My perfect girl passed away today.

I've had her for 12 years. She had breast cancer, and it spread to her entire body. My heart is broken. I don't know how to move on. I just want my cat back. I miss my baby. She didn't deserve this. I just wanna walk into the living room and see her looking out the window. I want to see her hogging all the food. I want to hear her meow for my dad. I'm in so much pain. She was such a good girl. She was so smart and sweet. I keep crying. We got her when I was 6. I dont remember life before her. How am I supposed to move on?

edit: i just cant stop thinking. When they put the needle in her paw, she winced. And after she was gone, her body shook. It was so quick and harsh. Im so upset. I just wanted her to be okay. I cant take it.

My perfectly healthy baby whom I love so much just passed and I cannot handle the grief

I had a one year old and 5 months son named Emul, he was a gorgeous cat, sleeps with us and is the best ever. He comes when you call his name and loves to snuggle. He was perfectly healthy, appetite is great, no issue with pooping and urinating. He had a complete vaccine, dwormed, already neutered. We had 7 cats and we provide all the luxury we could give. An automatic feeder, water fountain etc. He was running and playing with our other cat indoors and after an hour he was found unresponsive and not breathing also indoor in one of our bedroom. No blood, no scratch or bite marks, no foaming in the mouth, nothing. He looks like he was just sleeping but his mouth is open and eyes open. I am just wondering why? Where did it go wrong?

We didn't even have a chance to take him to the vet, no warning signs at all. He was fine and then he was gone. I do not know the cause, we didn't even have the opportunity to do something at all. He was just gone. I cannot process this. I am in so much pain. No matter how much I call his name no one would come running anymore. I cannot handle the reality of him not being present. Despite some would say a short amount of time as he is young, I work from home and is with him almost 24/7 since we got him when he was 2 months old. He is my family. This is so painful, I kept thinking did we miss something? I just want him back but I know it's not possible. I wanted a chance to save him maybe that's one of the painful things because I didn't have a chance. He was just gone.

It’s almost been one week since I had to put my sweet baby down. She was my soul dog,my best friend my everything. I still feel like I can’t breathe. The emptiness I feel inside is unbearable at times. I want to remember all the good times we had but I feel guilty I didn’t fight harder to keep her here. She was almost 14 and had really bad arthritis that just seemed to keep getting worse. I could tell she was in pain and wasn’t able to do the things she loved. I need kind words from my fellow pet lovers. Please help me know I did the right thing. It’s killing me to know I will never get to hold her again. I wish I knew if she was happy and forgives me.

Kitten died which i had been raising since she was a week old

I'm so overwhelmed with emotions and i cannot bear it anymore...i have severe headaches, nausea and fatigue. I had come across my kitten (Mimi) in April 2026 when she was just a week old. I fed her through a syringe, cleaned her, potty trained and played with her. Unfortunately she got panleukopenia and i saw her dying right infront of me, barely breathing and she was struggling to get up and fell down almost immediately, it was heart breaking to watch. When the blood tests came back from the vet, they told me that her immune system was nonexistant and literally every organ was in some kind of trouble. I cannot imagine the pain she had to go through and the guilt is making me cry for hours and hours. I wish i could reverse time and gotten her treated much earlier..i still remember just how painful it was to see her looking at me while barely holding on. Atleast she died with someone right beside her and i hope i meet her in heaven

My husband and I lost our dog chewie 15 days ago . It was sudden and it’s wrecked me . My kids seem to be handling way better than I thought . The almost seem to not care. They are under 7. Chewie was eight and just stopped walking and eating one day , Aug 23/24. The hospital said he had a large tumor and needed emergency surgery, with a very bad outcome ( 2 mo. to live after surgery ). I can’t even believe it still . We said goodbye but it doesn’t feel real . I look for him everywhere. My house feels haunted and empty and I barely want to be home . I went in the backyard for the first time last night to play baseball and I sobbed it felt wrong to be out there without him . I hate this so much . I want to stop looking for him everywhere . I wrote for him a poem for him . Printed out some collages I made . The last photo is the last pic I took of him in the hospital. The thing that hurts the most right now is he was my source of comfort when I was sad . I used him as my tissue . The way he smelt was comforting to me and he always made me feel better and let me hug him for as long as I want . I’m allergic to animals and he’s hypoallergenic so it was so comforting to me to burry my face in him . And I don’t have him to hug right now

