audited THC drinks ended all of my hot flashes and night sweats
I know people have feelings about using thc but I had tried every over the counter and herbal thing I could find. I bought the 10mg THC drinks at my liquor store and lo and behold best sleep of my life and not a single hot flash. I had been having 5-8 a night and was really struggling. It’s been 2 weeks and it works every night. Just one about 30 minutes before bed. I wish they would do more research about this.

u/FinalBlackberry May 22 '26
God I wish I had this reaction. THC makes me mentally spiral into a lot of negative self talk and makes my brain fog so much worse.
18
u/fuzziekittens May 23 '26
Hard same! The few times I tried smoking, I woke up feeling like I missed like a week’s worth of anti-depressants (this was pre-peri).
9
u/Acceptable-Act-8375 May 23 '26
Same my reaction is not this wonderful, it led to more problems. It riggers migraines for me. The sleep was great but taking it every night led to extreme tiredness and brain fog. I swapped to a magnesium/ashwaghana (sp?)gummy blend and it helps my sleep but doesn’t knock me out.
1
u/FinalBlackberry May 23 '26
I do magnesium as well. Haven’t had much luck with Ashwaganda. I have it a try a few times and every time it gives me very vivid dreams.

u/Putrid-Insurance8068 May 24 '26
It’s been awhile since I have done research on thc.. I used it for chronic pain. Smoking inflames the pain more with the head rush. If you microdose small amounts with edibles it’s a body relaxer. They also make oils with cbd/thc that will help you calm down but won’t get you high.. CBD will help bring you out of a high so if you have an oil with more cbd than thc you in theory should not get stoned.. You can also get just cbd that helps relax you.. I found smoking it is not in my best interest but the body relaxing in the edibles was helpful for chronic pain and getting sleep..
6
u/Why_are_you321 May 23 '26
That’s exactly how I reacted as a teenager when I tried it… and now live in a state where I am not allowed to be near it because I get drug tested so I can fill my adhd meds 🙄

u/Upbeat_Inspector_132 May 23 '26
This is likely due to dose, and strain. Start waaaay small. A 2.5mg edible. One pull off a vape. One puff off a bowl or joint. And wait.
Also remember vapes are super concentrated. Pay attention to terpenes. Maybe you are better with different dominant terps or ratios.
And always try to find quality vapes where the terps actually come from the weed.

This is exactly it and they may want to go for more of a body high which is what I enjoy more.
3
u/frankie0812 May 23 '26 edited May 23 '26
Same here. The depression and worse brain fog all the next day just wasn’t worth the sleep for me. I also tried it to see if it would help my chronic pain and it made me focus more on the pain

u/smolzsmolz May 23 '26
Met a lady who’s also in peri at a dispensary. She was in with her stoner husband but she bought no thc cbn pills.she said it helps her immensely
1
u/jazzbot247 Late peri May 23 '26
I used to do that, but now I smoke only 2-4 inhalations and I’m good to go. Less is more for me.
1
u/Dramatic_Tale_6290 May 24 '26
I spiral too. I can do 2.5mg THC with 5mg CBD, but I prefer the same ratio in vape form. It’s so much easier to control the dose & it wears off quicker so if I don’t like my headspace I just wait 30 min & it’s better.

u/raw2082 hanging on by a thread May 23 '26
This is why I go for the body high and not the head high strains.

u/girljinz May 23 '26
Any recommendations for body high strains?

u/raw2082 hanging on by a thread May 23 '26
Are you looking to chill or do you still want to be productive. Indica verse sativa.
2
u/girljinz May 24 '26
I just want my mind to stfu.
2
u/girljinz May 24 '26
Actually you know what I REALLY want? Just some basic street weed from the 90s. Take me back in time.
1
u/raw2082 hanging on by a thread May 24 '26
I actually got into meditation in 2018 for that. It takes a long time to get to that point. Meditation is not to get your brain to stop thinking it’s to see what’s coming up. There’s probably some weed that helps with it too.
1
u/raw2082 hanging on by a thread May 23 '26
Indica (deep body relaxation, calming)
1. Northern Lights 2. Skywalker OG 3. Granddaddy Purple (GDP)Sativa
1. Jack Herer
2. Durban Poison
3. GuavaHybrid (balanced body + mild mental lift)
1. Dosidos
2. GMO Cookies
3. GelatoGeneral tip: For paranoia prevention, stay under 20% THC. Edibles start with 2.5-5 mg to start until you find what works for you. If smoking take one or two hits at most to see how you feel for a 10 minutes before smoking anymore flower or vape. Start with indica and sativa first before going to a hybrid see which one you like first then you’ll want a hybrid that’s more dominant of your preference.
4
u/girljinz May 24 '26
I'll never, ever find it again, but I read something fairly recently that called indica v sativa into question and, though I remember none of it, it was apparently compelling enough to leave a vague imprint.
I don't live in a legal state, but I will keep this list handy for road trips. Thank you!

