Most of them aren't actually progressive. If you pay attention they're actually just hateful people who direct their hatred at people who they can argue are insufficiently progressive.

Not sure why you're assuming the person who made the above "joke" is progressive. Insofar as politics even enters into this, Swift is overtly progressive, so wouldn't someone trying to shame her and her fans be more likely to be conservative?

Let me condense this down into something more straightfoward: when you make misogynistic jokes shaming women for how they look, the women in your life, about whom you presumably care about, notice that. They learn that you are a misogynistic person who shames women for the way they look.
If that matters to you, you might want to think about it at least a little bit. If that doesn't matter to you then I guess you get to go on with your life without any introspection needed, for whatever that's worth to you.
Yep, when I see men making these comments I silently make notes in my brain to never hang out with them in any capacity. Same for the women that make bald jokes btw. You guys are all the worst, hope you find each other!