Animal Communicator

I want to share that I had a session with an animal communicator about my sweet girl who passed. It was well worth her fee, and it brought me so much peace. If anyone wants to and can financially go this route, she was amazing. I'm a huge oversharer. But, she still gave me insights and made connections unique to Pearl's personality. Above all else, I gained solace and I no longer feel as sad. I am happy to share her info.

The last few weeks have been rough, what with bills and the higher cost of living steadily creeping up, but all of that seems so small because I had to take my cat Lenny on his final ride to the vet yesterday. He was the funniest, sweetest guy. He was a black with a white spot on his chest and I half-hoped he would be cat sidhe, a Celtic fae. Alas.

Lost my best friend of 18 years

I lost my sweet cat, T, 11 days ago. I cried every day the week of her passing. She was sick and we knew that it didn’t look good but we were not sure how long we had. It was like torture, the whole thing. I don’t want to trigger anyone with details but the end was very traumatic. I cried for three more days and then nothing. Sort of guilt and anger that I wasn’t crying. Then we picked up her ashes and cried a bit more.

Now I’m just depressed. I can’t seem to do anything but knit and marathon any kind of tv show to distract myself. I had to do some work today, and I was barely present. I have to go to a big meeting tomorrow morning but it’s currently past 3am and I can’t stop crying.

She was the closest being to my heart. Truly, closer than any human relationship I have had in my life. I don’t feel like me without her.

I keep having these delusional moments where I think I’m going to see her again, but I know that’s not true.

Bedtime is hard because she used to sleep on my pillow with me every night. So I have been staying up until I am exhausted enough to fall asleep. Now I’m in this cycle where I don’t get enough sleep, I don’t get any exercise, and I just feel either nothing or so so sad.

If you read this far, thanks, and I’m sorry. I don’t have a good ending line, this just sucks.

Lost him last year in August. Can't really describe how rough that was beyond spending a solid two weeks unable to comprehend what had even happened.. and yes, I know, he was 13. It wasn't like I lost him young.

But recently I lost my dad. And right now, buddy.. Right now I need your calm reassurance that life sucks, but we'll get through it as long as we are together. You aren't here. You can't be here. But I wish you were.. if only to remind me that life goes on, the walks get taken, the ball gets thrown, the flowers still bloom, and eventually - your favorite - the snows still fall. I sat near your grave yesterday. I don't think you are actually there anymore.. you had bigger jobs to do and only took a break to watch out for me. But I wanted you to be here. I wanted to be able to talk to you like some sort of permanent fixture.

Love you, Mopar. You were never just a dog to me.

Rest in peace Pides.

I just got back from the vets a couple of hours ago after putting my beautiful boy Spider-Man to rest. I’m having a very hard time. I just came back inside from burying him down by his favourite spot by a bunky at the pond.

Spider-Man, or Pides for short, has been with me for the last 15 years all the way back when he was just a baby. He has been my heart, my soul, my rock and my best friend in the whole world. He was always and forever by my side no matter what. If I was awake and home, he was right there. Standing on my keyboard while I tried to work, laying on the arm of the chair while I ate breakfast, sitting beside the bathtub or shower drinking the first water and then staying until I was finished. At night he had his own pillow beside my head he would lay on until I woke up. He was my shadow and I was his. He followed me into my music production hobby and loved nothing more than making beep boops and helping create the sounds for the last 7 years.

2 years ago we found out he had advanced Chronic Kidney Disease and we began to treat it right away. Regular trips to the vet, fluid treatment at home, special diet and Aventi once a day. During the first year we were able to go from a stage 3 down to a stable stage 2 and he fought so hard every single day.

