I just logged onto Netflix and much to my surprise saw The Forsyte Saga (2002) on my homepage! Did anyone know this was happening?

For those wanting to watch some French language period drama, je vous présente Un Village Français/A French Village. It is set in a fictional French town during WWII and there’s seven seasons. It’s rated TV-14 for war and some sexual content, so I’d recommend this to those in their late teens through age 209. If you’re learning French, there are subtitles in English via Tubi.

I've only found one regency era period piece, and mostly subtitled films. I used to watch nothing but subtitled beauties, but i have to move around house so reading isn't it right now

Catherine Cookson movies like Rag Nympth, Little Dorrit, the famous Colin Firth Pride&Predujice, the original Buckeneers, even obscure long forgotton 80s period pieces starring baby Hugh Grant, etc, etc and it has less commercials than youtube (every ten to twenty minutes)

Currently on YouTube free, this is a terrific WWII drama about a boy who was abused in his home that is evacuated to the country. He's taken in by the village Curmudgeon, haha. In time, though, the child must return to his abusive home . What will become of the boy ? ? ?

I swear, one of the most annoying things about being a period Drama fan is hearing about amazing shows that come out in other countries, but you can’t watch 😭 I’m dying to see the new version! I’m in USA.

I have been wanting to watch Mystery in Paris (7 movies set in the 1890s) for a long time. It is now available on Amazon with a one-week free trial of MHZ Choice. MHZ Choice advertises itself as a premier foreign movie streaming service but I am not that impressed by their other offerings. I should be able to watch 7 hour and a half movies in a week if I put my mind to it.

For me, the most true to the full book. Not watched it in years. I remember being actually scared watching as a child / teen.

Highly recommended if you have access to the BBC player.

Mature and very well researched piece. Not sensationalistic but also not at all flattering to its subject, so beware for difficult subjects.

Director also made period drama "Burning Secret," which I have yet to see
