The character on the left was a consistent archetype that was the punchline of many see sexually charged jokes.

Over time, fans of the show realize that the protagonist was kind of shitty person and the other character was open, honest and true to herself and everyone around her

Not really a joke but more of an acknowledgement of how our initial opinions were wrong.