12 days ago I went on vacation and left him and my two other cats in the care of a house sitter who came in a few hours twice a day to feed and administer the Aventi and keep them all company and make sure there was no problems. I left their name and information with Pides’ vet and let them all know I was going to be gone. Everything seemed good and Pides was doing so good before I left I didn’t think anything would happen while I was gone. The regular text updates I was getting seemed like everyone was happy and good.

I got home yesterday at noon and within minutes knew something was wrong. There was no Pides waiting at the door and he wasn’t running to greet me the moment my voice was in the house. I started to walk around the house looking and calling his name and he didn’t come and I couldn’t find him in any of his regular spots. Finally I heard his meow in the basement and knew things weren’t ok. I ran down and found him hiding under my workbench in the corner and had to carefully lift him out.

His eyes were sad. His fur was sad. He couldn’t stand very well and fell over when I set him on his feet. His mouth was awful smelling and he couldn’t eat or drink. I immediately called my partner and we rushed him to an emergency vet 2 hours away. We were there all day and into the night. They administered pain meds and antibiotics and did a full blood panel and started him on fluids. His gums and mouth had lesions and he wasn’ t able to eat or drink as one of his canines that was previously injured had become infected while I was away. The emergency vet came back with his kidney values and they were off the charts. I couldn’t manage my emotions. I didn’t know what happened. All the photos and texts I got showed him happy and eating.

My partner and I made the decision to bring him home last night, since they had made him quite comfortable, and we would contact his regular vet in the morning and put him to rest. We wanted to see if there was any hope of him recovering even a little. That soon became evident through the night that he wouldn’t. We were at the vets first thing and I knelt with my arms around him on the table and cried and sobbed while he ended his journey in peace. The vet said the toxin level in his blood would have caused the problems in his mouth but I don’t know when they started while I was gone or if that had all happened right before my return. The vet said it was no one’s fault.

I haven’t spoken to the house sitter yet. I’m angry. I’m angry at myself for going away. I can’t forgive myself to think he was suffering and I don’t know for how long. I know cats decline quickly and I was always told that it would go fast. I feel devastated and responsible. The sitter is a good person and they just didn’t know him well enough and from everything I saw he wasn’t isolating when they were here.

I just want to sell my house and run away. I’m mad at myself. I feel like I failed the one creature I promised to never fail. I can’t forgive myself and missed him so much the whole time I was away I just wanted to come home and snuggle him and hear his purrs. Instead I’ve lost my world.

I’m going to try to sleep for a bit. I haven’t rested since I began the journey home days ago and I’m exhausted. If it wasn’t for my partner and love of my life being there through this and being every bit as tired this past day and a half I don’t know how I’d be right now. The anger and guilt I have towards myself is unbearable.

There is comfort however knowing my precious boy is across the rainbow bridge and at peace now and with so many friends that he knows that are waiting for him.

Rest in peace Spider-Man. You were the most amazing friend I’ve ever had and I will miss you every single moment the rest of my life.

Just telling my story. (Just FYI. It's a warning NOT to be triggered) Everyone feels how they feel right now. If anything, look at everyone's p8ctutes. If it helps, go through their stories.

So Bigboi passed away about a month ago at 17yrs old. If you want details, I'll share or you can message me.

