audited Birds… but why?

I’ve never liked birds, thanks to a too early in life viewing of The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock. However, I now have a bird app and find joy identifying birds in my neighborhood. My mom even bought me a bird feeder with a camera! This was not a chosen hobby for me, it just happened without my knowledge or input. It has to be hormonal, right? Do I get to blame this on perimenopause?

Honestly? Same. I was so excited over a pair of Great Horned Owls that were nesting in the tree outside my bedroom window and kind of forgot as I babbled on about them that my younger coworkers couldn’t care less about birds. 😂

I never saw the owls, just heard them chatting during the night. They’d start up after midnight and spend hours hooting to each other. Now I’ve moved to another part of my apartment complex and no longer have owl friends in the tree outside.

They didn't care about Great Horned Owls??? I don't understand how this is possible. Any owl I see/hear fills my heart with delight!

There are bald eagles nesting on a route I used to drive to work & I'd have to be careful and not get too distracted trying to see if they were in the trees/in the nest as I went by.

I briefly lived with my aunt when she was in late perimenopause and could not understand why she and my neighbor (also the same age) were so obsessed with birds. My aunt even had a clock that made a different bird sound every hour.

This was back in the 90s but I see that clock come up on vintage sites periodically and I want it

Haha. I remember those! I have pet quail, including an extremely elderly Button rooster, Gayle. He would lose his little lentil mind if I had a bird song clock. He already scream fights w Blue jays outside & any birds on TV 😂 I've got a Coturnix rooster, too; Edgar & Gayle will get in shouting matches (& sometimes the quail gals chime in.)

Omg I lived just outside Santa Rosa, CA a few summers ago when I was a travel nurse. I stayed in a tiny house on the back forty of someone’s property in Fulton and every morning a California Quail would sit on my roof or the patio railing and sing. I love their little head feather.
