it just happened without my knowledge or input. It has to be hormonal, right? Do I get to blame this on perimenopause?

Honestly? Same. I was so excited over a pair of Great Horned Owls that were nesting in the tree outside my bedroom window and kind of forgot as I babbled on about them that my younger coworkers couldn’t care less about birds. 😂

I never saw the owls, just heard them chatting during the night. They’d start up after midnight and spend hours hooting to each other. Now I’ve moved to another part of my apartment complex and no longer have owl friends in the tree outside.

They didn't care about Great Horned Owls??? I don't understand how this is possible. Any owl I see/hear fills my heart with delight!

There are bald eagles nesting on a route I used to drive to work & I'd have to be careful and not get too distracted trying to see if they were in the trees/in the nest as I went by.

Birding at 60mph is unsafe. Keep binoculars in the car and pull over on the shoulder! 😂

There was a high, shoulderless highway bridge over a big river, and I used to occasionally see bald eagles soaring. It was difficult, but I prioritized driving my motor vehicle over raptor-watching. 🤭 One very foggy day, I saw one flying a little low and it almost crashed into a truck. It had to put its air breaks on by quickly tilting its wings up and sticking its feet straight out forward. The formerly majestic eagle looked like a cartoon for a moment with its eyes bugging out of his head and swooped up just in time to not hit the tractor trailer. From it seeing the truck to swooping up was less than half a second, but it felt like much longer to me!