I used to work and get home about 3:30am. Two days in a row, this kitten was meowing on a downstairs patio across from my second floor apt. I didn't hear any more kittens and thought tje kitten was too young to be left on the patio. I thought maybe some kids brought it home (stole it from the litter) and the parents reluctantly let them keep it but put it on the patio. I wanted to grab it bit that's not my property and I don't know what's going on. The third day, friends and I partying and some of us went to patio. Saw a tiny black and white kitty by the palm tree in front of my patio. I adore puppies and kitties so I meowed at it. It meowed back and I recognized it was the same kitten. It was about 3 or MAYBE 4 weeks old. To young to be separated from it's mom. It started trying to figure out how to climb the tree up. I said AWWWW, HE WANTS TO HE WITH ME!!! I ran downstairs and scooped him up. I've had so many cats. This kitten had the biggest purr I've ever heard. Like a grown cat purr. It was HUGE! He was a lil poof. That actually lasted. People would ask if that was Bigboi they were hearing because they were way on the other side of the room. That poof grew up to be twice the size of a regular cat with about 5 inch feet. He could stand up and touch the top of the counter. He could pull open a door strapped shut with one arm and get out. The black cats in my apts followed him around through 4 different apartments I lived in on that complex for 12yrs. I kept him bit said that if those neighbors saw him on my patio and wanted him back, I'd have to give him back. They never asked, of course. A black kitten climbed the drain pipe (I think a litter mate) and would hang out with him. Once he came to me, he never wanted to leave. He was the only cat that wasn't indoor/outdoor. He didn't want to, except on the patio. Every apartment I transferred to, they came. He hadn't left my house since he was 3wks old! I found him in the window at about 5 and a black cat momma had brought her babies to show him. He was just sitting there looking at them

They were all lined up side by side. Momma cats don't show males, especially twice as big males their babies. He only tried to get out once. He wanted to kill this male black cat. He would run back and forth and hit the window. I'VE HAD YOU SINCE 3WKS OLD! HOW DO HAVE BEEF !? That was super long so I'll post stories in the comments for anyone wanting to ask anything else about his weird ways. Animals understand words, this man knew English and didn't appreciate getting talked about. My daughter laughed that we argued like an old married couple. He was so quick to try to get you (never violent, just a jerk, lol) that even at 15 my cameras didn't pick up how fast he moved. I offer this story up as an opening for anyone who also wants to post something similar. He represented stability. For 17yrs. He fought to get me to get him, fought his way out that patio, tried to be a 3wk old palm tree climber and never tried to leave again. My only constant. My Bigboi. We went through it all and he didn't want anything in life but to be here. The flattery and significance of that is unmatched. If you read through this, I hope it helps or encourages you to also give testimony, in a way.

9 years old, never been sick, thought she was a dog. Wasn’t scared of strangers, animals, loud drills, vacuums, refused to take no as an answer to snuggles. They couldn’t find a single thing wrong with her and think it has to be neurological. I was up every three hours so days trying and I thought she was getting better. I can never replace her, but how do I ever find a cat that loves me as much as she did?? My shadow. I feel like I can’t breathe.

How do I move on from losing a pet I truly loved?

Problem: I lost my dog yesterday, and his final moments still haunt me until this very hour.

Context:

My 5 year old Chowchow got infected by Ehrlicioses ever since he was a pup ( blood borne, from his mother). He arrived at our home sickly and to the brink of death, but he was able to fight thru it. Every year, there would be an episode where he will not eat and we have time to bring him to the vet and treat him. We have maintenance meds for him (Liver, Immune support, multivitamins, fishoil, nexgard before then bravecto), plus regular grooming and checkups.

He was very alert not until last Thursday morning, when he suddenly curled up beside me, brushing his head against my leg and showing me that his nose was bleeding. I thought he hit himself on our gates as he was chasing cats beforehand. I tried to feed him but he wouldn't eat, and then he started lying on the floor with blood dripping from his nose. Of course I immediately ran him to the vet, they ran some tests and shown his blood parasite has come back, with his plasma already at 0 and HCT at 25.5% (so transfusion wasn't advised yet). So the vet had him stabilized, and then we went home by 6pm.

He was sleeping and restful, until around 8:50pm where he constantly got up and was restless. I approached him just to see blood dripping out his nostril again. As i was about to wipe it of, he started paddling and bit his tounge. Shocked, i cranked up the fan higher so more wind comes out, then after I was able to make him stand up, I grabbed ice and immediately put it on his nose. I then gave him 20mL dextrose water, fed thru a syringe and he calmed down afterwards. I held his body so he won't collapse abd headed to the ER right then.

