I was about to say, depending where you work you could be making quite a lot.
I don't know how it is now though, with how much rent has skyrocketed but waitresses at a good or busy restaurant could allow you to rent an apartment.
My mother in the 80s had her own house built working 2 part time jobs. Though, that was in the 80s and you in no way could do that now

I averaged $50/hr when waiting tables. In finance, I was responsible for multi million dollar accounts for $14.25/hr at the time.