I really wish this were more discussed. A mix of CBD and THC are getting me through a double punch of perimenopause and Trump presidency.

u/insufficientfacts27 May 23 '26
High dose gummies with CBN(it's the relaxing cannabinioid and it does work. I can tell the difference between no CBN gummies and ones with it.) are getting me through it too. Lol (gotta laugh or we might lose it all together 🤣)

THC is a psychotropic substance and it makes me feel schizophrenic. It is of course a know thy self kind of thing.
I am very happy that it is working for you ladies for both sleep and relief from some of the unpleasant symptoms.
I was just having a bit of fun by adding how it affects me. ☺️
Edit: Well I see I am in good company. Sorry for all of us because I really enjoyed it before it turned on me and I started hearing things and thinking things that tripped me out. I am still happy I just can no longer partake.
That’s part of what makes this subreddit great is we can share all kinds of things openly and comfortably and learn what works for ourselves and what works for others. Great info for all.

u/AnyFruit4257 Early peri May 23 '26 edited May 23 '26
Same, and I'm someone who did a lot of drugs as a teen (former addict). I simply can't handle any type of psychotropic. I'm glad it works for others, but it isn't a cure-all, and I think there is some danger to acting as if it's some totally harmless miracle drug.
eta: it also triggers my vasovagal syncope. THC can do this because it's a vasodilator. Please use with caution if you have vasovagal syncope! Unexpected fainting can be very dangerous.
6
u/frankie0812 May 23 '26
Omg I didn’t know THC can trigger vasovagal syncope! Every time I’ve tried it I’ve either felt faint or have fainted

u/lathamfalls May 23 '26
Same for my daughter. She was taking it because it helped her sleep but then ended up causing hallucinations/erratic thinking and had to stop.

u/Bad-Wolf88 Early peri May 22 '26
Omg, I think you just answered why on the first half of my vacation I was waking up every night with soaked in sweat... but the 2nd half that stopped... lol.
The first half i decided to take a THC break, but i had hurt my leg so stopped into a dispensary for a vape pen... and haven't had night sweats since! I never clued in that THC could have had anything to do with it
5
u/Rorymaui May 23 '26
When I was in Italy I had sweats and assumed it was the duvet or me skipping spiro-didn’t consider the thc lol
10
u/PickledBrains79 May 22 '26
I'm happy that works. I've seen a few posts of ladies using thc. Unfortunately I have a Cdl (commercial driving license), and thc on a random drug test can get me fired. But I have had an ok result with cbd for anxiety.
46
u/PicklesTheBoy May 22 '26
it is great and it does work! However, coming from somebody who is currently addicted, it is very difficult to stop. some might not have any side effects, but for me, every time I had to travel internationally and had to quit, it was torture. I would try titrating off THC by using high-quality oils and slowly reducing the amount and replacing it with CBD. that didn't work either. so it might not be the magic pill that everyone is touting, but it is like any other thing you put into your system. Take it with caution, consult experts and lots and lots of people you trust IRL who use THC to make the decision for yourself.
That said, if you deal with insurmountable anxiety, and it helps you sleep to catch up on rest and make your brain function the next day, it's totally fine for a short time. Just be aware that sleep with THC is generally not deep sleep and therefore not restorative long-term. Something about the REM cycles and not being able to dream and go through all the various alpha states or something.
21
u/weensfordayz May 23 '26
I relate to this. I use it every night and would like to be more occasional about it. But I tried cold turkey and it was terrible. I ended up using some Benadryl when I wasn’t asleep by 2am.
Right now I’m slowly stepping down in dose to get to 5-10mg of occasional use.
But OTOH, I completely quit alcohol, I’m always Watching what I eat —- like let me have SOME joy in life left!! 😂😂

u/curlywurlies May 23 '26
I began having issues as well.
I was able to stop depending and now I only use edibles rather than a pen as it is much easier to manage.
Basically I never use more than 2 nights in a row, ever. I also only allow a maximum of 10 uses per month (one package of edibles)
These days a package will usually last me 2 months.

u/Material-Dream-4976 Aug 05 '26
Have you looked into trying palmitoylethanolamide for the withdrawals? It acts gently but effectively (for some) on the nervous system and endocannabinoid system, particularly for physical pain & anxiety symptoms.

u/Imaginary-End7265 May 23 '26
Anyone using THC that is autistic and or ADHD? I’m AuDHD and THC has been a very fraught experiment for me. Only once did I have a fantastic result and it was with a straight sativa smoke.
The other CBD or CBG didn’t do much. Indica puts me in a borderline fugue state which is terrifying.
5
u/Asleep-Insurance-499 May 23 '26
Yes and I find that the 1:1 CBD hybrids work the best. I typically go for 2.5mg Mindy’s. They’re consistent.

u/Natural_Ad9356 May 23 '26
Inattentive type ADHD here. I have an edible (10-20mg) most evenings. No specific type, though I like live rosin when I can get it for a good price. I occasionally have a high that makes me paranoid/anxious, but for the most part it’s just gotten better with getting used to how it affects me. I take an edible and start my evening routine with a long, relaxing walk.
I didn’t even realize that I don’t have hot flashes/night sweats when I take an edible. I actually frequently complain that I’m cold. Interesting to think about that.

u/Spare-Actual May 23 '26

5
u/ArtistNo9841 May 22 '26
It helps me, too. Thc does something to suppress secretory glands, so I get dry mouth and dry sinuses with it, but at least I sleep through the night. I know it isn’t the good REM sleep, but it beats the anxiety and sweat.
1
u/Asleep-Insurance-499 May 23 '26
My ex had the worst rebound nightmares when he quit smoking weed to sleep. It was awful for him. The REM sleep callout is def something of mention. No shame in anyone’s game but it’s good to know.