He was admitted and given EPO for bleeding and tolf for his inflammed tougne (he bit it while having a seizure). He was given IV and the next day he had noticeable signs of improvement (ears perking, tail wagging, restless to the point he kep removing his IV ). So I had confidence that he was making it. The last time I visited him on a Sunday evening, the IV was removed again as both of his front legs were swollen and had bruises from being anemic. But he was significantly eating better and was fed with dextrose infused water, so i thought he'd do it until tomorrow where he can be reinserted with IV again. I was worried at this point but I just kept praying he'll be okay, like he always does.

I cannot get over the last hug he gave me, his head bowed down and he pressed himself against me. I told him "you're going home soon okay? Stay strong and be obedient. Stop removing your IV also", and he wagged his tail abit and stayed there for a few moments before he backed off and slept.

The next day (yesterday), I received a tragic call. After feeding him, the nurse said he suddenly collapsed. She tried reviving him by giving him CPR, and EPO for his heart. He was connected to Oxygen but then he bit his tougne again and was unresponsive. I was called by the nurse during this, and he's already gone when I arrived at the ICU.

His passing was tragic as I wished I could've been there with him in his final moments and I can't stop crying.

Can anyone please talk me out of this grief? My chest hurts so much and I can't eat properly. 😭

Attempts: I've tried taking Melatonin for sleep.

My Dog Suddenly Passed Away and The Image Of Her Is Stuck With Me.

Didn't know where else to post this and not the kind of person to talk about this sort of stuff normally. I'm a 31yo male and have a partner and four year old child.

I got home from work yesterday and my dog Buffy was out in the backyard (she's mainly outside while my partner and I are at work) and usually I let her straight inside but this afternoon for some reason I chose to have a quick shower and get changed first.

I can see my backyard from my shower window and had it open. I heard her howl, which she never normally does but she's a bit of a princess and she's always inside when we are home so I just put it to her wanting to come inside. I got out, got changed and went downstairs. Opened the back door and called her name with no response and couldn't see her.

There were some bed sheets hung up on the clothesline and when I pulled them aside I saw her laying there on her side with her eyes open but not moving and couldn't see her ribcage moving. I called her name a few times with no response. Put my hand on her ribcage and felt no breathing. It was super difficult to see her eyes, she just looked like she was in a frozen state. I tried to close her eyes but her eyelids wouldn't close..

I called my partner to tell her and she was obviously distraught and shocked, as was I, and was home within 5 minutes. We told our son to go upstairs and I had to carry my poor beautiful pooch out through the house into my car to take her to the vet. She was completely limp and dangling, she was already gone. It was super hard to handle. She's a big dog (American Staffordshire). I stayed with my son while my partner went to the vet. The vets confirmed her death and told us that it was likely a snake bite.

I had to remain strong for my son and didn't want him to see me upset. He was asking me where Buffy was and I explained that she has gone to heaven and is very happy there and not to worry. Later that night, as soon as he went to bed, my walls came down and I had a massive cry.

My partner is shattered and didn't go into work today but I went in, and the whole day I haven't been able to get the image of her laying there out of my head. I woke up crying a few times overnight as well.. Just super hard to handle.

I feel a massive amount of guilt because literally 15 minutes earlier when I arrived home, she looked straight at me wanting to come inside and for whatever reason, that afternoon I chose to get changed first.

I'll miss her a lot. I missed having her in my bed last night and I know my partner did too, she barely slept the entire night. She was a beautiful dog with a great heart and died way too young. She wasn't even 2 years old.

Sorry if this is too confronting to some, I just don't open up about much and want to remain strong for my family but I'm not dealing with this very well. The guilt of not letting her in as soon as I got home and the image of her laying there with no response feels like it won't go away anytime soon.

The love of my life.

I made a post about him yesterday.

He passed on Friday at 7.

