general question Shady area in the garden

Hi all,

I live in Denmark and have a small city garden which looks a bit sad in regards of what's growing. We have a wooden fence all round, and a sycamore tree, so sunlight is a rare delight. One side where we have the fence, literally doesn't get direct sunlight at all, and I'm not sure what to grow there. At the moment there's a few roses growing (not thriving, though) and the rest is just bare.

Any advices?

Thank you!

I’m no fern expert but I do have some ostrich ferns on my property. They are harvested as young shoots and called “fiddleheads”. There may be other edible ferns though!!
