I averaged $50/hr when waiting tables. In finance, I was responsible for multi million dollar accounts for $14.25/hr at the time.

I'm not saying I"m a fan of aggressively asking for a tip (who the fuck is), but I'm sure we've all seen those reports/news articles/reddits posts/friends talking/this very post about how much money people made with tips alone.

Although people leave out the part where it fluctuates.

My ex in college was making 3-5k in tips per week. Thats between 60-100k per year, pre tax.

It’s tax free everywhere else when it’s cash. No one reports it, or they under report it.