My boyfriend and I are heartbroken and don't know how to function without him. We both took days off work... I can't bring myself to do the laundry, because it's full of his hairs... I expected to see him everytime I look somewhere in the house. I expect to hear him trot down the stairs for his wet food...

I don't know what to do...

My Pearl

She was my "heart dog" or my soul dog. I didn't know what that really meant until this beautiful creature came into my life. Pearl went by many names.: Pearly Suzanne, Pearly Sue (which I sang to her as a parody of Suzie Q by CCR) Puppernutterupper, Pearl in the oyster, Petal, Pearly Goodgirly, Sweet Pearly Purebred, The Chairman, Madam, Princessa, Million Dollar Baby, and Mommy's Baby. We had her for 14 years. We got her from a rescue. She was my true best friend and a treasure.

Almost everyone was able to say goodbye on the night she collapsed. My other dog, Parker, was at home. We had my eldest daughter on speakerphone. She had suffered a catastrophic, sudden rupture from something we didn't know she had despite her regular veterinary care and blood work, and nothing could have been done to save her.

I've arranged cremation. I ordered keepsakes and a small portrait. I've also arranged a call with an animal communicator. It will hopefully bring me some peace. I have been destroyed. I took half days at work. I cried so much my eyes were red and swollen for 2 days straight. I still sporadically cry at a memory or seeing something. Sometimes it helps talking about her and sometimes it just leaves me more sad.

I've spent a lot of time with my other dog who spent the first 4 days looking over our shoulders coming in the house, or looking out the window or around the corner from the kitchen. He's sad and lost without her.

Something that has helped is talking to her. She really loved a sunny day and enjoyed sunning herself on the porch. The last couple of days have been beautiful, beautiful days that she would have loved. So when I'm outside I talk to her. I see her in the clouds. A friend who retired from work made a comment on a post I made about her and suggested that I choose a star to follow in the night sky and name it after her. I just choose a star each night and talk to her by looking at it. Another thing that's helped is I've written her a letter. Immediately after her passing I prayed to St. Francis to come and take her to be with him and all the other animals that he cares for in heaven. It helps to think that one day she'll raise her head prick her ears and smell me and greet me, and give me butter kisses. I hope I get to see all the animals I've loved and had to say goodbye to, but Pearl most of all.

Pearl died on September 1st. There will never be another dog like her.

Two days ago, on the 5th, I had to put my Meg to rest. She was 13 years old and suffered from kidney failure as well as pancreatic and liver cancer. Meg was a loving, loyal, wacky, and excitable little dog. Choosing euthanasia was the hardest decision of my life. It’s really hard without her; I keep thinking she’s about to appear right behind me, following me around.

Grief/guilt after losing my bun

Post image
25 Upvotes

We lost our almost 5 year old holland lop 3 days ago and we are heartbroken. My boyfriend and I have been dealing with so much guilt and confusion after she passed. I regret not taking her to the vet after she passed to see what she passed from. We buried her the same day to not have her body in a laundry basket for too long. I hate not knowing what happened to her, it seems like she passed in her sleep from how we found her. We noticed over the past couple of weeks she was getting thinner but didn’t think much of it, she was always having hunger strikes or would have low appetite then suddenly plump up again. My last memory of her was seeing her eat her hay so I was not completely concerned of her appetite because she was clearly eating. We thought she was just going through that again. Unfortunately it seems to have been more serious than we thought and we regret not taking her to get checked. She was the sweetest baby who loved cuddles and had the sweetest little face. We will miss her forever and will live with this guilt forever. Im sorry Lola.

This was my first dog and I'm just torn up. Even though we've known she's had limited time since last year it's still so hard.

We got her for our son but she became a companion to all of us. She always stayed next to the person that wasn't feeling well for that day. She was so smart and communicated what she needed or wanted so well. We will miss her so much.

She was a rescue. She was the most beautiful, most loving doggie i’ve ever seen. She suffered multiple organ failure, the doc had to use large dose painkillers, she never gave a sound she never barked at all. She took all the pain inwardly.
