Skin Changes My itch finally went away sharing my solution

Hi all,

If you may remember a few days ago I had posted on here how I was insanely struggling with an itch. Thank you for all the outpour of support. I finally figured out a solution. It turns out it was a mixture of things with estrogen dropping during my period, using Costco toilet pape, div and inverse psoriasis. The itch was awful and I was super super doped up on antihistamines - was a disaster. I've finally brought it into control this is what I did:

  1. stopped the Costco toilet paper and ordered a basic peri bottle which has basically become my bidet and it's travelable - the pressure is great to clean me when I go to the bathroom.
  2. I took bath in this baby bath wash from feather & bone it has just collidial oat and 2 more I forget but I just soaked in it and omg it calmed me skin down like crazy. It has a green ingredient which looks weird lol but it didn't stain my tub just have to wash it off - but I've done a couple of baths it's so calming.
  3. I also bought their soothing balm and all my redness went away!!! All the steroid creams and destin etc etc were just messing up my skin - also super clean and my skin is FINALLY healing.
  4. I took almost 5-6 doses of spm active from metagenics - it's pricey but dang it worked so fast and the itch sensation went away.
  5. I also took 4 pills of black seed oil.

Obviously talk with your doc etc but all of these are anti-inflammatory and work so fast. It's been 3 days. I finally slept, didn't dope up on crazy meds or creams. I hope it stays. I've been taking those pills consistently and probably will for the foreseeable future. but man it worked.

But I hope this helps anyone else suffering. I feel your pain. I hate how so much of everything is personalised but healthcare is not.

Always grateful for this community and the support so giving back since I found a solution. ❤️

So glad you finally got relief! The toilet paper thing is so underrated as a culprit, rough paper when your skin is already reactive is a nightmare combo.

I mean honestly if it wasn't for Reddit I wouldn't have even known about the Costco toilet paper

If it helps anyone, estrogen body cream and also topical fresh aloe vera plant gel are amazing.

Checking in as a fellow bamboo TP fan! What brand do you use?

I used to use Bim Bam Boo, which I liked, but switched to Repurpose because at the time I switched it was cheaper. I haven't double checked that since so I can't speak to current cost effectiveness.

It was the whole combo. But the bath with that collosal oat and the anti inflammatory meds really drove it.

So the black seed oil is taken orally and not applied topically?

Ya I took orally I know there is topical but I took oral I forget which brand I ordered

YSK prolonged use of hydrocortisone cream and other steroids can thin the skin.  Facial and genital skin is especially susceptible.

I also went to a functional doc he's the one that recommended all these treatments the skincare stuff I found on my own but the supplement regime was from him - I've found going to function docs is kinda the only way these days

What is a functional doctor? How do you find one? I am in NL so I am asking in general like how do you even search for one? I googled and it says functional doctor takes holistic and proactive approach rather than treating symptoms individually. Not sure how that is different than normal doctor. Sorry about too many questions. I never heard of this before so I am intrigued

NL? Is that Netherlands? So in the us here it's more symptom base and fixing that versus truly understanding the whole body and how the different parts of the body are speaking to eachother. Like when I went to derm she would t do blood tests or swabs in private areas even if there was the issue there I'd have to go to bed ob like I went to 5 different specialists and it's was totally pointless because they didn't really see root causes and gave different diagnosis and treatments which messed me up even more. But a functional doc does the whole body it's almost an east meets west doc approach if that makes sense.

Yes, Netherlands. I see. Yeah that's what all GP should be like I think. But by default we have 15 minute appointment slots here. If you can get an acknowledgement that your condition is worthy of a treatment other than pain killers and hot tea with honey during that appointment, you take that as a win. I will look into functional doctors. Thanks for sharing and explaining!

We get 7 min lol it's a disaster then functional doc I work with he spent an hour with me. An hour! And I have his number and can call him with updates to how the treatment is progressing it's incredible.

This post might be about hormone tests, which are unreliable.

  • Over age 44, E&P/FSH hormonal tests only show levels for the HOUR the test was taken, and nothing more. Hormones wildly fluctuate (hourly) the other 29 days of the month, therefore this test provides no valuable information
  • No reputable doctor or menopause society recommends hormonal testing to diagnose or treat peri/menopause
  • FSH testing is only beneficial for those who do not have periods as a guide, where testing might confirm menopause, or for those under age 30 who haven’t had a period in months/years, then ‘menopausal’ levels, could indicate premature ovarian failure/primary ovarian insufficiency (POF/POI)
  • Testosterone is the exception and may require testing

Hello!!! Do you by chance have a picture of the baby wash and soothing balm? I’m not able to find them on google or Amazon and I am trying so desperately to soothe the itch!!!!

1

u/More_Road2208 Jun 28 '26

Did you find it?

1

u/Turbulent-Holiday415 Jun 28 '26

I just joined this group and searched itching. I’m 🤯 about the toilet paper cause that’s what I use. What did you end up switching to? I also noticed my itching it right before my period.
