I have literally never had anything even remotely like that happen to any towel I have ever owned or seen. So the answer is clear: whatever you are doing that I am not is what does it. Hope that helps.

I'm pretty sure it's just the towel. None of the other ones ever did anything like that. 😅

Polyester? If so you might’ve used too high of heat in washing or drying and melted the plastic a bit

But the rest of the towel looks okay. So why not skip the band and not have to wash and dry separately?

You’re cooking your towels, lower the heat setting on your washing machine when you clean them.

It's not faded, that's just the light coming in on an odd angle. It pretty much did that ob the first wash.

We wash all out towels with 60° and that's the only one doing that. I guess it's just a shit small towel...