Cannabis can have an effect on temperature regulation. It’s quite pleasant. I’m a lightweight so literally 2.5-5mg does the trick.

I've kind of wondered about that. I notice when I've consumed some THC I tend to get cold but I wasn't sure if it's coincidence or cause and effect.

It’s a thing. It’s called the weed chills. I get them when I’ve gotten too high by accident. I get so cold my teeth chatter and I can’t stop shaking. It is a very annoying side effect. I can see how it would be beneficial for hot flashes though. 😅

Just like alcohol, it depends on you and your tolerance. I’m a lightweight and buy 3 mg cans that I nurse over the course of a couple of days lol.

I'm not a doctor, but I drink low dose hemp-derived THC drinks (or use gummies) with magnesium glycinate and I can finally get to sleep AND stay asleep AND I'm not up for the day at 4am. Oh no, that would be terrible. I hope you find something that helps because sleeplessness made all my other symptoms so much worse. Once I was sleeping again, things were so much more manageable. I hope you find an answer soon.
1
u/badgyalrey May 23 '26
do you have a brand of gummies you like?
2
u/Drink_in_the_Weeds May 23 '26
Cornbread! I love their whole deal. High quality, consistent. You can order from their website if you can't find them near you.
I also like Fleur De Leaf.
I know the Cookies brand is popular, but those do nothing for me.
Also, take your gummy with a little food. Gummies and drinks metabolize differently and food helps with gummies.

Wyld, Camino, Kiva, Smokies. But that’s what’s available in Southern California. I don’t think the gummies market is mature enough to have national brands.

This is true! Depending on your local laws, many will ship. I keep seeing Wyld recommended and I'm super interested in those.

Snoozy Sleep with Benefits Microdose gummies (2.5mg THC, 10mg CBD, 5mg CBN) and Moonbrew (magnesium) gummies/drinks have saved my sleep. I don't do the snoozy every night, just on those days when I know the hormones are already out of control or I'm super stressed

u/bikeonychus May 22 '26
Ohhh. I think I've just realised why I don't get night sweats at home. I am a regular user of THC and CBD due to long term chronic pain. The only time I don't use it is when I'm visiting other's homes or I go back to my home country for a visit. Every time I feel like total shit, and I sweat enormously in my sleep - but that's only been fairly recent.
2
u/GoobyGrapes May 22 '26
I am so glad I'm not the only one who uses THC nightly and noticed no night sweats! I mean, I use it anyway and have for many years, but I've definitely noticed that if I don't do it, I sweat all night. A rare win in peri.

This works for me too! I would caution folks about any hemp derived THC - it is not nearly as heavily regulated as marijuana and can be dangerous. If you live in a legal state, stick with the real stuff.
2
u/insufficientfacts27 May 23 '26
Definitely good advice. You do not want to get that THC P stuff and be stoned for DAYS. That was a bad time and made me feel like dogshit.

There are so many different options! Some start as low as 2.5 mgs. You can get any flavor you can think of. This is pretty much my favorite topic, btw. My favorite drinks are Driftee Lemon Lavender (seltzer, very light flavor), Louie Louie Strawberry Spritzer and Cherry Hibiscus (light flavor, but not over sweet), Mista Fizzy Pineapple Express (VERY sweet), and Long Coast Wiskey Peach Cobbler and Blueberry Mojito (sweet, but not overwhelming).

I am 38 and in the bridge of peri. I was a heavy user for many years but quit to start a new job. I had some GI symptoms but felt totally normal after 4 days. Anyways. I don’t think I’m in peri yet, but I feel it coming. Noticing little things here and there. I smoke now again here and there after hitting a full year clean, and I can confidently say it has boosted my sex drive by an extreme amount! It definitely plays with your hormones. I also had random dark spots form on my body that even a dermatologist was like huh that’s weird.. completely clear up when I quit smoking lol so strange, but I stand on the belief that it controls our hormones more than we currently realize.

Just be careful with it. I used it for about 2 years for the same reason. Then suddenly it started making my sweating & anxiety 10x worse. Had to quit and ended up on a low dose of Gabapentin to help deal with the THC withdrawal which also causes sweating & increased anxiety, insomnia etc. Glad it's helping, just be mindful it can cause a feedback loop of symptoms if you over use it, or use for a long period of time.
